How do you know if the dose is too low?

Could someone whose had experience with dosaging advice me what I should do.

I'm taking the greenbush extracts, but I mistakingly started with taking 1ml 3 times per day, so a 3,000mg dose per day. When I read the bottle carefully it said 1/2ml 3 times per day, so a 1,500mg dose per day. The thing is I was feeling a fair amount of tingling after a 5 days with the 1ml dosage. Now that I went to the regular dosing I don't have so much soreness and no tingles at all. It's been 4 days since I reduced the dosage. Question is how long should I wait to see if this dosage will work for me or not?

People say that when you notice results you should stick to the dosage you are taking, because if you change it all of the sudden, you can throw off your hormones. I would go back to your original dosage because some people just reacts to a little and not a lot. Give it another week or two on the low dosage and then increase it a little at a time until you notice tingles again and then leave it at that dosage. Remember, if it's not broken, don't fix it! :)

The change in sensations can be to noumerous other factors that the dose, for starting the part of your cycle. Actually it's very likely that they are, the signs are often on and off when you're starting.

But I don't get my period because I'm using the mirena IUD like Donna.
I still ovulate (I think;)...) but I really don't have any PMS signs to let me know when I do. But.......I guess I just have to wait things out. I'll wait a couple of weeks and then start increasing just a bit.

If someone has had the experience I would still like to hear from you. Thanks for the advice Katrina and Moon. Appreciate it.

The dose is too low if it is not working. It can be too low if you are not feeling any growing pains. (itches/deep aches/heaviness/etc.)

Ramping up your dosages until you feel the growing pains is a great way to get to the right dosage. But you need to have a maximum not to exceed because growing pains are not a requirement to grow.

Maximums are different for women of different sizes. A woman who is a 30AAA who has never had children will have a much lower maximum than a woman who has hac children, breastfed them, and is currently a 36C. The more petite one is, the easier it is to stall. So, the ramp up must also be slower.

3000mg of fenugreek per day is fairly standard, but is also a fairly standard maximum for fenugreek unless that is all that is being taken. If you were feeling growing pains at 3000mg then it would be good to go back to it and stick with it. 3000mg per day is not too much for, say a 32A/B or bigger.

If your growing pains go away, then there are ways of dealing with that.

Chances are just because your dosage now is not working, it doesn't mean you should increase your dosage. Most all of us here on Eve's Forum would agree that more is not necessarily better. Taking too much will cause to much estrogen or progesterone, and shut down receptors in the breasts, and that is what stalls growth.

I understand a bit more.

To Wahaika,
What would be the best waiting time to see if the dosage isn't working for me, a month at least? Since I'm a 32AA (I have kids/and breastfed),
1,500mg of Fenugreek and Saw Palmetto should be good enough.

But honestly I don't think I could wait longer than 3 weeks if I don't feel any sensations with the dosage. Because like I said, when I was taking the 3,000mg I was starting to get tingling and soreness and now it's totally decreased.

Hey Ann5

January 19 2007, 3:03 AM

Think we might be the only two here using Mirena IUD - how are you going anyway? Have you contacted the people at Greenbush to find out if taking the higher dosage will cause you any problems if you are getting pains etc. I don't get major pains as such or much in the way of tingles, just tingles now and again( not every day) and little niggley pains some days and not others and I have grown a bit since starting. Guess it's definitely a case of some people growing when they get pains and some seem to grow without. Then again others have reported pains and tingles but no growth. Wouldn't it be great if there was a "one size fits all" method to NBE, but then we wouldn't need this great forum and meet so many others with a similar goal to ourselves. Best wishes to you !!!!

What size were you before children? If you were 32B then I still think that 3000mg is still OK. If you have always been 32AA then the lower dosages are probably better. But it all boils down to what works for you. You have to be the judge.

As for how long to wait in your scenario, I would say a month. But I would also say that it might be better to stop altogether, wait until Day 1 and start over.

Take 500mg for fenugreek for three days. Evaluate.
Add 500mg of saw palmetto for the next three days. Evaluate.
Add an additional 500 mg of fenugreek for the next three days. Evaluate.
Add an additional 500mg of saw palmetto for the next three days. Evaluate.
...
and so on until you start feeling growing pains, or hit your maximums that you have set for yourself, at which point you decide whether to go higher, add something else, or some combination.

Thanks Donna, same to you.

I'm sorry I forgot to respond to your reply. I sure wish it was that easy. How's the mirena going for you? The herbs have helped with my spotting. I will be contacting Greenbush soon. I'll probably do that now so I wont forget. Take care.

dosaging liquid extracts

January 20 2007, 11:31 PM

I know one size does not fit all. I just wanted to tell you that I am taking the liquid extracts from Green bush and if I take less than 3 mls a day I lose those sensations also. Just wanted to let you know.
I take
3 mls each of Fenugreek, Wild Yam and Saw Palmetto a day
My stats are different than yours though, but like you, when I lower the dose, the sensations go away.
Also, I am not on any BC. Had a tubal :)
I am impatient also, if I don't have sensations then I make changes until I do. Hey, I'm 37 yr. old and life is short.

I haven't been on the herbs too long, 10 days to be exact. Not sure if that's long enough to get that side effect. But I do take superfoods, which has a lot of B, C vitamins/ and some iron/zinc. Before NBE, if I wouldn't take superfoods I would get sluggish. Since I drink the stuff it goes to the bloodstream right away. Are you taking some vitamins on the side?

vitamins

January 21 2007, 4:01 AM

I don't think I am getting the right amount of the right kinds of vitamins. I just got done reading an article that said that B5 nourish's the adrenals and if tired from stress taking 1,000 mg Vit C for 2 weeks should help. Also, the multi I was taking didn't even have any iron it, so I picked up some today. Hopefully these will help me feel better. Thanks for the suggestion.

Ok, Greenbush replied and said that I should go back to the 3,000mg dose. I'll be ramping up slowly. It's been a week now and I have no soreness or tingles.
