Anyone who has trouble carving a turkey with an electric knife might appreciate the work of an artisan who uses a chain saw to carve intricate pieces out of 3-foot logs.
Brian Ruth, who has made past appearances at the fair, will perform his 45- to 60-minute show four times a day in "Masters of the Chainsaw," just west of the Agriculture and Horticulture Building.
Ruth, 51, of Towamensing, Pa., has done chain-saw carvings for 30 years, said wife Jen, his agent and a fellow chain-saw artist.
The work is quick and dangerous, she said, but also entertaining.
"He's done everything from horse heads to raccoons and deer," she said. "It's not going to be your standard bear." |
