| Hi lisa
I just started taking nettle root pills about 2 days ago. I heard that nettle root pills are much stronger than nettle leaf tea when it comes to its anti-androgenic effects so I hope the nettle root helps with my acne. Thanks for the tip. I used to follow surf`s program for two months or so and took fenugreek, saw palmetto end evening primrose oil and guess what one or more of those herbs gave me terrible acne. I think girls like you and me shoul follow a different program than girls who are low on estrogen. I`m on vitex now and hoping it`ll help with my acne like it did in fearycat`s case. I`m on week 5 of vitex and so far not much is happening. Best boobie wishes to all. |

I noticed Lisa121 answered You in another thread
Melosh, I have high androgen levels and what helps clear my acne up at least some is drinking nettle LEAF tea. It helps clear the blood so I guess it is down to that since I don't know it to have any anti androgenic properties. The nettle root seems to help me with my hairiness, but not sure with the acne since taking Fenugreek makes it really bad and I usually take them together for BE. I started drinking Spearmint tea and can't wait to see what difference that makes.

Thanks Bonnette, for pasting that for me :-).
Melosh, I don't think you are estrogen dominant, the symptoms you describe sound like androgen dominance to me. Here is a link about hirsutism (excess hair growth caused by androgen dominance) and some info on what it is, what you can do with diet etc. and some of the concerns that come with it.

As for the different program to follow, Fenugreek causes spots in many women, I think it is just to do with the phytoestrogens and because you are trying to mimic puperty and are messing about with your hormones, so it kind of makes sense that you would get some puberescent side effects.
What we need if we are androgen dominant is some more anti androgenic herbs, or higher dosages of them, such as Sp or Nettle root. The vitex can help too, I used it for a few months myself in conjunction with a routine and I grew with it as I did without it, but never tried it on its own so far.
You can check out my program page and see what I have done so far. I have grown a good amount and am now nearly an A cup compared to pretty much nothing, I wouldn't even call it AAA, before I started 12 months before. |
