I am putting new recessed lighting into my basement. I have 8' ceilings and 9" floor joists. There are furring strips from the 1960's tile ceiling that I took out but I am changing over to drywall. There is no insulation and my question is this. How many 6", 75 watt lights can be on the same circuit and how much clearance does it need from the subfloor above? As a note that may be of importance, these are IC lights. This is my first home and everything is new to me. Thanks for the help!

Realizing I am a bit late answering. With IC cans clearence above is not an issue. As far as how many cans on one circuit I try to keep the max at about 12 but you could go to 15 safely on a 15 amp circuits if using 85 watt cans or less.
