So I have had a lump in my breast for a couple months ehich is why i took a break from NBE (and I was having results too =() and I finally went to the doc today as it has been growing and becoming painful.
The doc could not confirm if it was a cyst or something else, but indicated it may need to be drained. He was in a rush so i couldnt really ask questions (i went to a walk in clinic).
So now I have an ultrasound booked and im kinda freaking out. Do cysts generally hurt? has anyone had one drained before? what are indications it may be something else??
Will it be ok to start nbe again if this is just a cyst and it goes away?
Finding a lump in your breast is scary, and I know just how you feel.
The fact that it is hurting is a good sign, it means that it isn't cancer as those tumours are generally painless.
When I fell pregnant with my first, I grew a lump in my breast, which my GP dismissed without even checking it(??!!).
It started to hurt when I was breastfeeding, and even grew a little in size.
I went to the breast specialist, and he drained a little fluid off it with a needle (which really didn't hurt too much) and sent it away for analysis, it was a hormonal growth.
My understanding of NBE is that it replicates the hormones during pregnancy or puberty so that we can grow our boobs (please correct me if I'm wrong). If it is a homonal growth NBE may have contributed to it??? But then it may not have..
I'm not sure about cysts though and what causes these.
Once you find out what it is exactly then you will have a better idea as to what caused it.
Rest assured though, hormonal growths and cysts, do not turn into cancer.
Even though I had this problem in the past, I am still giving NBE a go, I guess if I developed another during my program I may stop, I feel though, for myself the chances of it happening again are minimal.
I hope this helps you a little bit - hang in there champ. you'll be alright! Just take it one step at a time :)
Thanks soo much Lilly!!! You really dont know how much better you made me feel!
Im glad t know cancer doesnt usually hurt, cuz what I have is definitely painful.
Thanks for sharing what happened to you, im sorry you had to go through all that. Having your boob drained is such a scary thought!
I will keep posted about whats going on, thanks so much for your input!
My roomate found a lump in her breast a few years back and had it biopsied and removed. It turned out to be a cyst as well, completely benign - and other than telling her to cut back on caffeine and monitor the meds that heavily effected hormones (BCP, and prescription acne medication), the doctor said that it was a completely random thing that she wouldn't likely have difficulties with again. I have faith that you'll be just fine as well! =)
Yes it does sound like a cyst. I agree with what's been said above that cancer tumours are supposed to be painless.

breast lump

i too discovered a lump several years ago, the doc tried to drain it but got nothing, which concerned the doc. 1 week and 2 days after finding it i was in surgery,(after also having a mammagram) they removed it and did an initial test on it right in the surgery room...luckily it was just a cyst. The doc said that it was unusual that it being a cyst he couldn't drain anything. i consider myself very lucky!!!!!! My doc felt as i did that it wasn't suppose to be there, we weren't sure what is was so let's get it out and be SURE of what it is instead of guessing. I have not had any pop up since then and that was in 1994.
My advice is to be pushy about this with your doc, make sure you do any tests or procedures right now!!!! If he doesn't feel its more than a cyst and won't remove it, and you don't feel comfortable with this, then go to another doc. It is YOUR body...you make the decisions!!!!! if the second doc feels it doesn't need to be removed and your are comfortable with the fact that you have been told the same by two docs, then keep a close eye on it. Docs are human, they are not perfact....thats why it is called the "practice of medicine". That doesn't mean i am saying that he is a bad doc....just that we need to do what is comfortable to us.
the first step, obviously is to wait for the results of the drainage, then go from there.
I will pray for you...please keep us informed, let's us know what the test results are.
Thanks everyone for your advice and support. I definitely tons better!
I will keep posted about what this is. I just really hope it wasnt caused from nbe, I dont think it was, and I hope im right as i'd really like to start back when this is fixed lol
Sweetie, from what I've heard everyone talk about in this thread...it sounds like you have something completely different. You said yours had to be "drained" and theirs sounds hardened...to be "removed". I may not be a doctor but I've heard a lot on this site about using herbs, oils, etc. and ABSOLUTELY having to MASSAGE. I've heard women on here talking about it bringing blockages, that's what yours sounds like to me. Maybe you had all that excess growth in the milk ducts and tissue and it had no where to go so it built up or got infected. I will research it further if you'd like...but you should definately ask your doctor all about it and maybe mention your boobie-growing methods...it might add to his info so he can better tell you what it is.
Hi guys! So after an ultrasound and biopsy (ouch) it turns out I have 2 fibroadenomas (both in the same breast).
I asked my doc if it was from the herbs and he said no, its just random, but my instinct tells me Natalie may be on to something and maybe it was cuz I didnt massage.
Anyways, I was thinking I wouldnt mind starting nbe again as things were going good.
Do you guys think its ok?
I was having good results of herbs but was thinking of tring PM even though im on the pill. What do you guys think?
Glad you are okay. Why don't you have your doctor check your hormones. Yes, it is true that the herbs were most likely not at all to blame in this. But here is something to consider - some hormone states do seem to contribute to benign breast lumps.
I worry that using a substance as strong as PM if you had a tendency for estrogen dominance might not bring up another 'lump'. Again what I am talking about is a pre-existing condition being made worse by the use of a highly potent phytoestrogen.
I know that treating my estrogen dominance resulted in the complete resolution of my fibrocystic breast condition. If you really wanted to be sure that nothing you did would contribute in a negative way to your breast health - now would be the time to have some hormone testing done (I am assuming you have been off of all the herbs during this time).
Thats a great Idea actually!
Yes I did stop all herbs whele this was going on (but didnt lose all my growth yay!) but I think your right, I definitely should get all my hormones checked and see whats going on.
Is there any specific test I need to ask for or will they know if I just say I want my hormone levels tested?
