Hot oil treatment last night...

November 4 2004, 10:56 AM

I used a Tresemme hot oil treatment that came with my microcap. Left it in for about 20-30 minutes with the warm microcap on top. Shampooed with Kiss My Face Sahaira and used Brilliant Brunette conditioner (this is some purchased before I went "natural") afterwards.

Honestly can't say that I have noticed much of a difference.

On another topic, it sure did seem like a LOT of hair came out last night while I was messing with it! EEK! I hate it when that happens.

Craving chocolate...

November 4 2004, 7:40 PM

...or anything sweet! AAARGH! I have been reading some books about yeast and how it can get overgrown in the body contributing to significant health problems. I have so many of the symptoms and I am so tired of the aches and tiredness and eczema and crabbiness, etc. that I have decided to try the diet (oh, I hate that word! let's say eating regimen) that will starve the yeast. What do I have to loose? Maybe I will feel better. I know that in the past, a more restricted diet has helped.

No more morning coffee. Bwaahaaa! No sugar, natural or otherwise (yep, that means no fruits or juices either). No refined carbohydrates. No vinegar (which wipes out every salad dressing in the world!). No yeasts or products with yeasts or malts--that means no bread. No cheese. No mushrooms or other molds and fungi. No processed foods.

Well, two days of this and I am dying for something sweet! Thankfully, this severe "eating regimen" is only for about 3 weeks, then I can gradually introduce some of those foods back. Some, like sugar, should be avoided always.

What does this have to do with my hair? Not a lot. I just wanted to whine a little. Actually, what I eat does affect my hair and scalp. The dandruff hasn't been too bad lately. I wonder if this will clear it completely?

The deal of the century!!!!

November 6 2004, 9:11 PM

What a thrill!!! One of my local small natural foods stores had to close shop so that the owner can have surgery. Today was the last day and they had a special deal where you paid $20 at the door. They gave you a brown paper bag, and you got to fill the bag to the top with anything in the store! WOO-HOO! While my husband headed for the food, I went straight to the hair care and beauty supplies. I got atleast 7 bottles of Nature's Gate shampoos and conditioners, some Jason Biotin conditioner, some Avalon and Nature's Gate shower gel, Kiss My Face hair gel, Avalon face mask, Avalon Brightening Serum (that normally costs $20 alone!), and more.

Then I hit the vitamins--the rule was that you could only get one bottle of any item. I got a $20 bottle of Green Source, some Biotin, B-complex, Flax Seed Oil, and on and on!

When we got home, we added up the actual cost of what we bought in our 2 bags...drum roll please...over $450 worth of products for $40!!! I am so sorry that Emily is having to close her shop, but I am so thankful for the opportunity we had to get all this stuff at such an incredible price. There are so many things I got today that I have wanted to try, but could not afford.

Tangles and hair loss!! Boo hoo!!

November 15 2004, 10:05 PM

I don't know if it is the change in the weather. Maybe it is because I have not been as dedicated to scalp massage and deep conditioning. Whatever the cause, I am struggling with two major problems these days: tangles and hair loss! I actually counted the hairs in the drain of my shower one day after I had washed. It seemed like there were so many. I thought maybe I was panicking unnecessarily, so I counted--over 130 hairs...YIKES!!! Now that is a reason to panic! I am still taking all my vitamins and supplements. I am eating MUCH healthier...no sugars or refined carbs, etc. I don't know what the problem is. Maybe it is hormones, or just a season of shedding.

The tangles are annoying me too. I especially struggle with a mass of tangles in the back underneath hair right at my neck. Perhaps it is how I am sleeping. I want to get a satin pillowcase, but $$$ is rather short right now.

Tomorrow I will be helping Carrawayseed to henna her hair. Maybe I will take that opportunity to do a deep conditioning treatment so that she won't be the only one looking ridiculous. I am sure she will appreciate the comradery, and my hair will appreciate the help. Now, what will I use to deep condition? Hmmmmmm...
