This was a 50's film that was later remade (inferior)
and I saw it in the theaters as a kid when it was first released. To this day the sequence where the ship lands in the Arizona desert is awesome. There was some sort of nedle like thing inserted into the back of the neck of humans to control them.
Could that be it?
