Hey all really need advice...I posted messages on this forum before regarding having just been diagnosed with cyst...but not serious as they are v v v tiny almost untraceble around my ovaries...basically I had such irregular periods that i didn't have one for almost 7 months from this yr jan til sept...then had one in aug and sept then i've not had one since....went to doc and had bloodtests and pelvic scan, diagnosed with possible ovarian cysts...

Anyway my question is..I've been on WU for about 2 months and a bit now...must admit it has made me put on weight..which I am feelign wuite hung up about becasue I'm quite slim anyway so it is very noticible having a spare tire appear round my middrift....my doc has recommended me to go on the pill to regulate my period...would this affect WU???

I'm very hesitant to start microgynon becasue i'm so scared of putting more weight on as well as not liking this idea of it might be cervical cancer causing and controlling my body...yet at same time i am soooo sick and tired of not knowing if and when my next period is!?

Please advice... my main thing is the weight gain I really really don't wanna put more on....I drink fennel powder tea as well...I'm 22, 5"5 and weigh about 126lbs

i had the same problem, kindof, when i was 16 which is why i went on the pill in the first place. i did NOT gain weight, though some people do. talk to your doctor about your different pill options because some of them have it as a probable side effect and some dont.

i have also had cysts... keep in mind that this wouldnt be CERVICAL cancer you are talking about... that is caused by HPV which is an STD and symptoms are a high cell count on your pap (GET YOUR PAPS DONE, LADIES...). ovarian/uteran (spelled wrong, i suspect) is more your concern, though remember that a cyst does not always mean cancer... also note that bcp or depo or any other hormone shot may help with these. they were very surprised when i showed up with them having been on depo for a while... it is rare that they will form if you are on a hormone regulator.

also, wu wont interfere with the pill... will the pill interfere with wu? that i dont know, but i am sure one of these fine ladies can help you out there... i am sure the question has been asked!! also check vortexheath and they may have the answer there.

stress levels seriously affect cysts... listen to your doctor and make healthy decisions...

and you know you can do ab exercises, pilates, and even some cardio while doing the nbe!! hit the gym, girl! (i should really go with you... okay... after the holidays...)

Cysts on the ovaries are not uncommon and if they are small, your body will re-absorb them in a few cycles. Cysts form when you don't ovulate. The cyst is the 'casing' for the egg and if you do ovulate, then the sac bursts and becomes the corpus luteum, which produces progesterone for your body.

It sounds to me like you may have a problem with progesterone. Going on the pill may not help the problem because cysts are worsened by estrogen. I have gotten a lot of help from books by Dr. John Lee. The topics range from progesterone, to premenopause to menopause, but they have great information no matter what your age.

If you don't know enough about the normal function of your body, it is easy for you to be led astray by well meaning but limited thinking doctors. Check out Dr. Lee's website and take some of the hormone balance quizes. If you seem to have hormone imbalances then check out his books. Being out of balance hormonally will definitely affect NBE.

Thank you so much for all your advice..I've just seen my doctor and she has put me on yasmin..however i just wanted to check that this doesn't affect WU?
Also would anyone on this forum on the pill be able to tell me the name of pills that gave them bigger boobs;)??

Hi J,

I was on Yasmin for about a year and it did not help NBE and the worst part is that I gained weight. If you do the research, Yasmin is a "low hormone" birth control pill. Therefore, it probably does not help many people with NBE. There are other pills that have a higher dose of hormones and those may work better.
