Ok, stupid question for a 40 yr old to ask, but I'm gonna.... I always start my period in the evening. Just a few drops, like a warning, hardly ever do I wake up to it. The next day is normally a really heavy day. So do I count that evening as day 1, or the next day of heavy bleeding as day 1?

Some of you seem so in tune to the phases of the cycle, more than I ever thought about, but I'm just curious in case I ever do progesterone or wild yam cream. Thanks -- Sissy

im not sure, i think the heavy is day1, and the light is called spotting? but i wanted to say ive always been like you. tho since taking wu i now have two days of 'spotting' four 'heavy' days and two 'spotting' days at the end. plus my period starts exactly at the same time every month now :S a bit strange hehe thort i sud share xxx

I have the same problem. The night before its very light spotting and then the next morning its watch out!!! I usually count the day its heavy as my official day, never really though of it otherwise, now I am curious as to what the correct starting day should be?

Hm well, I think you should count the first day as day one, no matter how weak it is.

I would like to know the answer to this question as I have the same problem also. If I count the first drip day as the first day, then that makes my period !6! days long this last time. I have always wondered if that first day of "notice" was to be considered and counted as day one of cycle.

just saw this post, had problems with pc last couple of days but hopefully it's ok now. i have the same problem sometimes, i think the day it's heavy is day 1, especially if it starts (that spotting) in the evening, i wouldn't count that as a whole day, but that's just my opinion
