I'm confused can someone with more knowledge help me? I'm trying to devise an nbe program and heard about progesterone cream for estrogen dominance. Does this mean your estrogen dominant if before you get your period your boobs swell?? Cuz mine always do then get smaller after period. Do I still need progesterone cream?

Hi Aerie,

Estrogen dominance has a whole bunch of symptoms. Here is a list of symptoms I posted on the newcomers part of the main page.

http://www.network54.com/Forum/522223/thread/1215963710/last-1243911994/Estrogen+Dominance+and+Deficiency+symptom+list...

Just having breast swelling prior to your period is not a serious indication of hormonal imbalance. Most advice regarding estrogen dominance is that treatment with progesterone cream is not needed unless you have several of the symptoms listed.

Best wishes,

estrogen dominant?

July 16 2009, 4:27 PM

Hey waxingmoon,

thanks so much for your response. Im just going crazy here lol. Anyways, from reading the list (ive read it before) It seems to me i have mostly the symptoms which are both and it says that it means I have normal estrogen with lower progesterone. Now, does this mean I should go and take progesterone cream? or will something like wild yam or stinging nettle root help me grow? I mean does being estrogen dominant even stop your growth?

I got my period at 12 or 13. I def gain in thigh butt and lower abs and hips but am so skinny in the top half, and i read sailor venus did use PC for that problem. But Im wondering if I even need it? I got tested for Testosterone, DHEA, cortisol and thyroid function and the tests came out normal. I asked the doctor dont I need to test everything to see if there is more of something and not enough of something else? and she said not to worry because if there were something abnormal about these tests, then it would show the imbalance in other areas as well.?

sooo now im like, well I dont want to just waste money on fenugreek and all the other thing I bougt if they're not gonna work while I take them unless I balance it with progesterone.

but then I read that wild yam is something like progesterone, but I think you or someone else said that it cant really do the job like a real progesterone cream so wild yam is pretty much useless for NBE.

Im scared to take saw palmetto cuz last time I did NBE I got cellulite and when I read about saw palmetto alot of girls reported cellulite, so now tat I stopped and remedied the situation I dont want to have to go through all that again so I would probably opt for stinging nettle root or pumpkin seed oil.

BTW, Sailorvenus was taking fenugreek during the period, and after period was taking SP and progesterone until period came again. Is this the "method" for NBE?

SO Maca is highly estrogenic? I mean I read it is the "peruvian ginseng" and that it can balance hormones. I didnt order it yet but I was trying to remember back when I tried NBE all un knowledgeable about times and amounts etc etc. and I got a little bit of a change but I also felt "fat" all the time. maybe I didnt really do NBE right? or maybe regular herbs werent really helping me?

Hi Aerie,

You have a couple of choices in treating estrogen dominance. If you choose to use progesterone cream then get the book by Dr John Lee "what your doctor may not tell you about premenopause" because this is the best reference to safe progesterone use.

Some have used the herb vitex to treat low progesterone issues. It works by stimulating your body to produce more progesterone from the corpus luteum left over after you ovulate. It also lowers prolactin levels. You would need to use vitex for at least 4 - 6 months for it to help you. Most do not feel any changed to their symptoms until using it for at least 3 months.

As far as NBE, there are other things than herbs. Massage, suction, hypnosis ... etc. Check out all of these options if you haven't already.

Nothing about using progesterone cream or vitex will help you directly with NBE. What it will do is balance your hormones so that you can be healthy and when you are healthy you will respond better to NBE. Get your hormones balanced first and then do herbal NBE.

But, while you are balancing your hormones you can do all the other non-herbal methods.

You are correct about wild yam - rather useless for balancing hormones. They use it to make progesterone cream in the lab, but our bodies cannot use it for this.

If you have the fenugreek and want to try it - try it. You don't need to use saw palmetto unless you have too much testosterone - and your test says you don't.

By the way - your doctor is misleading you. You could very well have hormone problems that don't show up on those limited tests. You could have too much or too little estrogen and the other tests would be just fine. Lazy doctor syndrome would be my guess.

Best wishes,
waxingmoon
