I was wondering if anyone knew of any ways to darken the color of your nipples. a friend told me that lying in the sun might do the trick, but any other thoughts?

the only way i know how is by tanning them. if you dont want to tan outside topless, maybe try a tanning bed for a little while.

It may helps to darken your nipples a bit, but overall your skin will be darken at the same time. However I don't think that's a good idea, sun is very bad to your skin, it certainly make your skin age quicker and it will cause skin cancer if you exposure to the sun too much...you could get cosmetics tattoo on your nipples, may be you should do some research or book in for a consultation.

Many women experience a permanent darkening of their nipples from pregnancy... but I doubt you are willing to go that far for this... lol.

There are always vegetables dyes or food coloring that could create a temporary effect. You wouldn't want to use just any kind of dye or ink because the nipple can absorb chemicals - however, something that is food grade should be okay.
