The movie was called Phantasm, and althought it was good when I first saw it (when I was young),
I definitely can say that I wouldn't watch it again...which I did, and now it looks fake to me.
By the way, they made two sequels to that movie.
The secind movie had the same (very) tall man as the bad guy, and explain a little of why he does what he does, and introduces the same flying balls..in gold color. There's actually a scene where someone finally gets caught by one, and the two spikes gets hooked in the head, while a third one appears right in the middle, and drills into the brain <<<cool!>>>.
