Imitation of life is the story of two mothers one white one black and two daughters one white Sandra Dee one white looking played by white actress Susan Kohn or Kohl. The black daughter is horrible to her mother and tells her to stay away because she wants to be white. But then the mother dies and then the girl goes running her mothers casket tell her mother she was sorry. Breaks your heart. Also I recommend everyone watch The Childrens Hour with Audrey Hepburn and Shirley McLaine. That is one is a tear jerker to me because at some point everyone is accused of being something they may be or not be and you feel so horrible on the inside because if you defend your self it's as though you are trying to prove to everyone you are not what people say you are and then if you say nothing everyone assumes it's true. The worst part of this movie is everyone believed it was true, no one asked, even friends and family believe what was said was true. Watch this movie and you will see what I am talking about. Anyone who has ever done anything similar to what was done to these two women you will see what the end result of your actions are. This is the most powerful movie I have ever seen, it made me quit getting involved with passing gossip without proof. Passing judgement on people I don't really know and most all quit believing everything I hear. Another execellent movie is Sometimes in April about the genocide in Rwanda it was filmed on location. Although not a true tear jerker it is so thought provoking and heart wrenching that you just can't stand that you could do nothing. It was better than Hotel Rwanda but both were powerful. I suggest if you do rent the movie to put on the words at the bottom of the screen because the accents can be sorta hard to understand sometimes. It was made by I think HBO or PBS not sure. All three movies are worth your time. |
