I am now taking 2 X 425 mg of Wild Yam a day in addition to 500 mg of Fennel & Saw Palmetto. Can anyone tell me whether Wild Yam has helped them much? I thought I read somewhere that Wild Yam was very effective for them. I haven't had much success with NBE since I started in May 2006. Quite tired already...
Would we, if we knew. No one else can tell you what combination is the right for you, you must figure that out yourself. What worked for others says nothing. Not everyonegets lucky on their first trial with NBE, by far, we must do the hit and miss method, do lots of research about herbs and esepcially listen very closely to what's going on inside our body. Everything you ask can be read at the info pages for newbies.
i have heard a couple of girls say they do better once they add ginkgo for circulation, others take vitex for pms and low progesterone but no one knows what is going to work best for you or we would all have our goal boobie size. you will have to do some research, i'm afraid. good luck!
I do agree that none of us can tell you what's wrong, because we are all different and our bodies respond differently. There seem to be lots of different things to try, but let me add one little thing. These seem like very small doses to me. I did not get any sensations or notice any swelling until my doses were in this range:
Note: weight 147 lbs. height 5'.5" (slow metabolism) 37 yrs. old
*Probably a smaller person and a younger person would need smaller doses (my guess)
Other things can help boost your success like the Gingko Biloba. I am going to try some of that soon to help with my circulation.
I would slowly try increasing the dose and pay close attention to how you feel and how your breasts feel. Any tingling, achiness, heavyness, soreness? If so stay at that dose, if not increase a bit or try different herbs like the red clover or fennel etc. Read as much as you can on all herbs and other people's experiences.
Good luck and best wishes!
@Lassysam, those are hellishly high doses!!! I think it's even more than what's safe! It's very unusual that you got results or signs of growth at that high doses if you didn't at lower. If lower doses don't work, it's usually because of something else, in very few cases high doses work when medium/lower don't.
In fact, if your problem is slow metabolism, it's very strange that high doses would help, because the metabolism is the obstacle, it's like in a slow circulation problem - if the circulation is slow and the arterioles are constricted, the transporting capacity of the blood is reached and no matter how much herbs you add, it makes no difference. I would advise you to research into ways to speed up your metabolism. Also consider if you might have a low thyroid activity. Kelp is supposed to help with that, although I personally would get medical treatment if that was even slightly the case.
Btw, I have started taking cayenne instead of GB for circulation and though it hasn't been long, I think cayenne is better. GB made a great change for me only at the beginning, then it seemed to stop working. Besides that, cayenne increases the activity of other some other factor works better than raising the doses.
Oh Moon I'm so glad the cayenne is working for you! The ginko and cayenne seem to still be working for me (when I remember to take them). I think when I run out of this bottle of cayenne, I'm going to get the kind that's easier on sensitive stomaches, since it turns out this stuff is reallllllllly powerful.
Alcest, I totally agree the cayenne capsules is some very powerful stuff on senstive stomaches, the first day I used it I got sick to my stomach, felt very nauseated almost to the point of doing you know what and had heartburn like crazy. So I gave up on taking it in capsule form...I even was taking it right after meals and that didn't help. So now I just sprinkle some on top of my food and I don't have any problems with that. Have you tried just putting a little on some of your foods maybe?
Yes I have resorted to doing what you're doing! Made a huge pot of chili this week, as well as fajitas and foods that I can put the cayenne on. I've also been using hot red pepper seeds, which are also very spicy. I assume they would have a similar effect on my body as the cayenne does. Does anyone know if I am right in assuming this?
Hey there Moon,
These are "hellishly high doses"? (it tickles me the way you word things- laugh). Well this was recommended to me from someone on the BE Board. In fact I was under the impression I could take up to 5 capsules of each a day. (in ramping up to that) That may be why I was feeling unwell towards the end of my last cycle, but I did have very sore boobs and some growth. I will have to re evaluate my plan. I do have bad circulation. The red clover really seemed to help with that when I tried it, but it gave me a migraine probably and a continuous headache until I stopped taking it. I was trying Teder Ta Ta's plan, but now I am back to the Wild Yam since I seemed to be sensitive to the red clover. I have been using the Ginkgo now and it does seem to help some. I do take a thyroid essentials multi supplement that has kelp in it, but it doesn't seem to help any that I've noticed. And I do have cayenne pepper, but I am wary of taking it because I had some the day of my migraine along with the red clover. I do appreciate the heads up though, so I can keep an eye out and make sure I don't over dose on these herbs!
I uderstood from your plan that you take from 6 to 9 capsules of 575 mg fenugreek per ady, is that wrong? In maximum, that's 5175 mg of fenugreek per day. From the newbies info thread:
max daily doses:
RED CLOVER-6 Caps-(2100-2250mg) No more
FENUGREEK-6 Caps-(3600-3720mg) No more
SAW PALMETTO-9 Caps-(4860-5400mg) No More
At +5000 mg of FG per day, you minimum stall, if not harm youself.
If I worded something funnily, it was because I accidently backspaced a line away (obviously); what I was saying there was that high doses usually make no difference from low/medium doses, because the transport capacity of the blood is reached.
@Alcest and Chelle -
I foun info that for most people the normal dose of cayenne is 30 - 120 mg per dose, 3 tims par day, a higher dose provokes sickness and vomiting. A very low dose, compared to how much of other herbs we take, so strong indeed. I found that I'm not sensitive on cayenne at all, I take arround 200 mg 3 times per day (rough estimate, as I fill the capsule myself). I've taken more, like arround 300 mg or even 400 and I got burning in my throat, but nothing in my stomach.
I started with a different kind of cayenne, which wasn't very burning, I could put three or four pinches of it into the lemonade and barely feel it. I'm still not sure if it was the right cayenne, as there wasn't any other name on the bag, but 'sharp paprika' (translated from my language).
Faerycat said she's been eating lots of chilis in the past months and it made a big difference and even her skin got a lot more color.
Something else I wanted to say before (but I accidently backspaced a line) - cayenne is supposed to enhance the activity of other herbs, that would also be quite beneficinal for us.
Sorry I don't get on here every day. Just wanted to let Moon know that I have switched my program because I don't enjoy swallowing all those pills and I have been trying the lower doses. And!!! I am noticing some growth. The tape measure seems to agree. They look rounder on the sides. And the tape is measuring at least 1/4 " to maybe 1/2" more.
I am taking: (Have been doing this for a couple weeks now)
MORNING:
1 ml liquid extract Wild Yam
1 ml liquid extract Saw Palmetto
1 ml liquid extract Fenugreek
1 capsule Ginkgo Bilob
NOON:
1 ml liquid extract Saw Palmetto
1 ml liquid extract Fenugreek
Evening:
1 ml liquid extract Wild Yam
1 ml liquid extract Saw Palmetto
1 ml liquid extract Fenugreek
1 capsule 1300 mg Borage oil
1 capsule 900 mg L-Arginine
And what I meant to say was that those were my dosages from my last cycle prior to Christmas. I am going to post in my program's page now.
I'm gonna have to agree with lassysam about the dosages---I myself was taking 6 pills of each of the herbs she mentioned everyday. I think one could even increase this dosage a little higher if needed. I know it's kind of hard to overdose on these herbs, although I'm sure it's POSSIBLE, I think we'd have to be taking A LOT!!! So I definitely say its perfectly fine to be taking 6 or so pills of each herb everyday, provided your body tolerates it!!
Thanks Moon for mentioning that bout the normal dose of cayenne...that would very well explain why I got sick from it...each cayenne pill I have is 450mg and it says to take 1-3x a day, which the first one I took just gave me lots of heartburn, then after I took the 2nd one later that night, that's when I got really nauseated and sick to the stomach. So thanks for posting that. :)
I'm not an expert at NBE, but I believe there are a few reasons why it is not good to take too high of doses. For one thing, these are powerful herbs that are affecting your homrones. Some herbs even have other side effects on the body, some of which could potentially be dangerous for some people (like lowering blood sugar, etc.) There ARE maximum doses of each herb which are considered safe to take every day, and one should not exceed that.
Also, as Moon was saying, taking high doses from the beginning does not mean you will have better results than with smaller doses. Since your body is not used to the herbs, most of what you take will probably not be absorbed by the body and therefore be wasted. You'd just be wasting money by starting off with 6 or 9 as opposed to 3 caps a day. Also, your body WILL eventually get used to all of those herbs and will begin to require MORE in order to have the same effect (much like with alcoholics or drug addicts - it's called tolerance). You will need to up your doses, which, as explained before, would not be a wise idea. That is why it is recommended to start out with the smallest doses possible required to see growth, and ramp up the doses only when your body starts needing more herbs to have the same effect.
