Bra Size issues -- any advice

Hi everyone,

My ribcage (right under bust measurement) is 28 inches.
My bust measurement is 32.5 inches.

I am completely confused as to what my size is. I have been wearing a 36A (gel) but if feels really tight around my ribcage and I have red marks under my breasts.

However, I don't have much on top to fill a cup size. I can't imagine fitting into a B, I really don't have filled out breasts.

In the main forum, according to Emmie's bra size guide, if I measure from the middle to the end of my breast,it is 7 inches...which is a B

Online, putting in these measurements, some sites show me as an AA others as an A.

Please know that I am not asking for advice because I am lazy. I have had this dilemma for years. I am too shy to get a fitting as I feel my breasts are too small.

Any advice would be appreciated...

Thanks in advance,

Orillia

I have similar underbust measurements - between 28 and 29 inches - however I feel 32 and 34 underbust bras fit the best. I am surprised you are using a 36, that is huge on me and I am a little bigger than you underbust. If I was you I would go to a store that sells bras and just try on all kinds of sizes until you find the best fit.

Good luck

Hi Orillia,

Your measurements are nearly exactly the same as mine!!
I am 28" underbust, and 32" across, my individual breast measurement is 8"

I wear a 32 band (or 10) in Australia, and a C cup (the B cuts off all of the side tissue so I have bits out the side). You are supposed to wear your bra on the loosest clasp. I don't have big breasts, and a 32C cup is more like a 34B in cup size, or a 36A in cup size. So it might be worth grabbing a 32C, or 34B next time you go shopping and try them on for size.

A 32 band is meant for someone who is 32" across their bust. And 34 for someone who is 34". They say if you fall on an odd number then you round up eg. 33" would = a 34 band.

Hope this helps :)

But see, this confused me as well, bc I dont think there's a direct coordination btwn the underbust and your band size like 32=32 , which I know sounds like it doesnt make sense, but Im the same way. I have a 29 underbust but also need a 36.
Ive been measuring and trying different calculators and they all keep saying 32 or 34, but that just would never fit me. I tried adjusting straps different cupsizes etc, but the 36 is the only that doesnt hurt or feel restricting.
So its strange lol Maybe theres some other factor coming into play like the shape of your ribcage or your shoulderblades or something, not just the actual measurement. ???

Forget charts, you are the size which fits you. We don't all have the same shape of the ribcage, chest and back muscles, shoulder baldes. If 36 band is tight then you are 38, if B cup is loose then you are A, etc.

Yeah - I am TINY around my ribcage. That info was what they told me after I got fitted at a bra store. I am always confused when I see girls with huge (what I think is huge) across bust measurements and they wear the same size bra as me??? But perhaps they are wider across the the back than me. And to make it worse, different brands have different sized 32C's. So even when you think you've got it sorted - you don't!! Argh!! I feel your pain!

Its comforting to know that this frustration is experienced by others -- though I wish that wasn't the case....why does it have to be so complicated! Thanks everyone for your feedback:)

I am going to try to muster the courage to get a fitting....just so shy about exposing myself.

I figured that there must be others with my measurements or close -- since we are all here for NBE for a reason:)

My underbust is 28 inches and my bust in 33 inches. I wear a 32B quite comfortably, though some B's can be a little small. Try out a 32/34 B or even a C, you might be surprised how they fit. Though it would probably be best to go with a good brand, not any cheap ones since those sizes can be less reliable. Don't know what you usually go after...
