Hope everyone enjoyed the holidays! Did Santa bring anyone a boobie growth spurt? Thought I'd post some info regarding protein, to perhaps help with some routines and nutrition plans.
Protein is essential for growth. You must supply your body with protein DAILY. Protein's importance with NBE is that it manufactures hormones and tissues.
Vit-C and Vit-B6 helps with protein absorption.
Your body can only absorb up to 30grams of protein per intake. If you are supplementing with a protein shake or bar, some have up to 50 grams of protein. If this is the case, you might want to split your bar or split your shake amount. Even body builders split their protein shakes and supplements equally throughout the day for this reason. Maximum absorption without taxing the liver.
Whey protein, unlike soy protein, contains ALL ESSENTIAL amino acids. Essential amino acids are the ones are body does NOT make, and we need to supplement. So whey appears to be superior in that regard. Soy contains high non-essential amino acids, but non-essential amino acids, are the ones are body DOES produce on it's own. Also, if you have any nut allergy, you might have a reaction to a soy supplement.
Anyways, hope this bit of info helps my organic beauties :)
Soy does seem to contain all the essential amino acids - but at about half that of whey protein. That means to get 30 grams of useable protein from soy, you would have to consume 60 grams.
However, high levels of soy consumption can lead to problems. Soy has high amounts of an undigestable material called oxalate. It also can interfere with your thyroid giving hypothyroid like symptoms. And it has anti-nutrients that interfere with protein absorption.
Yeah, I am down on soy, but that's because I made myself sick from it a few years ago. I was drinking 2 soy based protein drinks a day. I ended up with digestive problems, my hair was falling out, I was cold all the time and I was horribly fatigued. Luckily a client of mine gave me an article on the evils of soy and with further research I found the ugly truth. My holistic M.D. advised limiting soy protein to less than 70 grams per day.
I wouldn't recommend using soy to get the 50 grams of protein you need for NBE. That would mean you would have to take in 100 grams, which puts you over the safe limit. If you use soy then use another protein source to make up the difference. And those of you experiencing digestive problems may want to cut down on their soy intake as well.
Hi Moon. I know it sounds so backwards about essential and non-essential. But essential proteins are the ones we need to replace daily because our bodies DON'T produce them. Non-essential proteins/amino acids are naturally occuring and made daily in our bodies, and it isn't vital or necessary to supplement them. Again, non-essential or non-vital. I knew about protein overload, but not about overload in a single sitting or meal. This would explain why body builders appear to be so fanatic about their supplements, not unlike us nbe fanatics ;) and spread their supplements and protein intake by the clock. I'm definitely going to be vigilant on this issue. Why waste money; time and product.

Any amount above 30 grams of protein needs to be taken with some enzyme pills in order to digest it well. You don't have to split a 50 gram protein bar if you don't want to, just take it with some enzymes.
