The band is done in a filet crochet, sort of. I never learned how to crochet so I can't give very good descriptions. Anyway, it is about 1 1/2" wide and length extends from ear to ear. The ties are done in single crochet and are just long enough to tie in a square knot at the nape. I saw a preview for "Monster in Law" and saw Jennifer Lopez wearing a tan colored one and loved it. I called my Mom and described it to her and asked her if she'd make me one. It turned out perfectly even though she kept telling me that she didn't like the way it was working out and felt it would slip out of my hair since there is no stretch. On a side note, I can't wear stretchy headbands - they spring off the back of my head so this design is ideal for me. I'll see if my daughter will take a picture and try to figure out how to post it here.
