Hi Christina,
Yes, I tried both progesterone cream and maca. I am still using the progesterone cream but I stopped the maca after a little more than a months use. See my thread titled 'the bottom line on maca' for the details. The short version is that in me, maca promoted 'fat' in my 'butt'. Supposedly maca is an adaptogen - meaning that it promotes your body’s creation of whatever hormone it needs. I question this because I am estrogen dominant and the results of maca were estrogenic in me (fat gain in belly, thighs and butt, bad PMS, etc.) It should have assisted my body in creating more progesterone - and maybe it did, but I am not risking it. I do not like the way I feel and how my body reacts on maca. By the way - no breast increase while I was on it.

However, we are all different in our responses. I used Navitas Natural brand I found after a web search. I used a gelatanized powder that I mixed with my protein drink. Once I got used to the taste it was fine. I would recommend using a small amount at first - no more than the lowest dose the package recommends.

I use progesterone cream from the Now company. You can find it on the internet or perhaps from a local store like I do. Dr Wong recommends using it on the breast twice a day. That goes against several things I know about progesterone. First off, you should vary you application sites to increase absorption and reduce risk of skin reactions. Secondly, application to thin skinned areas with low body fat is better for absorption. I can’t remember if he advises use only during days 12 – 28 of the cycle, but that is the best timing for those who are not menopausal. Dr John Lee has some excellent books on the subject of progesterone I highly recommend.

Hope this is of some help,

Hi waxingmoon....thanks for your reply and suggestion. Im really interested with your personal program you posted here--and very entertaining too :)
btw, i want to know about the cycle, it's really confusing. You mentioned to use progesterone cream during 12-28 days cycle. My last period started dec 26, so when is the best time to use the cream?
And i see you're taking 2000-6000 vit c everyday? is it safe? is it pills or liquid?

Your first day of your period is day 1 of your cycle, so for you, Jan. 5th would be day 12.

Vitamin C has very little toxicity. Dr. Linus Pauling did some great research on it and recommended it at high amounts. Any of his books are great info on this. I have used as much as 20,000 mg of vitamin C per day with no ill effect. It actually really helped my sinuses. I did not stay at that high because it was a hassle to take that much in divided doses throughout the day. Your body will only ingest so much vitamin C before it will dump into your intestines and then you have loose stools. I was taking the high amount as an experiment on my body threshhold level. I never did get the spill over into my intestines, so my top level was probably higher.

So yes, 2000 - 6000 mg per day is fine for me. You may be different. If you want to find out how much vitamin C your body can use, then increase your dosage by about 1000 mg every couple of hours until you reach spill over (the loose stool stage) then back off by 1000 mg until your intestines normalize. Dr. Pauling indicated that a persons needs could vary from 500 mg to up to 50,000 mg. It just goes to show you how different we are from each other and how we each need to find what works for us. There is no perfect plan that works for each person identically.

By the way, I always use buffered forms of vitamin C - unbuffered has too much acid.

Best wishes,
