Is this protein drink good?

I'm going to start drinkin protein shakes to gain weight because I've inexplicably lost like 10 pounds and I'm down to 93lb. I went to GNC today and I was hoping to buy a whey protein drink, but a man there told me that it wasn't such a good idea for women to drink whey protein drinks because they were mainly meant for men who work out because what it does is support the building of muscles in the body. So he convinced me to buy a soy protein drink instead. Is this good?

Since I've known about NBE, I understood that whey is the best protein to consume. I think because of the amino acids. Soy has some but not as complete. Correct me if I'm wrong.

women can drink whey

true, a lot of men use it for body building because the amino acids help repair the muscle tissue.

you can still drink it, and get the advantages of the amino acids as well...

what it sounds like you are looking for is a straight up weight gainer, which a lot of the soy drinks are not really meant for. creatine (i may have spelled that wrong) and whey can both do that... but if you are looking for weight gainer, you need to buy weight gainer. gnc should have some, so should walmart or any sports store...

good luck! if youre like me you have a hard time gaining weight, particularly once it is lost... make sure you do it in a healthy fashion (burgers and fries arent always the best idea)!

Boobies ~ stay away from creatine whatever you do!!!! Its not something you want to take to gain weight. The whey protein is fine for women, you just don't want to take as much as bodybuilders do. I myself take the whey protein shakes, but not from gnc, I have never been treated decently when I go there so I use the shake from the Vitamin Shoppe. I have problems with my weight and have lost upwards of 15lbs in a month before, no explanation and all the tests came out normal. My suggestion would be to eat foods that aren't low fat. So regular yogurts and cream cheeses and things that are rich, these are healthier then fried foods and cookies, like Emmie said. Also try excercising a little (if you don't already) or cut back on excercising (if you do!!) For me excercise seems to help me maintain my weight a little better, can't really explain it, but I seem to keep it on when I do. My doctor also said to take those breakfast shakes, I use the carnation brand cause its the only one I can find, can't remember why, but I think it has to do with the vitamins and stuff.............. I don't know much about soy protein so I can't really answer that question.

Gaining Weight

Here is a good protein powder with a good amino acid profile:

Gaining weight also depends on your diet, age, metabolism, where you want to gain it and what you are willing to do. I'd say if you are under age 30, don't worry, it will catch up with you. Enjoy it while you can.
