Just wondering what type of protein shakes you girls drink? I don't want anything that has an excessive amount of calories or fat, but I need the protein.
Any specific brands would be great! Or recipes on how you make yours would be greatly appreciated!
You can find protein shake mix's in the health food section of your local grocery store. It is near the slim fast. There are a couple different brands. I use EAS Soy Protein mix. They have chocolate and vanilla. I mix mine with a cup of soy milk and a banana. Doesn't taste bad at all.
I ended up getting 100% whey protein, I hope it will taste okay because I'm vegetarian (not vegan which is why I got the whey instead of soy) and need the extra boost of protein. Alright, I'm off to try it!
Does anyone else have the problem of the whey protein not mixing well? My drink tends to come out very grainy and I can't stand to drink it. Could it be because of the brand I'm drinking. Maybe this is not the highest quality? What should I be looking for when buying to avoid this?
I always had that problem if I was mixing with a spoon. Have you tried using a blender or small mixer like a Magic Bullet? The other thing that works better than mixing with a spoon is using a shaker.

Protein shakes

What I did was warm up some soy milk and mix it in to the chocolate flavor whey powder, It mixed well since it was warm, wasn't chunky at all and tasted pretty good! Not the best cup of hot chocolate i've ever had, but much better then I thought it would be.
We might consider simple gelatin powder, the one ment for bakery, instead of regular protein shakes. It too is pure protein, probably cheaper and may have similar benefits to chicken feet soup.

Thanks moon. I have not heard this one yet. Does it come in flavors? Also, does it have a high cholesterol content? the whey mix I have does, which is why I don't drink it everyday. Does whey usually have cholesterol?
I think it's usually just pure glatin, contains nothing else. Maybe there are other types of combinations but I haven't seen them so I think pure gelatin is the most common. You can get it either in piece, or in powder which you put it in a little water water and get jelly. It doesn't have any taste, but I still find it kinda jucky to just eat it. I melt it and pour it into yoghurt. Gelatin is a breakdown product of collagen, supposedly the main ingredient of chicken feet soup, so we're hoping gelatin powder will have the same effects.
Can it be put into drink mixes in its powder form or does it have to be mixed into a gel, and would the gel taste ok in a drink or is it better in food?
Dunno, never tried that. I have a feeling mixing powder directly wouldn't result nicely. This isn't ordinary powder, it's the sort that turns into jelly when added water. But you can melt it by heating. So it's best in warm liqid foods / drinks which aren't completely watery, but a little denser, like yoghurt.
