this is strange but i thought of asking anyway. i have some issues in my personal life that really bring me down these days and usually when this happens i have zero apetite. Last time it totally messed up my cycle. now i have been on my routine for few weeks and i don't want to skrew it. Luckily i like the proteinpowder but of course it's not enough. how do u conquer the feeling of throwing out?
Bonnette, I am sorry to hear that you are going through a bad time.
I know what you are going through, I had the same problems last year this time and I never eat much when I am stressed either.
Because I lost quite a bit of weight during the summer I try to drink the protein shake and just eat as regularly as possible, even though I feel sick when I do quite often as well. I found that mixing fruit like banana in milk shakes is an easy way of adding fat and protein to your diet and it doesn't feel like food so much since you can drink it.
Buy the foods you generally like to eat and try to stick to a regular schedule when you eat. Like that your body is used to the constant food intake, and even if you eat small portions, as long as you do so regularly, you should be okay, at least you shouldn't lose any weight.
it has some useful tips and on the last page it gives you a guide of foods to eat and the calorie content, so you can pick and chose what you like. (If you don't have power point, try just http://www.snac.ucla.edu/ there is a lot of stuff on there too, or you can download open office for free and you should be able to view it with that.)
Those are only suggestions and it isn't like a diet you have to stick to, just try and eat regularly throughout the day and I am sure you will be fine.
I know it is hard but try and snack as much and as often as you can, nuts and seeds are great for that, or just have cereal bars in between. The snacks can get your calories up and they aren't like a whole meal in front of you that you have to eat.
Exercise helps in reducing stress, so if you manage to do some kind of aerobic exercise for about 30 minutes 5 days a week you will start feeling better as well, it may take a few weeks to notice the effects properly though if you aren't used to exercising. Anything you enjoy like cycling, swimming etc. or just walking to and from work etc. is great, and it brings up appetite as well.
I hope this helps a bit and that you feel better soon!

Bonnette I can sympathize as well. Whenever under stress its like my body shuts down. I even went and had counselling thinking I had an eating disorder. They suggested that I take a breakfast shake in the morning and throughout the day just so my body was getting all the nutrients I needed and to eat light food, such as fruits and some veggies. If you eat anything, even if its alittle bit then its a good thing. Overall there isn't anything wrong with your body acting that way, it does things for a reason. Just try to eat alittle bit, or at least take something to get the nutrients you need, and in time it will past.
i get that way but not only when i am down. stop eating when i am tired, occupied, or just foot feel like it. i rather go to sleep hungry rather that wait the ten minutes it would take to eat and put off sleeping for a little while. i found i was pretty bad at this while was pregnant. i would drink those 'ensure' drinks to keep my weight up instead of eating heavy meals. it kept my doc off my back. :) good luck.
Hi I am going through something similar right now, my body doesn't want food at regular times...I can only really seem to eat at night but during the day I am only able to eat when I am so weak and starving and afterwards I feel really sick.
Sometime ago I also had problems with my cycle - it would come and stop and 2 weeks later come again.
I've started making a food diary for myself, this helps me think about what snacks to prepare for the next day.
I found yoghurt doesn't go down too badly, and I manage to drink soymilk most days too.
Get well soon!
Sorry to hear about you feeling down, lack of appetite etc. I lost over half a stone due to stress and it will just not go back on ( nearly two years on - still stressed). My boobs went as flat as pancakes - it always goes from your boobs :(
I try to eat cheese, pasta, chicken and eggs as these are great for fat, carbohydrate andprotein - so even if you don't have a lot, you are having what your body needs to keep going.
Hope you feel better soon.
xx
like now, it's morning and i could probably bare only a yogurt and some fruit. Will go and buy some proteinpowder today although it's so so expensive here. I'm just sorry cos i was feelin tiny bit of sensations already yesterday.
i don't know when i'm going to heal. Tried partying yesterday but that also is no good for NBE and made the feeling worse later. i felt seriously tipsy for the first time of my life and it felt so good. and then i thought there are so many things i haven't done and said and i can't anymore cos it would not matter anymore.Oh i'm not going to be a drunker i just want to forget.
I'm really sorry to hear you have problems Bonette. I think that mental state is very important for NBE. I was always stressed up and I wonder if that is the reason I didn't have sucess so far. So I decided to work on it with with mind techniques like hypnosis and subliminal messaging, also started doing yoga and relaxation. I realized that I simply have to do this anyway, cause my head was just to screwed up, so I also went to see a psychologicst. I can't really tell you a magic solution of how, but I think you should work on your general feeling and mental state. Just consider all the opptions, whare the problem lies and what you could do about it. Sometimes it's also better to not do NBE while your life is very stressful and start it when certain transitional stresses are over (my case, so I'm on a brake right now). Anyway Good luck!
I'd say take a break from NBE, and then re-start later. The herbs can really wreck havic on your emotions. And a break might be just the thing you need.
Also try going for some small walks, even if its around the block, it really does help you feel better!!!
If all you can stomach is some yogurt and fruit, then eat as much as you can. Its better to eat a little bit then nothing at all.
Drinking isn't the way to go, but I'm not going to call the kettle black, just be careful.
oh i did not mean i go for alcohol, really never. it just made me wonder there are many things in life i have missed out because of my invented morals and ethics and maybe it's one of the reasons things are like that. But i know deep down it's not my fault. i just so much hate when decisions are made for me and relationships end. and when u are far away u have no chance to fight for it.
i thought maybe taking spoonfuls of flaxseed oil and good amounts of proteinpowder would keep me good as an addition to the other stuf that i can make myself swallow.
