| i've been on wonderup for 2 months now. i just noticed this morning that i seem to be growing more nipple hair than before. ew. i take saw palmetto as well and i thought that was supposed to block testosterone (so wouldn't it make less hair grow there?).
i tweeze the hairs cause they're gross and i wonder why more seems to be growing! does anyone have any ideas or has experienced anything like this?

Those hairs were likely there before, just not as noticeable. It makes sense that with increasing circulation to the area causing boobie growth, the hair follicles in that area are also getting increased circulation as well and are growing. I'm starting to notice the same problem as well. Hasn't gotten bad enough to tweeze yet, but I suspect that it will only get worse. Small price to pay for bigger boobies!!!!!
Happy boobie growing. |

Hi Yvonne, I noticed the same thing when I took SP, my body hair seemed to get worse instead of better. I think it is the SP that causes it too, even though I don't understand why either.
However, since I got back on the pill (yasmin) and since I have been taking Nettle root it actually seems to get less.
Maybe try taking the Nettle root instead as well as I don't think it was the pill, I took that for years before and always had the same amount of body hair then.
Hope this helps,

I would NOT TWEEZE if I were you dear!
Tweezing aggrivates the hair follicle and only makes the hair grow back thicker, darker, and more prominant. Same with waxing, or anything that aggrivates the hair follicle.
Either shave them, trim them, or get electrolosis (and they'll never come back---though can you do that on your nipples?)
Don't tweeze though it will only get worse!!
Sorry if I'm butting in but I had to learn this the hard way, I had some blonde hairs below my belly button (treasure trail you know?) that were slightly longer than the normal peach fuzz so at 16 I was stupid and started waxing it there. God don't ask me why, but now I have these, thick, dark hairs that grow there and I have to keep shaving it in between getting electrolosis so that' it's hopefully gone forever =(
It's horrible it makes you feel so unfeminine. Don't tweeeeeeze! |

i've actually heard that shaving makes is grow back thicker. if you wax or tweeze it makes it grow back thinner and less coarse. i know this because i get everything waxed. armpits, legs, brazillian, you name it. and every time i wax it less hair grows back and its way more sparse.
and yeah i thought that sp is supposed to block testosterone and therefore hair growth there. maybe i will try nettle once i'm finished my current bottle of sp (i hate to waste things).

I have to agree with Yvonne here, hair gets thicker from shaving, and thinner from plucking them out at the roots or epilating.
I know that from my own experience, and in the above case the hair may just have grown the way it did eventually anyway, plucking or no plucking.
All the hairs I have plucked have gotten thinner and even have become less, some don't grow back at all, the opposite happens when I shave.
So, keep on plucking, it won't make it worse, and never ever shave around the nipple area, that is a way too sensitive area for that!!!

One thing about tweezing though, is ingrown hairs. Because the hair folicle can become so irritated, and part of the hair may break off while you are tweezing, it is possible to get nasty, even infected ingrown hairs.
Sorry to be gross, but I learned this one the hard way. Be extremely careful when tweezing and use an antiseptic like hydrogen peroxide on the area afterward. Even so, I would tweeze as little as possible. |

you can get ingrown hairs from shaving too. my esthetician told me to use tea tree oil and exfoliate to prevent it. haven't gotten one since!
so i'll keep on tweezing and check out some nettle than!
thanks for all the advice ladies!

No, tweezing causes them to get thicker, in most cases. Maybe you are a rare case. The only way they can get thinner from tweezing is if you damage the hair follicle so much, it stops producing hair altogether, which may be your case. But for most women it is the opposite. Shaving does not do anything, it's physically impossible. That's like saying trimming your hair will make it thicker. It won't. All you're doing is cutting the tip off of the hair by shaving. It does nothing to the root, nothing to the structure of the hair or follicle.
Here are some links debasing the myth on plucking vs. shaving:
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/hair-removal/AN00638
http://www.funtrivia.com/askft/Question68274.html
Please read this, as well as do more research of your own:
"Tweezing vs. Electrology:
Tweezing is easy to do, and inexpensive too. However hair can become coarser from the repeated tweezing and skin problems including ingrown hair, pigment changes, and scaring can result. Obviously it is not a permanent solution to unwanted hair. NEVER tweeze the upper/lower lip, chin, breasts, or abdomen! You are stimulating growth in these areas. The hair will become thicker and darker. NEVER tweeze out ingrown hairs. You will make the situation
worse. The hair will distort further and you will have a bigger lesion the next time it grows in, really, trust us. Stop performing self-surgery, we mean it.
Shaving vs. Electrology:
Shaving is inexpensive and easy. However, the hair does grow back quickly and feels coarse as it is cut off leaving a blunt tip. Shaving DOES NOT increase hair growth in any way. Seriously, this is the biggest myth in hair removal. Hair is dead above the skin surface. Anything you do at this level does not affect hair growth. Shaving is a safe temporary method of removal for basically anywhere. "

Just thought I would add my two penneth to this convo!
I have had this unfortunate problem for as long as I can remember, at least 20 years - i was kinda hoping NBE would help but it hasnt made a difference! I have NEVER shaved my nipples the very thought makes my knees go a bit wobbly (i keep picturing the blade slipping and losing the top of my nipple or something).
I just wanted to say that I have always plucked the hairs and never ever had a problem. Incidentally I shave the hairs on my legs and they always seem to grow back thicker.
I have never looked into this in any great depth, I am simply speaking from experience. It's down to personal choice I guess.

It is a fact that hair grows thicker when shaven, that is why young boys, when they keep on shaving, grow thicker beards. If they just leave the first hair it will stay fine and not grow thick.
I think we can just agree to disagree here. I know that I am not the exception, the reason why women buy epilators for their legs and go for waxing is because the hair takes 2-3 weeks to grow back AND is thinner afterwards. |

Oh my god you all are impossible.
There is NO scientific reasoning or backing up as to HOW shaving could make your hair grow in thicker! I'm sorry but it simply DOES NOT. It's not possible! The only thing shaving does is blunt the ends of your hair so they APPEAR to be thicker at first, until they grow out more.
For anyone who has gotten thinner hair after waxing----- you are exceptions to the rule. Honestly, I've never come across anyone who got thinner hair from waxing and I find it very strange that you all do. This must really be some sort of freak coincidence that you all happen to get thinner hair after waxing!
And no. I don't work for a ****ing razor company or anything, if you guys are about to say I'm touting shaving because I work for them. It's just scientific fact (and common sense) that shaving cannot CANNOT do anything to the hair follicle, or change the hair in any way other than make it shorter and more blunt.
Sheesh! Okay now back to my burrito... |

i really don't think it's something to get upset about. we all have our own personal preferences and that's it.
the original question was what may have caused the hair to be grown in the first place. that question has been answered. lets end this thread with that.
thanks ladies

I'm sorry but I have good reason to not want ignorance on the subject, since a lot, and I mean A LOT of women have made a mess of their body hair by waxing and tweezing too much. I want the women here who are in the majority, who's body hair will grow back thicker and worse and worse, to know that tweezing is the culprit, not shaving.
Just because I'm in the minority in this thread does not make me wrong. And I will not let anyone tell me to be quiet and not get "upset". I'm not upset, simply frustrated because they were giving misinformation. Thank you. |
