I did consider that, but an engineer relative told me moving a fire hydrant is possible but highly unlikely. I gave a close inspection of the fire hydrant and it certainly is identical in design. If you live in L.A. (I do not) perhaps a check in city records would reveal if any fire hydrants were removed. I can't think of any reason to remove a fire hydrant on a residential street. 3925 Norton is clearly not between between 39th and Coliseum. You are correct that Street names and addresses often change. Please not that Martin Luther King was named Santa Barbara Ave. in 1947. I found no references to a street address of the empty lot from 1947 and am only referringg to the current address.
