Changes...

May 23 2006, 5:05 PM

Well, after regular trimming this winter, almost all of my layers are GONE!!! There is just a small difference between the length of my outer hair (or canopy) and the underneath layer.

Also, I now have bangs again. Here is what I wrote to Liliana before the cut:

"I finally pinned my hubby to the wall and threatened him with bodily harm if he did not give me a straight and honest answer to the age old question--"Do you think I look better with bangs?" He has not wanted to answer that one because he does not want me to cut it for him, hate it, and hold it against him. I told him not to worry, I have been on the fence, and I am not feeling real strongly one way or the other, so if I hate it, I'll just grow them back out again! I think he likes my hair just fine the way it is, when it is all down, but now that it is longer, I need to wear it up more often. I have been pretty happy with my hair and I like the ease of not having bangs, BUT, I am not really happy with my face!!! When I have all my hair pulled back, I feel like I look 10 years older. I know it is all vanity, but I want to feel good and sassy, not old and frumpy. Anyhoo, a friend of mine who used to cut my hair is in town this weekend. She has long hair too, and she is not scissor happy. In fact, she really isn't like any other beautician I have ever met. (she's a natural, no nonsense, jeans and t-shirt kind of gal...you would like her...she and her hubby and 2 sons actually lived in a tent for a while.) One of the reasons I have hesitated to do anything is that I don't know anyone I trust to start cutting into my hair. But I trust Kelley. So, when I see her, I am going to get an honest assessment from a friend, and not someone who is trying to get a lifetime customer, and then maybe have her cut it if she agrees."

I did let her cut it, and it does look much better when I have my hair pulled up. It makes me look younger and I am all for that!!

Measured yesterday...

May 25 2006, 10:28 AM

...while my hair was wet I wanted to measure. I have not kept up with it much lately because I have been getting regular trims and I did not want to get discouraged. Well, it is at 28 inches or more and is falling below my bra-strap now.

I will continue with the trims to try to rid myself of the splits that are now plaguing me, but hopefully I can also work my way down to the waistline.

Sick folks at my house...

May 27 2006, 9:40 AM

Here is the main text of an email I sent to a friend today, only the names have been changed to protect the :

Monday night, B*** (my 4-year-old) started getting sick on her stomach. She was unable to eat anything until Thursday! P*** (my hubby) got sick Thursday night and had to stay home from work on Friday. Now, they are falling like flies. This morning at 5:30 B*** (the 9 year old) went down. L*** (the 13 year old) was close at her heels, followed by J*** (the 15 year old. This is a particularly virus...not just a puke once or twice and your done kind of thing. I'm thinking we need some sort of quarantine sign or toxic warning posted on our door. That leaves me, J***, N*** and L*** (the 17, 16 and 12 year old)...tick...tick...tick...Every time my tummy even rumbles, I think, "Uh, oh! Dear God, please, no! Don't let it be me!"

Wonder where I can buy disinfectant in industrial strength barrels???

I am trying to do as little as possible right now, so that my immune system can fight! Fight! FIGHT!

What does this have to do with hair??? Not a thing!
