What is the difference between the seach at the top of the page and the seach found on the main menu?

The site search found on the main menu searches the entire site, whereas the search option at the top of each forum only searches that particular forum.
On the subject of searching, I'll have a look at the issues raised in another thread by double_ace/louise/waxingmoon and see if I can help the searching process in any way.

I was asked by Louise if there's any way to make searches use "quotation" to find words in a certain order, but this search feature is actually enabled already. Both the forum searches and the site search accept these exact match search queries and to be sure I tested them both, using Louise's original question as an example. If Louise searches for the phrase "certain order" using either the forum search for this forum or the full site search, the result should be that she finds her original post containing the question I'm answering now.

I find the search option extremely convenient and useful.It i s so similar to google(or any search engien for that matter) and I love to google thing s out!great job eve..:)

I use the search feature all the time and haven't had any trouble finding anything. One thing I would like is to be able to click on a particular name and be able to see all of that persons posts. Many other forums have that feature and I think it would be great if this forum had that too. Everything else on this forum is pretty much perfect. Good job!

You can do that!
You click on the button "view thread" right next to the post name. It's really small.

Yup that's true Jackie but I think she meant there should be a link on our actual names that let's us search all the posts by a certain person. So for instance, if I wanted to try find a certain post you made about trying the vaccum on your lips (hehe) than I could just click your name and see all your past posts :)

Yes, Hopeful88 that's exactly what I meant. The BE board and the NB forum both have this feature and it comes in very handy for doing research. Thanks for clarifying things. Cheers.

I've tried this several times and never got it to work, it always brings up loads of stuff, but I haven't tried it for a while. I know it's related to google which is why I expected it to work in the first place. Sorry!

Regarding your request, the site search should already return the information you are looking for. To take the example given above, if you type in Jackie's login which is classyfashh you will find that the search result returns all Jackie's posts. You can also search for classyfashh and vacuum or alternatively classyfashh and lips or even for classyfashh and vaccum and lips, each search returning progressively fewer results. But the main point is that classyfashh finds all Jackie's posts, which I think is the main thing you are looking for.
To take the similar example given by waxingmoon in another thread, which was a search for the name and content of waxingmoon and maca, the site search returns 5 results for this query, so again it seems to successfully find the information being looked for.
I should add that this works best where a login is not the same as someone's name, as where the two are the same you will also find posts returned in the results in which someone is directly addressing that person - if you search for waxingmoon you'll see what I mean. But where the two are different, such as Louise1982 and Louise, you should find that it works perfectly.
