Three Legged Crow/Bird

The Official Seal of Korea is currently a Phoenix. There is debate in whether or not they are going to use the Three Legged Crow as the next seal. Here's a picture of the current Seal. The reason they are wanting Korea is thinking about replacing their current Seal is because it has a chip/crack in it.

Here is another picture. In the picture below, the Three Legged Crow/Bird is being flanked by a dragon and a phoenix, both symbols of power during the Koguryo period. As a matter of fact, this picture is authentic Koguryo art.

In Korean mythology, Samjoko (the three legged bird) was highly regarded as a symbol of power. It was thought to be even superior to that of the dragon and the phoenix. Samjoko is thought to inhabit/represent the sun.

I just thought I'd share. See you all in class!
