I'm having my entire house redone. The most complex room in terms of lighting will be the kitchen.
The kitchen is a "L" shaped kitchen. Medium in size...about 11' x 16'. There will be an island in the middle. There is also a door leading out to the backyard.
The following will be the lighting "Zones".
1) 6 recessed cans for ambient light. (4" - 6")
2) Pendant lights over the island.
3) 1 recessed can over the sink.
4) Under-cabinet lighting throughout.
5) 1 recessed light by the door.
6) Motion Detection light outside, by the door.
I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how to wire them up. I am not a big fan of having many switches/dimmers in a room so I am trying to simplify things while keeping a good amount of control.
More importantly, I want to be able to control some of the lighting in 2 locations, where I enter the kitchen within the house and by the door leading to the back yard.
Right now I have it like this:
1) 1 switch by the entry to the kitchen. This will be a 3-way to the following...
2) 1 switch by the door leading to the back yard. 3-way with 1)
3) Independent switch for the island lights. (where to locate this?)
4) Independent switch for the under-cabinet lights.
5) Independent switch for the light over the sink.
6) Independent switch for the 1 light by the door.
7) Independent switch for the motion detect light outside.
Phew, that's 7 switches...too much I think.
I need some advise to keep it realistic!
Thanks in advance!!!
