balancing hormones- can u confirm?March 4 2009 at 11:22 PM | Sharlene (no login) |
| Hi girls,
I am embarking on NBE for the second time. A couple of years ago I had a try of fenugreek for a couple of months and then wonderup for 5 months with no obvious growth.
I then had a second baby who I stoppped breast feeding in Jan 2009. So I am looking into nbe again- have somewhat deflated A cup breasts- was a B cup prior to children.
I have read a lot more this time, thanks to all of you generous posters. I went right back to the start and read newcomers info etc. Anyway, I have done the hormone balance survey and I rate as estrogen dominant most strongly, with excess estrogen and a progesterone deficiency.
Could this be why I didn't respond much to the estrogenic herbs? I have started on Vitex- about three weeks ago- 1 500mg capsule per day. I have read that Vitex takes a while to work. Am inpatient but don't want to overload body with other herbs that won't work.
I also take borage oil and flaxseed oil, multivitamin for general heath- do you think this is ok.
?
After I allow the vitex to work for a while I am thinking of trying goat's rue. Any feedback?
In the meantime I am also using some non-herbal approaches - massage and hypnosis.
Have also increased protein in my diet. I really feel like my boobs are getting more density / firmness although not really bigger yet. I keep visualising how I want to be!
Thanks for any feedback x |

Hi Sharlene,
Good work so far. I think you are doing the right thing for your estrogen dominance. You are correct, it will take a few months before you feel the positive effect of vitex.
Goat's rue is a good choice and should not cause a problem with your ED, but you must wait to use it until you stop the vitex completely because vitex lowers prolactin which is what Goat's rue would raise. (not that you necessarily want vitex to lower your prolactin, that is just a side effect, but it would render the Goat's rue useless)
Everything else you are doing seem right on track as well. Massage can really be a great asset while you are doing the vitex. The nutritional support and the protein will allow you to get over the ED faster.
One suggestion. If you are high in estrogen you can help bring levels lower by using 1 - 2 tablespoons of crushed flaxseed per day. Flaxseed is a low potency phytoestrogen (lignan) that binds to estrogen receptors and prevents higher potency estrogen from activating them.
So far so good. Just be patient with the process and I am sure you will achieve your goals.
Best wishes,
