Newbie needs help!!!!!!!!May 9 2009 at 10:21 PM | reachmygoal (Login reachmygoal) |
| Hey everyone I am new to this forum I currently would like to gain some weight/boobie growth and noticed saw palmetto helps to gain but I am also on the pill so I bought saw palmetto tea. Do you guys thinks that will help with my weight/boobie without affecting the pill beacause the tea is less strong than the pill. I am also taking fenugreek, drinking a soy shake along with a weight gainer(not too often not a fan of the taste) exercising and massaging. Your help would be appreciated |

I recently read that saw palmetto is not effective when taken in tea form because its active components are not water soluble, and for it to be effective you need a higher concentration of it that can only be contained in pill or extract form. So Based on what i read I would suggest taken saw palmetto capsules or extract. Fenugreek, however can be taken in tea form. For weight gain I recommend protein shakes and weight lifting. Also be sure to eat plenty of healthy foods, including healthy fats. This will also aid your nbe. |

Hi Reachmygoal!
Welcome to the forum. I am on birth control, and I am taking Saw Palmetto. I do not think it interferes with the pill, as it is used to reduce the conversion of testosteron to DHT. Birthcontrol relies on the balance of female hormes (e.g. progesterone, estrogen). I havent had any problems with it and I am taking 900mg of Saw Palmetto/day.

I don't know how, I just read that it does on this forum and on other part of the internet. Possibly it's not even known, just an empyrical observation. There are much less studies made on plant compounds and theireffects and interactions in the human body, compared to say pharmaceutical agents, for obvious reasons, so much is still unknown and unproven. But the way hormones work is too complex to make the sort of conclusion you made, in my opinion. Better safe than sorry. |

Thanks Moon, yeah I agree that hormones are sooo complicated. Now I am wondering if I should be using SP? But then again, I havent had any problems and I have been using it along with BCP for quite a while now. I am not suggesting that Sp does not interefere with BCP. I am just in a situation where if I did end up pregnant, it would be ok. My program really seems to be working for me, so I dont want to change anything. |
