So I am pretty meticulous about my lip care. Multiple times throughout the day I apply lip moisturizer and am never caught dead chapping. Two times in the last two months I noticed what I would describe as less than soft lips! Not chapped, because I still routinely apply my lip balm, but an insatiable thirst on the top layer of lip. Harder, less moist and smooth than usual.
I have noticed and read that the elevated estrogen in the system before one's period causes slightly plumper lips. I had an AHA! moment when I realized that this weird lip thing the past two months occurs between days 5 and 10 of my period... after my period when my hormones are low. Weird... but I am almost positive there is a correlation! I hope this isn't old news that everyone knows... look for it on days 5-10!!
I have the dry-lip problem unless i apply chapstick, but since i started taking collagen, i noticed my skin is softer, moist, and my lips are rarely dry.
be sure not to lick your lips, as this dries them out.
I experience this too, but I just never really made the connection to my cycle. I'm on day 6 now, and my lips are thinner and dryer than a week or so ago. (It has also been very cold here in Florida lately, but even so, this is a usual occurrence with me.) Interesting stuff, thanks for pointing out the connection! =)
So I took one collagen capsule in the morning and one at night every day since I posted the original message above. I am on day 8 of my cycle right now. Dry, tougher lip problem, GONE!
I have really good feelings about collagen. If it is changing the hormonal impact on my lips, I imagine it is great for the aging female body that loses bone integrity, skin moisture, and other things associated with a decrease in hormones!

NYMPH! What kind of collagen do you take? I've considered taking it too but was afraid I was just buying into another hype/trend... but this makes me want to try it!
