Saw Palmetto & Weight Gain--good article

Ok....so I did some research on Saw Palmetto & weight gain/loss.

Some people lose weight from it, more people gain weight from it. I was confused about why it does different things to different people, and I think this article gave the most clear reason:

-Saw Palmetto improves digestion and absorption of nutrients in the body.-

Which makes sense. If we take SP & eat & drink good boobie foods, it helps our body absorb it better, which is why it's a good supplement fo NBE, but if you don't watch your diet & still eat more fatty stuff than your body needs, then SP will also make your body absorb those extra calories better.

The article suggests that since it helps your body absorb nutrients better, you may not need to eat as much as you used to before start taking SP. So if you maintain your original diet & still gain weight, that might be the explanation.

Oh and I found out that it also helps reduce water retention.

Hope this helps!!

Happy boobie day. :)

============================================
Here's part of the article:

"Saw palmetto works by inhibiting one of the active forms of testosterone that is in our body. This testosterone is responsible for stimulating cell reproduction. Saw palmetto inhibits this testosterone which then inhibits cell reproduction which inhibits enlargement of the prostate. Knowing that saw palmetto works on one form of testosterone in the body it has been used as a steroid substitute as well.

Athletes that use saw palmetto to help them bulk up. Again, the research is still out on how beneficial the herb really is for this purpose. We do know that with its impact on testosterone in the body that it has some influence over promoting muscle mass.

According to many herbalists though, saw palmetto does impact weight loss but the belief is more that the weight loss is caused by the improved digestion and absorption of nutrients in the body then anything else.

After all if your body is getting the nutrients that it needs from the food you are eating, you will not have to eat as much. Eating less will lead to fewer calories consumed, which we all know helps promote weight loss. So will saw palmetto help you lose weight? The answer is that it will more then likely give you the boost you need to take further health promoting actions, to achieve your weight loss goals.

You are welcome!!

I'm learned a lot from you all, and I'm happy that I can contribute too.

I just found some info about FG, and I'm posting it now, hopefully this will help you girls.

My conclusion? I don't think FG & SP directly cause weight gain. But they do things to your body that makes you want to eat more--NOT because your hungry necessarily. So I think if we understand how it works, we can feel free to take both!!

I do think it's very possible that SP also affects metabolism elsewhere in the body, because not only weight gain but also cellulite is a frequently reported side effect. From this fact it seems that SP may have a mechanism to affect fat cells.
