Standardized or not? && massage oil questionApril 14 2009 at 4:06 PM | Alana (Login lani_hopes4DDs) SENIOR MEMBER |
| In my local grocery markets/natural food stores, they do carry fenugreek, in capsule form, BUT it is not standardized, anywhere I go. Is this really important?
As for the massage oil, I use a Vitamin E/coconut oil I found at a little store here. I wanted to start adding fenugreek to that, but can I just break open a couple capsules, or should I go out n get the liquid extract? If is does make a difference, why? |

I don't think the fenugreek I'm taking is standardized. I wouldn't worry about it- it's just crushed seed so I don't know how much "standardizing" it would need anyway. I buy mine at Kroger.
If you want to make a really good fenugreek massage lotion, soak some fenugreek seeds in olive oil for a week or so and it will be real nice and potent. I think in Wahaika's post called "Start Now- do what works!" he tells about that. Otherwise I guess you could use a liquid tincture and put it in a lotion, I have actually done that before. Use a heating pad with that for the best results. You can get fenugreek seeds in natural food stores or you could break open the capsules.
I don't know if you are really new to taking fenugreek, but be prepared to start smelling like maple syrup! You'll see what I mean!!!!
