How Juliet uses cedarwood oil...

June 4 2005, 8:17 AM

Juliet, who gets great monthly growth, wrote me the following:

So, Cedarwood: I use it quite abundantly almost every night, especially when I feel my scalp a bit itchy. I put a drop on each of the three central fingers on one hand, rub with the same three of the other hand and pass it on my scalp. I repeat that until I feel I covered all my scalp. I use it pure or the scalp gets oily. I do it before going to bed, I found that the smell helps me to get to sleep. In the morning the smell has worn off, usually.

Meg Evenstar's essential oil experiences...

June 4 2005, 8:34 AM

Here is what she wrote on the LHC:

I have been using the essential oils for hair growth for seven months now and I can see positive results. My hair is no longer shedding. Most days I lose no hair in the shower and only fifteen to twenty when I comb to detangle. This is unheard of for me. I was in high school the last time it was like this. Here are the results:

1. My ponytail circumference has increased from three inches to three and one-half.

2. My hair is stronger, especially at the roots.

3. My scalp feels clean and healthy

4. I haven't shed more than twenty hairs at a time since I started applying the oils.

For those of you that don't know what I am talking about see Igor's recipe "Essential Oils for Hair Growth" on the Recipe Board. http://forums.longhaircommunity.com...read.php?t=9411 I changed it a little and use this blend of essential oils from Essential Wholesales. http://www.essentialwholesale.com/s...pexd.asp?id=711 I add these to Emu oil as my base carrier oil. Since I had the four original oils, I add the ones that are not in the blend so I have all of the oils. I use 1/2 teaspoon of EOs to 4oz of Emu oil. I use this at least twice a week. I have also began to put the blend in my bottle of shampoo. I can feel my hair becoming full and thick at the scalp. I hope to regain the four inch ponytail circumference that I use to have years ago.

AND HERE IS THE ORIGINAL RECIPE:

The recipe is stolen from:
http://www.holistic-online.com/Reme...romatherapy.htm

Essential Oil Blend for Hair Growth
1. Thyme essential oil - 2 drops
2. Atlas cedarwood essential oil - 2 drops
3. Lavender essential oil -3 drops
4. Rosemary essential oil -3 drops
5. Jojoba oil - teaspoon
6. Grapeseed oil - 4 teaspoons

Add the first four ingredients into a small glass jar. Mix well. Now add the remaining two ingredients. Mix thoroughly.
Massage this mixture into your scalp for at least two minutes every night. Wrap your head in a warm towel after treatment.

Dermatologists at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in Scotland gave 43 people, suffering from a rare autoimmune disorder that causes patchy hair loss, the essential oil blend described above and asked them to rub it into their scalps daily. After seven months, 19 regrew as much as half of their hair, while a few regrew almost all of their hair back. The study was reported in the November/December 1999 issue of Health magazine. The researchers speculated that this remedy may also help other types of balding, including midlife thinning for men.

Oils of arnica, lavender, rosemary or calamus stimulate healthy hair growth. Rub into hair before washing.

Caution:
Avoid rosemary oil if you have high blood pressure. Keep lemon and grapefruit doses low if you have sensitive skin, as they may be slightly irritating.

Crocheted headband

June 24 2005, 6:18 PM

Here are instructions posted by Michelle on the Loom and a link with a photo:

The band is done in a filet crochet, sort of. I never learned how to crochet so I can't give very good descriptions. Anyway, it is about 1 1/2" wide and length extends from ear to ear. The ties are done in single crochet and are just long enough to tie in a square knot at the nape. I saw a preview for "Monster in Law" and saw Jennifer Lopez wearing a tan colored one and loved it. I called my Mom and described it to her and asked her if she'd make me one. It turned out perfectly even though she kept telling me that she didn't like the way it was working out and felt it would slip out of my hair since there is no stretch. On a side note, I can't wear stretchy headbands - they spring off the back of my head so this design is ideal for me. I'll see if my daughter will take a picture and try to figure out how to post it here.
