Well I downloaded and actually purchased the Serif photo software. It was cheap enough, so I figured why not. I took my 2 pics, and I "sort of" figured out how to airbrush my tattoo artwork off my chest, but I couldn't figure out how the heck to save my work.
Help! I'll be gone most of the weekend, but if you could offer any assistance for me, I'd be ever grateful.
Hi, I'm glad you figured it out :)
I have the old version of PhotoPlus but I am pretty sure it works in the same way
Once you have finished editing your work
* click on the File menu
* Find Export... (a window should pop up)
* Choose a location to save it in and name the file
* Save as type: JPEG
You also might want to save it in PhotoPlus picture format, just in case you want to go back and edit the picture.
* File Menu >> Save As
* Save as type: PhotoPlus Pictures
Hope that was clear, but I'll be around if you have any questions.
Thanks Suki! I just read your post. I'll see if I can get it figured out this evening. I did manage to somehow save the pic inside the Serif window. The "blackened out" parts that I airbrushed out(my tattoo artwork) still show though. Does that get removed once I export it? Well thanks again, and I'll let you know if I have success. :)
Hi Suki! Well, still no luck with editing these darn pics. I figured out how to get them into the photo edit area. I figured out the airbrush deal.....sort of. I can "brush" the tattoos away, but I don't know how to clear it out, so that you will only see natural flesh tones. Ggrrr. I'm getting frustrated to say the least. Would you be so kind, as to tell me how to do that final airbrush step. Many, many thanks Suki!
Hi organic angel, sorry that it has taken me a while to reply, been hectic here.
Here are some ways you can edit your photo:
Creating a layer is optional but helps to use them so if you want to delete or add things its much easier
* Create a new layer
* On your layer manager tab click on the + on the bottom right
(if you don't see a layer manager tab click on View>>Layer Manager tab)
* Give the layer a name and click OK
Method 1: Using Airbrush tool
* Select Color Pickup tool on the main toolbox
* select a skin color tone (anywhere on your picture)
* Choose the airbrush tool and go over the bits you want to cover
* you can also use the Smudge tool to help you blend what you have covered.
Method 2: Using clone tool
* If you created a layer make sure your Background layer is selected
* Select the clone tool
* Press shift and click on the image at the same time
I think the help in Photoplus described it better...
"To tell the Clone tool exactly where to start picking up the image, you Shift-click to define a pickup point (let's call it point A). Your next click (say, at point B) defines a "putdown" or painting point—and begins the first brush stroke. During the stroke, imagine you have one brush picking up the image from point A, while another puts it down at point B"
This way you can 'clone' some bits of the non-tattooed skin on.
I hope that helped...sorry not very good at explaining things, but feel free to ask.
I found a tutorial for using the clone stamp but unfortunately its in pdf form and you need to download it, but since you bought the program maybe you already have the tuts
Organic Angel, I had a go at removing the tattoo for you, but it's a difficult job because there is so much of it, being such an extensive tattoo, and the software I have to do the job is limited. The program you're using mentioned above should do a reasonable job if you're using a clone tool or a smudge tool and once you're finished you only need to save it by exporting it, again as mentioned above. I can't help you with airbrushing as such, because I'm a beginner at these things myself, but cloning or smudging should work.
Thanks Suki and Eve. I appreciate your help. As you know I decided to just have it posted as is. Maybe for my follow up pics, I'll get it figured out. Thanks again!
