Hello my organic beauties! Thought I'd share with you my first acupuncture visit today. What a great experience. I decided to seek this method out, as a way to further reduce my hormone imbalance, and bring all my hormones into harmony. My acupuncturist was soooo thorough. She spent almost a full hour just doing my physical history, going all the way back to when I had my first period. She also specializes in womens health and fertility with her acupuncture. Let's just say, she knows hormones.
The actual needle placing was very interesting. I had them placed on top of my head, in my ears, my forehead, feet, shins and arms. What was most surprising, is before she even stuck 1 needle in, she located each hormone site with percision. She would say to me..."this should feel like a super tender bruise", indicating that she is in the correct spot. Just by touching the very precise spot, I almost yelped. I couldn't believe it. The needle placement was nothing compared to her finding that trigger point.
She is in high demand, and has even worked with Deepok Chopra, for those of you who know of him. I'll be going once weekly for 2 months, and from there we'll see how often. I felt lots of "sensations of current" in isolated spots. Wierd, neat and exciting.
Anyways, I thought I'd share for anyone interesting in other alternative ways to balance hormones. Apparently the success rate is quite impressive, and it's systemic, meaning it helps to balance all systems in your body. At my next appt with my Naturopath, I'm going to ask for a blood test, to see if things have balanced out for me. And hey...no needle marks (hee-hee)
that sounds really great, i have been thinking of trying some alternative therpies to help with my NBE but have to leave it for now for financial reasons. but my son's ostheopat suggested trying acupuncture next time we see him as the other treatment didn't work.... but that's a different story

sounds interesting Organic Angel. Acupuncture is used in all kinds of treatments and looks like you found a good specialist. Too bad health insurance companies don't provide coverage for that type of treatment. I think it can really help a lot of people too. Good luck with your treatments and keep us posted. Any luck with getting rid of all those fans of yours yet? Have you tried Damiana? It's suppose to help with hormone balance and hot flashes too. Don't know if it works faster than vitex. I'm thinking about switching to Damiana to see if that helps with my NBE more. Maybe my body needs something different once in a while.
Mark: Definitely give the acupuncture a go. It is only a recent add-on to our health insurance coverage, and it's much more afforadable, when you only have to pay for a copay office visit. I would have explored it much sooner, but didn't have the option before.
Wonderbride: You know I slept GREAT last night, after my first treatment. I truly believe it did something. The hot flashes have subsided a LITTLE, but in about 10 days, I have another appt with my Naturopath, and I'm going to talk about getting another blood test, to see where my hormone levels are now, and see about bio-identical hormone therapy. I have 2 compounding pharmacies here in town that mix them from Naturopaths. In the meantime....the hurricane simulator is still in operation ;)
I'll keep you posted on follow-up treatments, and if I think they're working.
