It Might Be You

The hottest young love team of the year returns with the biggest teleserye of the season as ABS-CBN presents John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo in It Might Be You, which debuted last Monday, November 8, right after Sana'y Wala Nang Wakas.

It Might Be You brings a fresh, youthful and light touch to the teleserye genre in this refreshing love story centering on Earl Lawrence Trinidad (John Lloyd Cruz) and Cielo San Carlos (Bea Alonzo), two teens in the small town of Montegracia.

John Lloyd and Bea are also joined by an acclaimed cast who will bring the vision of this teleserye to life.

John Lloyd plays the only child of the Trinidads, the ruling family in the small town of Montegracia. "I'm so glad to be in another ABS-CBN teleserye, especially in a project that's so different from my previous ones, which have required me to be so dramatic week in and week out," said the young actor. "I just wish that the fans would support It Might Be You the way they supported Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay."

Bea Alonzo plays Cielo San Carlos, the feisty adopted daughter of the San Carlos family, who operates the town's local movie theatre.

"It's such a good feeling to be back in a teleserye, because it's like forming another new family - one that contains John Lloyd and Miss Jean (Garcia) from my old family at Kay Tagal," Bea says.

Another top teen idol, John Pratts, has been tapped to play the role of Gian Carlo Pablo, Lawrence's adopted brother. "This is actually my first teleserye," John notes. "After 12 years in show business, I've finally gotten the chance to be in a teleserye, and I'm really excited, because this is a really different project."

Jean Garcia essays a completely different role as Orlanda Mae Lacuesta, the "town-idiot" who holds the secret of the town of Montegracia.

"There are two things I'm thankful for regarding It Might Be You," says Jean. "First is that I have another teleserye with the ABS-CBN family. Secondly, I have a new role that keeps me from being typecast, because Ola is such a different role for me, and that makes it an exciting challenge."

Tirso Cruz III and Maritoni Fernandez take on the roles of the all-powerful Mayor Ernesto Lord Trinidad and his wife, Dr. Frida Montegracia-Trinidad, who both head the most respected family in the town of Montegracia. "I'm looking forward to working with this group, having heard a lot of really great things about ABS-CBN's teleserye team in the past," says Tirso, who is doing his first teleserye for the network. This also marks Maritoni's return to the teleserye genre since gracing another ABS-CBN teleserye, Darating Ang Umaga.

Two more acclaimed actors make their teleserye debut with It Might Be You, as children's TV veteran Bodjie Pascua (best-known for his roles on Batibot and Epol/Apple) and controversial former sexy star Sarsi Emmanuelle take on the roles of Eseng and Lupe San Carlos, Cielo's parents.

"I've been out of show business for more than 10 years," notes Sarsi. "Mostly, my fears are only drawn from whether I can give the kind of performance people expect from the ABS-CBN teleseryes. I really hope I can - this project deserves it."

"I don't really know what to expect, this being my first teleserye," says Bodjie. "It's a little daunting, but then I realize I'm surrounded by many people who are veterans of this genre. All I hope for is that people can accept this new side of me, now that I'm not in a children's program anymore."

After his role in the smash hit teleserye Bituin, Gardo Versoza assumes his newest teleserye part as Camilo San Carlos, Eseng's younger brother and Cielo's mysterious uncle. "It's an exciting project for me because It Might Be You is trying to present something different for the viewer. It's not all drama, drama, drama, but it has humor in it, too... just like life," says Gardo.

Baron Geisler also marks a return to the teleserye fold as Derek Castro, Cielo's friend. "It's my only other teleserye project after Recuerdo de Amor, and I'm glad that this character is not an average teenybopper like Fonzy from Tabing Ilog. It's another interesting character for me to play, he has responsibilities, a job, a different aura."

It Might Be You also introduces a new young star, Maja Salvador, in the role of Cara.

It Might Be You is directed by Gilbert Perez and Don Cuaresma.

Ricky Lee serves as the series' Creative Manager and Headwriter. Olivia M. Lamasan is It Might Be You's Creative Director, with Malou N. Santos as the Executive In-Charge of Production and Annaliza A. Goma serving as Supervising Producer. Grace Ann Casimsiman is the Executive Producer.

IT MIGHT BE YOU

ERIK SANTOS-version

Time... I've been passing time watching trains go by
All of my life...
Lying on the sand, watching seabirds fly
Wishing there would be
Someone waiting home for me...

Something's telling me it might be you
It's telling me it might be you...
All of my life...

Looking back as lovers go walking past...
All of my life
Wondering how they met and what makes it last

If I found the place
Would I recognize the face?
Something's telling me it might be you
Yeah, it's telling me it might be you

So many quiet walks to take
So many dreams to wake
And we've so much love to make

I think we're gonna need some time
Maybe all we need is time...
And it's telling me it might be you
All of my life...

I've been saving love songs and lullabies
And there's so much more
No one's ever heard before...

Something's telling me it might be you
Yeah, it's telling me it must be you
And I'm feeling it'll just be you
All of my life...
It's you..
It's you...
I've been waiting for all of my life...

Maybe it's you...
Maybe it's you...
I've been waiting for all of my life...

Maybe it's you...
Maybe it's you...
I've been waiting for all of my life...

Repeat to fade...

About this boy... Axel Rivero

by brown monkey

About this boy... Axel Rivero

Twenty-year-old actor Marco Alcaraz said that he once questioned God for what was happening to his life.

It all happened after he sustained an ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament). He was then a varsity player for the San Sebastian Stags and he had high hopes of joining the Philippine Basketball Association after college.

"I came all the way from Cebu. My parents knew how much I wanted to be a professional basketball player someday.. That?s why they supported my decision to study in Manila. But then ACL happened. I asked God why, because I worked hard to be in the team. I was devastated. I cried for months!" His injury put him in therapy for almost six months. Without a clue as to what will become of his childhood dream, he was convinced to dabble in modeling. At 6?1, with good looks and a ball player?s physique, he was a shoo-in as a ramp model. It was then through his modeling that he met his manager Arnold Vigafria of ALV Productions. He was asked if he wanted to audition for a role in one of ABS-CBN?s new soap opera last year. For reasons he couldn?t fathom, he risked personal embarrassment to try acting. Acting, he recalled, was something he laughed at when he was in high school. Already a ball player he would find it amusing to see his friends act in school plays.

"I was so depressed then that I decided to audition and probably do acting for while I was recovering. But I wasn?t expecting a role that big. I got in and everything followed. I suddenly was enjoying acting. I was very happy?the irony was that I didn?t like acting before in school and now I?m the one pursuing an acting career," Marco stated. His audition was a success and last year the name Marco Alcaraz became a byword on prime time television in ABS-CBN?s "It Might Be You." He was the third angle in the love triangle in the movie with John Lloyd and Bea Alonzo.

Televiewers avidly watched to see who would get the girl in the end. For Marco, "It Might Be You" was a big break for him in showbiz. He never had any experience in acting nor did he know anything about dealing with other actors then. He didn?t even know how popular the tandem of John Lloyd and Bea Alonzo was. In an instant, Marco, the actor, was also becoming a hit like his soap opera.

"For me, the Lord works in mysterious ways. Sometimes things happen that you don?t understand. But you realize everything has a purpose," Marco shared.

He added that at the moment he has benched his dream to be a professional basketball player. But he still plays the game given the time. In fact, he is scheduled to leave for Bahrain in a month?s time for an exhibition game with past PBA superstars.

As he made a name in "It Might Be You," he was luckily cast in BAS Films? "Ae****e Imasu 1941: Mahal Kita," an official entry to last year?s Metro Manila Film Festival. He made a mark as the loyal assistant to the Japanese captain who fell in love and impregnated a Filipina. Since then he has done guest appearances in various shows and has hosted events.

"Hanggang ngayon dumarating ang mga blessings. This is why I realized that probably I wasn?t really meant to play ball. I mean I even injured my arm when I was in Cebu a few years back. Maybe He is just leading me into another way, the right way?blessing in disguise yung ACL. Because of it I was included in the love-triangle with John and Bea," he shared. The good projects that kept pouring into his lap have brought Marco to a seeming ethereal level of happiness. Who wouldn?t? After seeing his childhood dream crumble right in front of him, a bigger door of opportunity opened for him.

The limelight, the popularity that goes with being a pro in basketball would have happened in many years and the probability of it materializing could have been slim. But he got those in a matter of months with his break in "It Might Be You." He also meant so much for him that he could provide some financial assistance to his family even though they don?t need it. For him, it was his simple way of saying thank you for their wholehearted support in all his endeavors. (Marco is currently in the one month special episode of "Wansapanataym" entitled "D Supers" wherein he plays a super hero with the power of super speed.)

"As of now, I haven?t set any goals in showbiz. I just make it a point that whatever role is given to me, I would do my best to make it come out as effective as possible. I really would do my best to give justice to my roles!" Marco?s latest challenge as an actor is in Ben "M7" Yalung?s "Birhen ng Manaoag" which is slated for a Holy Week release. In the movie that retells the story of the "Birhen ng Manaoag" on film, he plays a seminarian and a researcher and expert on the story of the miraculous Birhen ng Manaoag. According to the director, he immediately cast Marco because of his good aura which the filmmaker took as a good sign. On the other hand, the screenplay writer Chris Vallez explained that the expressive eyes of the actor caught his attention. He said that Marco had a sad look in his eyes. The reason for such emotional requirement was because of the plight of Marco?s character. In the film, as a seminarian, he suddenly lost faith in God when his mother, played by Alicia Alonzo, died. He couldn?t believe it when this tragic event transpired because he has devoted all his life to serving God. For Marco the biggest challenge for him in the film was his reaction when his screen mother died.

"If you saw the trailer, you?d know that it was hard for me to break the statues of saints. I?m a Catholic and it felt wrong to be throwing those statues on the floor and breaking them. There was really hesitation on my part but then it was a job I had to do."

He added that at his present stage as an actor, his vulnerability is also one of his challenges. "I often run out of motivation to deliver the needed emotion. I have a happy life but I just know that a happy life is not an excuse not to be able to cry when needed. I really need motivation on that part and I worked hard to be more effective in my characterizations."

Staying for five days in Manaoag, Pangasinan, Marco was fortunate to be close to the statue of the Birhen ng Manaoag as compared to devotees who adore the Blessed Virgin from a distance. "I was so close that when I pray to her, I can just feel her presence. Just looking at her eyes felt like she was talking to me. My faith really became stronger after doing this film?it was just unfortunate that I wasn?t able to see the miraculous petals," he intimated.

Joining him in "Birhen ng Manaoag" is Joyce Jimenez, Eddie Garcia, Albert Martinez, Jodi Santamaria, Cherry Pie Picache, Bianca King, Jean Garcia, Ina Feleo, Ella Guevarra, Paolo Paraiso and Matthew Hunt as Jesus Christ.

As of now, Marco has realized that showbiz is not all about glamor and fame. It is also about passion in being an actor.

"I?m already a year old in the business and I thought before that showbiz was an easy thing to do. Then I found out that you have to internalize your roles and you have to read the scripts. You go through sleepless nights; acting is really a very tough job. The competition is stiff and you have to do your best in everything. Whenever an opportunity comes along you just have to grab it and make the most out of it!"

Marco Alcaraz has transformed his passion in basketball to acting and he has been making all his shots! He is one versatile actor ON THE RISE!

Spirits

by gergoz

Spirits (HorrorSerye)

Spirits

[Story]
Conceived by Ro?o as a prequel to his successful Spirit Warriors
films, Spirits tackles the stories of young people moving from being
children to being teenagers, with the added weight of their
special "powers" making them even more different. "It's perfect
because it's the growing years - adolescence is a time of hormonal
warfare! So it's a fitting metaphor that they're studying what they
can do, what their powers are, at the same time they're dealing with
emotions that come with growing up."

Ro?o has assembled a polished ensemble of up-and-coming actors,
which he handpicked, along with the show's producers, after a
grueling series of auditions. They are the talents that bring to
life Spirits' storyline, which concentrates on a group of small-town
teens who make up their high school's Camera Club. They seem normal,
act normal, and are normal, except for one small detail – they are all psychics. And the Camera Club is just a front for what they really wish to accomplish – learning more about their psychic powers, and figuring out how to use their powers to help the people in their town.
Apart from breaking barriers with the first-ever teleserye that combines teen adventure with themes of the supernatural, ABS-CBN has also concentrated its efforts into making Spirits the equal of its
director's acclaimed cinematic offerings. ABS-CBN has signed on Feng Shui cinematographer Neil Daza to be Spirits's director of photography, with Feng Shui's musical director Carmina Cuya also providing the music for Spirits. ABS-CBN has also signed on platinum-selling band Rivermaya to create the show's opening theme.
Spirits' accomplished production staff is headed by production
manager Ginny M. Ocampo and executive producer Sheila Ocampo.
Richard Reynante is Spirits' creative manager, with Shugo Praico as
head writer. ABS-CBN VP for Creative Olive Lamasan and ABS-CBN
Senior VP for Drama Malou N. Santos complete Spirits' lead
production team.

[Lyrics]
You'll Be Safe Here
Rivermaya
(Words and Music: Rico Blanco)
http://www.rivermaya.net

Nobody knows
Just why we're here
Could it be fate
Or random circumstance
At the right place
At the right time
Two roads intertwine

And if the universe conspired
To meld our lives
To make us
Fuel and fire
Then know
Where ever you will be
So too shall I be

Chorus:

Close your eyes
Dry your tears
'Coz when nothing seems clear
You'll be safe here

From the sheer weight
Of your doubts and fears
Weary heart
You'll be safe here

Remember how we laughed
Until we cried
At the most stupid things
Like we were so high
But love was all that we were on
We belong

And though the world would
Never understand
This unlikely union
And why it still stands
Someday we will be set free.
Pray and believe

Chorus:

When the light disappears
And when this world's insincere
You'll be safe here
When nobody hears you scream
I'll scream with you
You'll be safe here

Save your eyes
From your tears
When everything's unclear
You'll be safe here

From the sheer weight
Of your doubts and fears
Wounded heart

When the light disappears
And when this world's insincere
You'll be safe here

When nobody hears you scream
I'll scream with you
You'll be safe here

In my arms
Through the long cold night
Sleep tight
You'll be safe here

When no one understands
I'll believe
You'll be safe,
You'll be safe
You'll be safe here
Put your heart in my hands
You'll be safe here

Krystala

by gergoz

Synopsis
The series followed a young woman named Tala, who accidentally unearths a crystal that contained the spirit of the legendary diwata sorceress, Luwalhati, who was imprisoned a hundred years earlier by a devilish being, Harimon. As a promise to Luwalhati, Tala agrees to help her rid the world of evil spirits that, once in the possession or contact of human beings, can bring or unleash corruption and mayhem onto the world.

Knowing that kind of fury would lead to Manila, where most of them would blend into the city's large population, Tala decides to leave her Madulom tribe to move into the area, where she would blend into the mix as a normal working girl, working at a shopping mall.

She would learn, however, that most of the spirits also have ties to Harimon, who was also set free by a young girl named Zorah. (Tala would later learn that she was her mother, who had abandoned her as a child after she became possessed by Harimon.) Upon learning that Harimon and his band of co-horts (The fierce Super Z, female vampire Kabagona, flamboyant drag queen Terracota and shapeshifter Luminax) have resurfaced to unleash and finish the sinister plans to unveil a more evil being bent on taking over the human world, Tala uses her crystal to transform herself into the superheroine Krystala and uses her powers to protect those who are helpless... and to protect the people who are her close friends.

Marinara

by gergoz

Marinara:

"Marinara" is about the triplets born out of the love of a mermaid and a man. To save them from danger, the triplets were separated after birth. If the predictions of the wisemen of the kingdom of Laot-Daot will come true, one of the triplets will come back to be their queen! The triplets are Marie, a conservative yet very studious person. Aira is a spoiled brat whose passion is in acting. Her dream is to win an Oscar someday. And Dolphina is a mermaid who will unfortunately be caught accidentally by fishermen. She will become the main attraction of a local carnival.

Helming "Marinara" into an enticing "kwelanovela" becomes Erics challenge then. Given Rufa Maes comic skills and a cast of dramatic actors, his goal is to harness them all, mix them and define "kwelanovela" as something beyond a sitcom.

"Basically the challenge is how to make it look different because it is a different kind of soap. In fact they told me I have to treat it like a soap. So ang treatment niya as a soap kaya lang comedy siya talaga."

A drama and light romantic-comedy director, "Marinaras" genre is a genre he looks forward to doing, creatively speaking.

"You can experiment kung tama or mag- iba yung shots mo and as this point Im still thinking kung papaano ko iaanggulo para mas maging nakakatuwa ang scenes!"

As a director he admits to having just one dilemma.

"Comedy usually requires a build up before the punch. But I have so much materials and ang kailangang ko lang for 17 mins. Hindi ko alam kung paano ko babawasan kasi sayang."

Another challenge was for the stars to practice holding back their laughters since most of the scenes though serious had pinches of punchlines or funny one-liners!

"It is definitely more on comedy. The thrust is really kwelanovela but I call it a realistic comedy too. In life when theres drama, theres always comedy and vice versa. It is really challenging to the actors to do something like that. Most of the time, when I yell cut, they all laugh! It is really hard to mount something like this."

Surprised by the attack, Adran, Queen of the Adranika, realizes that Braguda is eager to possess the Adranika's powers. To avoid taking their power, Adran gave the white stone to Aio who is tasked to give it to whoever is worthy to inherit it. Aio escapes to Earth before Braguda destroys the planet Marte. Braguda follows Aio and when Aio reaches the earth's atmosphere, Braguda disables her spaceship and it crashes while the white stone fall out of the ship where the young Narda discovers it. Aio survives the crash and meets Narda to tell her to keep the stone until the right time comes to receive "the call". After eight years, Aio secretly disguises as an old beggar calls Narda through a telepathic message. The message tells that Narda is the sole inheritor of the power of the Adranika and she will protect the earth from evil. After Narda heard the message, the word "Darna" appears in the white stone and it instructed to swallow it and yell the word "Darna". Narda follows the instruction and became the superheroine Darna. Darna returns to her mortal state when she utters the word Narda and then the white stone comes out from her mouth.

After Braguda discovers that Darna possesses the white stone, she and her minons try to steal the white stone from Darna. Braguda's intention is combine the power of the magic white stone with her magic black stone so that she can transform the Planet Earth into another "Planet Marte" and mutate all Earthlings into Anomalkans so that they can survive in the new environment and serve Braguda in her quest of Galactic domination. Those servants of Braguda who are sent to fight Darna and cause havoc in Metro Manila include Mambabarang, Dr. Zombie, Sulfura, Nosforamus (resurrected father of Narda) and Valentina the half-sister of Narda whom she once thought was her cousin. Darna is able to defend the city against her enemies and she still possesses the white stone.
[edit]

Origin of Narda

Once thought of as the daughter of Mulong and Ising, Narda is really the biological daughter of Mulong's Half-Sister, Prospera and her true love- Rafael. When Prospera was pregnant with Narda she discovered a space craft that had crashed on her land one fateful evening. As she approached the craft, a dying alien being (An Anomalkan) emerged and transported its DNA into the already pregnant Prospera.

The Alien fled to earth in the hope of escaping the massacare of infants that Braguda had ordered on the Planet Marte. Braguda's rampage was in response to a prophecy that predicted her death one day at the hands of a fellow Anomalkan. To try to avoid her fate, Braguda ordered the killing of all Anomalkan infants that could oppose her one day. But one anomalkan managed to escape the planet Marte and in doing so crash landed to Earth

To help bring about the fulfilment of the prophecy, the fugitive anomalkan impreganted the earth female- Prospera in the hopes that the blending of their species would create a new breed of Anomalkan strong and reilient enough to survive in Earth's environment.

After being impregnated, Prospera now carried 2 babies, one completely human (a product of her relationship with Rafael) and the other- a monstrous Anomalkan humanoid.

When Prospera gave birth, she discovered her human child to be perfectly normal and horrified at her alien one. Prospera carried her alien child to the spaceship in the hopes of killing it there but when the child suddenly shapeshifted to resemble a normal child, Prospera took it back home.

When she returned, her normal baby had disappeared. (who unknown to her was stolen by Mulong when his wife's own baby died in birth). Prospera who planned to name her human child "Valentina" now gave this name to her alien baby.

Mulong named the baby he stole "Narda" after the true Baby Narda who had died and had been replaced. Narda discovered her true origins after her defeat of Braguda and the Anomalkans.

[Lyrics]:
KAILAN KAYA
(sung by Sheryn Regis)

Ahhhh...
Lagi na lang nag-iisa
Lagi na lang nalulumbay
Umaasang sana may magmahal
Hanggang kailan kaya akong maghihintay

Kailan kaya puso ay iibig
Kailan kaya matitikman ng isang halik
Kailan kaya madarama ang isang paglalambing
Nais malaman, Nais maramdaman
Kailan kaya
Ahhhh...

Nais malaman, Nais maramdaman
Kailan kaya

Kailan kaya puso ay iibig
Kailan kaya matitikman ng isang halik
Kailan kaya madarama ang isang paglalambing
Nais malaman, Nais maramdaman
Kailan kaya
Ahhhh...

Episode guide[~ Week One ~]

by

The town is celebrating their fiesta on the beach! Everyone is cheering for Victoria for she is the reason they get a lot of fish. Azon goes into labor and Victoria helps her give birth, and everyone cheers, yet again, for her. Later that night, Elias is looking off into the ocean, and Victoria thinks that he’s thinking about their soon-to-be wedding. He actually was thinking of the better life he’s long been hoping for. She hugs him and says that she will live whatever life, just as long as it’s with him.
~ Manding and Gaspar tell Elias that they haven’t been getting a lot of fish for the past couple of days, so they ask if he can get Victoria to summon her power to get more fish. She’s walking by and knows that they need her help. Later, everyone gets a lot of big fish, and they give her the biggest one to show gratitude.
~ Gaspar runs to Elias and Manding, and tells them that the resort has been bought by a new owner. They go to the gates of the big house, trying to see who bought it. They see these people coming down the stairs and notice how beautiful Esther is. Elias and Esther look at each other and there is instant chemistry.
~ Elias and Manding go to the resort to drop off a big fish as a welcoming gift. Pilar is excited to see such a big fish since Esther loves eating fish, so she brings them inside to put it in the kitchen. Esther comes down the stairs and they look into their eyes longingly. Later, they have a picnic on the beach. When Elias feeds Esther watermelon, she’s embarrassed that he treats her like a little kid, but it’s his way of treating a queen. He also admits that the first time he saw her, he knew that she was the kind of woman that he’s always wanted to marry. Esther laughs as she can’t believe that men in the province are much faster than the men in Manila. He believes that if you love someone, you don’t want to waste a single minute with them.
~ A couple days after, Elias waves to Esther, who’s on the balcony. Pilar makes a comment that they will be eating fish all the time. Pilar, then, is shocked that Esther is calling him by his first name, and that it seems it’s not just the fish that he’s caught, but her as well. Esther says that there’s nothing wrong since they’re both single. Pilar hopes that she’s not interested in him just because she’s looking for a father figure, but she disagrees and says that he’s the only guy that has treated her this way. So Pilar cautions her to be careful with her heart. Now, they always hang around each other all day by the beach. One time, during sunset, he tells her that he loves her and they kiss.
~ Victoria goes to the edge of a cliff and calls for Dugong. She comes out of the water in a snake-like form. Victoria asks her if she's seen Elias. She says yes, but with someone else. Victoria doesn’t believe it, but Dugong warns her not to cry when she finds out the truth. Later that night, Elias goes to Victoria’s home (they were living together), and he packs up his stuff. Victoria is confused and pleads with him not to leave because she will die without him. He explains that it wasn’t a secret that this isn’t the life he wanted, so when the time comes, he would leave her. In a desperate attempt, she says that she will go with him just as long as they’re together. But he just tells her to leave him since his future doesn’t include her and walks out, leaving her heart broken.
~ Victoria goes to Dugong the next day. She's not surprised about what has happened as she warned her before that Elias is a cheater. Victoria asks her what she can do to get him back, especially since she made him fall in love with her before. Dugong says that there is nothing she can do as he loves the other person more.
~ Esther and Elias have a wedding by the sea at sunset. After they kiss, Victoria shows up in a black dress. She goes to Esther and touches her 2-month tummy. Esther sees the curse that Victoria puts on her: the baby will be born deformed. Victoria walks away, and a big tidal wave crashes the wedding. Later that night, Esther and Elias are fighting. He admits that they were together, but once he was with Esther, he broke things off with Victoria. She doesn’t believe it, but he reassures her he loves her and only her. Meanwhile, on the cliff, on her knees, crying, Victoria screams to the dark night that they both will regret the day that they fell in love as their kid will pay for all the hurt that they have caused her, and she causes a storm!
~ 6 months later, Pilar and Esther go to Victoria’s house. Victoria sees that Esther has one more month until she gives birth. Esther pleads to get rid of the curse as the baby had nothing to do with Victoria’s relationship with Elias. Victoria laughs since it’s like what they’re fighting about is just candy. Esther says that she feels sorry for her, and that she didn’t know about them before. So Victoria gives her 3 choices: 1) to kneel before her and eat the land she walks on, 2) to give her the baby, or 3) to give her Elias. Esther thinks that she is crazy, but she tells her that she can do more crazy things when it comes to Elias. She then tells her to leave before she turns her into a turtle. So Esther takes the glass of water, throws it into Victoria’s face, and rushes out of the house.
~ Manding and Elias are fighting on the beach because the town is blaming him for the loss of fish for a month. Elias is angered as it is not he who has the power to call the fish. Manding explains that they never had a bad problem with fish when he and Victoria were together. But Elias can’t go to her since she is really mad at him. Manding tells him that he should’ve married her instead of Esther. Elias, now furious, tells him that he doesn’t care if they starve or don’t make money, because he loves Esther and no one can tell him what to do.
~ At the resort, Pilar, regrettably, tells Esther that maybe she should give Victoria what she wants. Elias goes up the stairs and overhears their conversation. Crying, Esther says that she’s not going to let this happen, that she’s not going to let Victoria get anything from her. Pilar worries about the curse, but Esther doesn’t want to be tied to it. She believes that Victoria is a human just like everyone else, and it is God who we follow. She trusts that He won’t neglect them.
~ Upon hearing this, Elias goes back to Victoria, and she promises to get rid of the curse. Later that night, Esther throws rocks at Victoria’s house and is screaming for him to get out. He opens the door, and she sees that they both have made love. He wants to explain, but she doesn’t want to hear it and breaks down. So now, Esther is by herself, Victoria is happy with Elias, and the town is happy that they’re getting all this fish again.
~ Esther is in labor. Elias goes to the hospital, and Pilar tells him that she has given birth to a normal, baby girl named Cristina. He’s happy. Later, Victoria asks if he wants to see them, but, to avoid a fight, he says that he’s already with her, so it doesn’t matter. Victoria reveals that she’s going to have a baby also. As years past, Esther is happy taking care of Cristina by herself, Victoria has given birth to her own daughter named Luna, and Elias is still not happy. One day, Elias visits Esther and sees his daughter, but she is angered by his face and goes inside the house.
~ It’s Cristina’s (played by Jane Oineza) 7th birthday, and she has a big party. All of a sudden, while opening her presents, Cristina feels sick. The doorbell rings, and Esther opens it up. It’s Elias, who has come to greet his daughter and give her his present. She orders Pilar to bring Cristina upstairs. Furiously, she tells him that he can give it to his other child and that they‘re happy, just the two of them. In Cristina’s bedroom, Pilar is freaking out since Cristina keeps crying. She says that her feet are hot, and so Pilar is trying to dampen her with a washcloth, but it’s not working. And then Cristina says that she can’t breathe. Just then, Cristina’s feet turn into a mermaid’s tail. Pilar screams and Esther and Elias go upstairs. They’re shocked at what has happened to their daughter. Elias runs out knowing who did this. He goes to Victoria’s home, and, in a violent rage, he’s chasing her on the beach. Luna (played by Kristel Fulgar) is telling them to stop. He takes a paddle and hits Victoria’s back. She falls to the ground, and before he can take another swing, she calls for Dugong. She comes out of the water and takes Elias away...
Episode 2: February 24, 2004
~ Esther tells Pilar to get water. She doesn’t understand how this could’ve happened. When Elias is gone, Luna goes to her mom and calls for help. All the citizens go to help her, and Victoria can’t feel her legs.
~ The next day, Lorelei is skipping on the beach and comes across an unconscious Elias. He doesn’t wake up when she shakes him, so she thinks that she is dead. She calls for help, but he gets up. When she turns around, she sees Elias and asks if he saw the dead body on the beach. He looks at her funny and says “pag-ibig." She thinks that he is professing his love for her.
~ Pilar brings breakfast to Esther, who has spent all night in the swimming pool with Cristina, who's happily swimming around. Esther wonders if this could be the curse, but they thought that it was gone when Elias went back to Victoria. She tells Pilar to close the resort so that no one will know about this, and that she’s not going to let her daughter be a mermaid.
~ Victoria is in her bed surrounded by Manding, Azon, and Gaspar. They ask her if she wants to go to the hospital. She says that she is ok, but they are worried that if she were to die, what would happen to them. She assures them that nothing will happen to her, and when the day comes that she will pass away, Luna will take her place. Luna overhears this.
~ Elias is looking out into the ocean. Gaspar, Azon, and Manding see him and ask him if he knows what happened to Victoria. He looks at them in a daze. Lorelei goes to them and tells Elias (who she now calls “pag-ibig”) not to talk to them because they’re gossipers. She brings him along with her, and they look at each other wondering what has happened to Elias.
~ Victoria wants water and screams for Luna, but she is nowhere to be found. She is mad that her daughter has left her alone, and Esther walks in. Victoria remembers that it has been 7 years since she has put the curse. Esther doesn’t understand why she didn’t fulfill her promise since Elias is with her. Victoria explains that just having his body, not his mind and heart, is not enough, and it’s because of her and her child. She pleads to not blame the child, but to blame Elias. Victoria reassures that she has done something to Elias also. Victoria tells her to leave and to never come back. Esther leaves distraught.
~ Esther goes to the swimming pool to bring breakfast to Cristina, but she’s nowhere to be found. Virgilio, Pilar, and Esther worriedly look for her everywhere. They finally find her swimming happily in the ocean. Esther tells her not to ever swim in the ocean because the people in the town hate mermaids. So Cristina asks if she’s going to be a mermaid all her life, but Esther says that she will do everything to make her normal again.
~ Lorelei goes home and notices Elias sitting there, so she thinks she went to the wrong house. But she notices that it is her house and thinks that Elias is a burglar. Elias tells her that she was the one who brought her here, and she remembers. She asks him what’s his name, and he says “tunay ng pag-ibig”, so she laughs and warns him not to get caught up in her beauty since they just met.
~ Virgilio brings an albularyo to the swimming pool, but once he sees Cristina, he’s scared of her and runs away. Esther is upset and doesn’t know what to do now.
~ Manding, Azon, and Gaspar go to Victoria and explains that it’s been a week since they haven’t had a lot of fish, so he asks if she can call on her powers again. But she says that she can’t because there are other things that are more powerful than her powers. She continues that there is bad luck here because of a mermaid that Esther is taking care of, so if they get rid of the mermaid, the fish will come back. They’re all shocked at what she just told them. When they go back to the beach, they see that all the fish they got are little and not enough.
~ Later that night, Gaspar and Manding come across the albularyo, who’s telling these men about what he saw at Esther’s house. They don’t believe him, but when Gaspar and Manding tell them about what Victoria said, they decide to go to the resort to get rid of the mermaid.
~ Virgilio opens the door to find the group of men, with their sharp, bamboo sticks, screaming to see the mermaid. He denies what they’re saying, but they don’t believe him. Pilar goes down the stairs and sees what’s happening. She runs to the swimming pool where Esther is telling a bedtime story to Cristina. She tells her what’s happening outside and that they’re planning on killing Cristina. Esther wonders what they’re going to do. Pilar tells her that the only way Cristina can be safe is by putting her in the ocean, but Esther doesn‘t want to. Meanwhile, outside, the group of men push Virgilio out of the way and go to the swimming pool, but no one is there. Quickly, Pilar and Esther carry Cristina to the ocean. Tearfully, Esther give Cristina her necklace and tells her to not to lose it. She tells her to always remember her mom’s face and that her mom loves her so much. Cristina is scared, but Esther explains that she is more safe in the ocean. Since Cristina is crying and doesn’t want to leave, Esther turns mean, threatens to beat Cristina, and screams at her to leave because the truth is that she is bad luck in her life. So Cristina crawls away into the water, as Esther looks on knowing that this is the last time she will see her daughter...
Episode 3: February 25, 2004
~ Esther holds Pilar’s hand tightly and says that she can’t do this. The men finally find Esther and ask her where is the mermaid. She tells them that it is gone.
~ Elias wakes up knowing something is wrong. He calls out “anak,“ and Lorelei thinks that he is her father. He pulls her with him, telling her that he wants to go to the beach. She thinks that he has to go to the bathroom, so she tells him that he can just go to the bathroom at the house. But he keeps persisting to go and she gets really mad. Lorelei says sorry and thinks that there is something wrong with him. She explains that he forgets things, then all of a sudden, he remembers, but then he forgets again. She says there’s medicine for it, but she forgot it.
~ Sad, Esther is looking out into the ocean. Pilar tells her to get some rest since she hasn’t slept all day. Esther asks if she is a bad mother, but Pilar assures her that she’s not, what she did was right, and that any mother would do the same thing. Feeling lonely, Cristina is by these rocks holding her necklace and calling out for her mother.
~ The townspeople are happy because all the fish are back. Gaspar, Manding, and Azon laugh because they see Lorelei and Elias are playing with each other. Gaspar says that the reason why Elias has lost his mind is because of love.
~ A group of kids show Luna where her father is. When Elias comes out, she hugs him and cries. Lorelei sees them hugging and asks Luna who is she and how does she know Elias. Luna explains that he is her father. Lorelei laughs because this whole time he never told her that he had a kid, even though he kept saying “pag-ibig” to her. She explains that she saw Elias and brought him to her house because it seemed like they were siblings. Lorelei goes away to get Luna a drink, and Elias, not remembering who Luna is, asks her if she wants to go play at the beach and look for “pag-ibig”. Luna cries and asks what happened to him. She knows that it was her mom who did this to him. Lorelei comes back and doesn’t remember Luna, and they go over what they did before. This makes Luna laugh.
~ The townspeople made a wheelchair contraption and crutches for Victoria so that she can go out and feel the fresh air. She is so thankful, but feels so bad that they worked so hard for this. Manding says it’s ok since they are thankful for all the help that she has given them. Luna comes back and thanks them because now she won‘t have to work so hard. Once they all leave, Victoria asks Luna fiercely where she was. Luna tells her that she saw Elias, but he now acts like a little kid, and she knows that she used her powers to do that. Victoria admits it and is glad that this has happened to him. She forbids her from every seeing him, and she threatens to hurt her if she ever hears that she went to go see him.
~ Cristina overhears someone crying. She looks around the rocks (trying to hid herself in the water) and sees Luna crying. Cristina asks why she is crying, but Luna can’t see her, so she starts walking closer. Cristina gets worried that she might see her tail, and tells Luna that the water is cold, so Luna tells her to get out of the water. They introduce each other. Luna is surprised that someone feels bad for her because her mother doesn’t - she is mean and always mad. So Cristina tells her to go to her dad, but she says that her mom threw out her dad. Cristina is happy that they have a similarity.
~ Lorelei and Elias are picking up trash at the beach. Elias sees Esther looking out to the sea, and he goes to her. He asks her if she knows the answer to “tunay ng pag-ibig” in the ocean, but Esther is shocked. Lorelei goes to Elias and says sorry to Esther if Elias, her brother, was bothering him. They go away, and Esther is saddened to find out what has become of Elias.
~ Luna asks many questions to Cristina, but she doesn’t want to answer. Luna asks how can they be friends if she doesn’t want to talk. They both say yes when they ask each other if they want to be friends. But Cristina admits she’s scared because once Luna gets to know her, she might not want to be her friend anymore. Luna doesn’t think Cristina looks mean and is actually really nice. Luna decides that if she doesn’t want to talk, they’ll just play. Cristina gets happy, but when Luna wants to play on land, Cristina doesn’t want to. So Luna decides that they’ll just swim. But before Cristina can warn her, Luna goes underwater and sees her tail. She is happy that she has a friend who is a mermaid. They play in the water all day. Later, Luna asks when they can play again. Cristina says it’s up to her because she will always be here. Luna promises to Cristina that she won’t tell anyone about her, and they say goodbye to each other.
~ Later that day, there is a boat that has stopped to fish. A young boy (played by Fraz Yap) on the boat puts his hand in the water. He sees Cristina, and decides to go in the water. They play together, but, not before long, the other people on the boat grab him and they speed off.
~ Luna brings Victoria to the cliff. Once she leaves, Victoria calls for Dugong and asks if there is any new news. She says that there’s nothing new and that she's bored in the water. Victoria explains it’s because they haven’t talked in a long time, but Dugong says that she only talks to her when she needs help. Even something simple, Dugong complains, doesn’t get thanked for. Victoria says not to worry because she is going to give a small gift. Dugong is curious and asks what it is, and Victoria says that it will be a man. Dugong is really happy.
~ The men of the town are going to out to sea to capture more fish. Lorelei is skipping on the beach and looks out to sea. She turns worried and tells them not to go out because one of them will be gone. Gaspar tells her why are they going to waste a nice day to go fishing. But she reiterates what she said. Manding asks her if she’s sure, but Gaspar tells him that she’s crazy. All of them laugh, and all of a sudden, she forgets about what she said and even tells them to go ahead to sea. Later, there is a man who goes out to sea by himself. He hears a beautiful voice singing in the water. Intrigued, he goes in the water never to return to land again.
~ Cristina is on the beach crying, but she hears people calling her name. She turns around and sees 4 mermaids in the sea waiting for her. They tell her that they’re there to bring her with them...
Episode 4: February 26, 2004
~ Cristina goes with them to the mermaids’ beach. All of them are happy and are waving to her. Istah introduces herself and says that for a couple days, they have been watching her and they know that she has no other place to go. They just wanted to tell her that their home is open for her. Cristina thanks them, but says that she is still a human. Vixia tells her that now that she has a tail, she is now a mermaid. Cristina doesn’t agree and says that her feet will come back on day. Vixia asks Istah if they’re going to use her human name. Quiana interrupts and thinks that they should name her a different name. Istah agrees. Cristina happily accepts the name that they give her, Marina. They all are happy that they have a new family member.
~ Esther is looking out to the sea once again. Pilar tells Virgilio that she thinks that maybe she should get a psychiatrist for her. Virgilio wonders if Esther is going crazy, and she answers that she might be soon.
~ Luna comes home and Victoria is making a concoction. She asks her daughter to pass her a blood ingredient, but she gets the wrong thing. Victoria gets mad at her and doesn’t understand why her daughter is not accepting the fact that she has to inherit her mother’s powers. Luna doesn’t want to, but it doesn’t matter to Victoria.
~ The mermaids are playing in the sea and Marina goes to Istah. She tells Marina that she is one of the most beautiful mermaids here. Marina asks Istah if she can call her “mom.” Istah explains that mermaids are born through eggs, like fish. Also, mermaids never age no matter how many thousands of years they are. But if it’s what will make her happy, she agrees to it. Marina is ecstatic to have a mom again.
~ Luna runs to the rocks trying to find Cristina. She calls Cristina’s name because she feels lonely and she needs a friend to talk to. She is sad that she can’t find her.
~ One day, Marina goes to Istah and says that they should go play on the other side of the ocean. But Istah tells her that it is prohibited since it is the property of Dugong. Cristina wonders who Dugong is. Istah, now angry, warns her never to go there. Vixia and Quiana go to Marina and notices that she is sad. Marina explains why Istah is mad at her. Vixia says that she doesn’t like hearing Dugong’s name because she's a bad creature that eats people, especially men. They continue saying that when Dugong's singing, it scares all the fish away, and because of that, humans hate mermaids because they think that it’s the mermaids singing.
~ Doctor Sandico goes to the resort. He asks Virgilio how is Esther. He says that she hasn’t changed, is always sad, and crying. Pilar goes to tell Esther, who’s still looking at the sea, that the doctor is here. Esther thinks that she sees Cristina and is about to go in the water. They all pull her back from going in. She desperately calls out Cristina’s name.
~ Vixia and Quiana find Marina all by herself. She wishes that her feet would come back so that she can go home. Quiana thinks that she’s not happy with them, but she assures her that she is happy, it’s just that she is still half human. They go to Istah and tell her that they were thinking of bringing Marina to Dugong to see if maybe it can help because Marina‘s always sad. Istah disagrees and says that Dugong will never change. So they ask her how can they make Marina happy. Istah tells them to just play with her because she’s going to get used to it living with them.
~ Years pass and Marina has grown up to be a beautiful woman. It seems that Istah was right, and she has gotten used to her new family and mom.
~ At the resort, Isabel tries to sneak out of the house, but Mario catches her. Isabel says that their mom (Pilar) has ordered her to go out and buy something. Overhearing this, Pilar says that she has not said something like that. Mario tells her to work, but she complains that there’s nothing to do. He thinks that she’s going to go see Carlitos, but she denies it, and since she has no excuse to go out, Mario tells her to help Pilar change the sheets. She asks him why he’s so overprotective of her and that it would’ve been better if their father was there. Mario tells her that since their father is gone, he’s the one now in charge. Then walks in Raphael, Esther’s psychiatrist.
~ Pilar brings him to Esther, who’s looking at the sea, and he explains that he was just in the area, so he decided to stop by. Esther is happy that he took over his dad’s job to take care of her. He’s thankful that she believed in him and says that she is one of his favorite patients. Pilar and Esther laugh because he and his father are the same.
~ Marina and Vixia are looking at Esther, Pilar, and Raphael from behind a rock. Vixia says that Esther is so beautiful and that Marina inherited her mother’s beauty. Marina looks at the necklace, and Vixia tells her to throw it away since it‘s so old. Marina tells her that her mother gave it to her, and Vixia is sorry. Marina decides to leave because maybe Istah is looking for them, but Vixia thought they were going to look for her friend (Luna). She decides to do it at another day.
~ Meanwhile, Victoria is on the cliff. Luna comes out to tell her the food is ready.
~ The mermaids has stumbled upon treasure boxes. Vixia is trying to open one, but she can’t. Quiana says that if there is a lock on the box, it’s not going to open. Marina is shocked that she knows about locks. She explains that she knows about them because she and her ex-boyfriend saw one before. Marina is even more shocked to know that she had a boyfriend because that means that she had feet before, so she asks her how did she get feet. Quiana doesn’t want to tell her because it‘s not allowed to talk about it, so she tells her to forget about it, but Marina keeps on persisting.
~ Marina and Quiana go into a cave and Marina wonders why they’re there. She explains that this is where she got her feet - through Dugong. She further explains that the reason why Istah made Dugong’s lair off-limits is because whenever a mermaid gains feet, their lives tend to get ruined. Vixia finds them and tells them that she was able to open the box. Marina promises Quiana not to tell anyone that she knows about this. When Vixia and Quiana leave, Marina goes deeper in the cave and comes across a glowing stone. While staring at it, Dugong creeps up behind her and Marina screams...
Episode 5: February 27, 2004
~ Dugong asks Marina what is she doing here without any permission and who is she. Frightened, Marina introduces herself and says that someone told her that she can give mermaids feet, so she was wondering if she could get feet. Dugong tells her that if she wants feet, she’s going to have to pay for it. Marina says that she has nothing to give and tries to leave. But Dugong stops her and says that because she entered the lair without any permission, in order for her to leave, she has to pay.
~ Istah asks Vixia and Quiana where is Marina. They look at each other and are surprised that she isn’t here. Istah gets worried and knows something’s wrong. At the cave, Dugong has imprisoned Marina and she pleads to be set free, but Dugong just mocks her. Quiana explains to Istah what they were doing earlier and that she knows that what she did was wrong, but Marina kept on insisting. Istah is angered by this because Quiana promised to never say anything about her getting feet. She tells the mermaids to gather together with their weapons.
~ The mermaids enter Dugong’s lair. Dugong taunts them that they aren’t going to get Marina. A furious Istah raises a stone. It gives off a bright light that blinds Dugong. Istah orders the mermaids to attack with their fins. Marina tells them to stop. They end up pinning Dugong to the wall with a trident. Victoria feels that something is wrong in the water, so she orders Luna to bring her to the cliff.
~ The mermaids return to their beach and Marina says sorry for putting them through all this trouble. Quiana says that the most important thing is that she is ok.
~ At the cliff, Victoria tells Dugong that she heard something happening in the water. Dugong lies that it was the mermaids fighting with each other because they can’t get along. Victoria wonders why Dugong isn’t showing itself to her, but Dugong says that they will talk at another time
~ Istah thought that Marina was happy with them and has accepted that she was a mermaid. Marina assures her that she’s happy, but she asked her why she hid the fact that there was a way to get feet from. Istah doesn’t understand why it isn’t enough to hear the mermaids’ story or that her people wanted to kill her because she was a mermaid. Marina points out that they wanted to kill her because she was a mermaid - bad luck - but if she were to be a human again, then they wouldn’t hurt her. But Istah disagrees. She says that humans never change and that she is just going to be hurt. Marina becomes upset and states that she’s a human and that no one has the right to take that away from her.
~ Marina goes to see Esther, who’s looking at the sea. Raphael and Pilar are with her. She tells Raphael that she and Pilar were thinking of selling the resort because business is low and she has neglected her businesses in Manila long enough. Raphael agrees, but asks her if she’s ready to let go of this place and the sea. Esther is crying and Marina wants to be with her.
~ Marina is by herself and Quiana and Vixia try to get her to go with them to go eat. Vixia asks her if she’s eaten yet, and she nods her head no. Marina then tells them to leave her alone, so they leave.
~ Luna is giving Elias a bath, so this whole time, she has been taking care of her father. Lorelei comes home from picking up garbage and Luna tells her to take a bath. She doesn’t want to. Luna asks her if she feels nasty because she’s been wearing those clothes for a couple days already, but she makes excuses that she’s going to get wet and will turn into a fish. Luna looks confused.
~ Istah asks Vixia if Marina has been eating. Vixia says no and says that she doesn’t even laugh when they’re telling jokes. Istah doesn‘t want Marina to act like this all the time, so she tells Vixia to tell Marina that she wants to talk to her. Marina goes to Istah. She tells Marina that after all these years, she has treated her as her own daughter and, out of all the mermaids, she’s the most important to her. She also says that she gets hurt whenever she sees her sad. But, she continues, if it’s going to make her happy to go back to where she came from, she agrees to let her go to Dugong to get her feet. Marina doesn’t understand. Istah takes out her beautiful necklace and gives it to Marina to give to Dugong as a payment. Marina doesn’t want to take it, but Istah insists since she has had this necklace for a long time. Istah is sure that Dugong will accept this necklace. Marina doesn’t believe this, but is so thankful, that she starts crying tears of joy. Istah informs her that before she gives the necklace, Dugong has to promise her to give her feet and, most importantly, the “batong malahi." She needs the rock so that all the other mermaids will be safe against Dugong. Marina agrees and hugs her mom. Marina takes the necklace and goes into the water, but once she gets into the water, Istah turns very old.
~ Vixia and Quiana ask Istah what has happened and the whereabouts of the necklace. Istah explains that she gave it to Marina to get her feet. Vixia is worried about how are they going to fight Dugong now that the necklace is gone, but Istah assures them that Marina will get the “batong malahi” so that they can stay safe from Dugong.
~ Marina goes into Dugong’s lair and calls for her to come out. Dugong tells her to leave if she has brought nothing, but Marina says that she has something. Dugong wonders what it is, and she shows the necklace. Dugong is shocked, but is very happy. Marina says that she will only give it if she promises to give her feet and the “batong malahi”. Dugong doesn’t agree since the necklace is not enough, so Marina turns around to leave. But Dugong changes her mind since she really wants it. She agrees to give Marina what she wants for the necklace. She orders Dugong to bring the stone to her, but she can’t touch the stone. So Marina has to get it herself.
~ Later, she returns with the “batong malahi” and notices that all the mermaids are crying. She sees what happened to Istah and wants to know what happened. Quiana explains that the necklace was what made Istah stay young and beautiful. Marina feels so guilty and sad that she tells them that she is going to go back and get the necklace. She also says that she would sacrifice her having feet in order for Istah to be normal again. Istah says that it is ok and that she really loves her. Marina asks for forgiveness and that if she just knew, she wouldn’t have done it. Vixia tells her that Istah has decided and just wants her to be happy and to enjoy her new life. Marina breaks down and tells them that she loves them all.
~ The mermaids give Marina a goodbye gift of pearls. She hugs both Vixia and Quiana. All sad, they wave goodbye when Marina gets into the water. Later that night, Marina gets to the shore by Esther’s house. She sits up and her tail become feet. She feels them to see if it’s true. She is so happy that she cries tears of joy...

~ Week Two ~

by

~ When Marina goes on shore, she remembers Dugong’s instructions: once she’s on land, her tail will become a human with feet. She stands up for the first time in a long time. Someone calls her name. She turns around and it’s Sheila. She wraps a happy Marina in a robe and they hug. Sheila brings her to a small room. She thanks her for getting everything she needs, especially what she has to learn about business. Sheila says it’s ok and that she owes a lot to mermaids.
~ The next day, Esther explains to the Sheila (who is an attorney) that if it was up to her, she wouldn’t be selling the resort, even though there isn’t a lot of memories. Pilar interrupts and tells Esther that they talked about this. She says that she and Raphael felt that this was the right time for Esther to leave and the deal that Sheila is offering is a good one. Sheila assures them that they will not neglect the resort. In fact, in the contract, they can stay in one of the cottages whenever they visit for free, so it’s like Esther is still the owner. Esther agrees and tells her to make the final draft of the contract.
~ Mario is upset over the conversation between Esther and Sheila. Pilar tells him that they have no right to interfere with Esther’s decision because they aren’t really family. He doesn’t understand because they’re happy there and he’s happy with his job. Pilar says that if he just knew what Esther went through, but he was small back then to understand. He asks what happened and why she doesn’t want to tell him. But she says she can’t because it’s not her secret and that they should just forget this place and leave.
~ Isabel is looking out at the sea and Carlitos is with her. He asks her if it was up to her, would she stay here or in Manila. She says here and he’s happy. He comments that she really does have feelings for him and asks her to be his girlfriend. But she tells him it’s because she’s waiting for her dad to come back. Carlitos thought that her dad was dead, but Isabel has a flashback. She remembers when her, Mario, and Virgilio were fishing. Virgilio heard someone singing in the sea and went into a trance, and she was scared. Something was coming toward the boat. He looks in the water and he jumps in. She screams and sees a mermaid’s tail. She wakes up Mario and they scream for him. Back to the present, she promises herself that if she sees a mermaid, she will kill it.
~ At the fish market, where Luna works, someone tells them that someone bought the resort. They wonder who it is and where they‘re from. Someone says that she shouldn’t waste her beauty selling fish, that she should work at the resort.
~ Sheila goes to Marina’s room and brings the final draft of the contract. When she mentions “your mother” to Marina, she corrects herself and says “Esther.” She was wondering if Marina wanted to change anything. Marina says no, but wants her to make sure that she will get everything Esther has so that she can feel how it is to lose everything. Sheila doesn’t want to intrude, but she tells Marina that she doesn’t understand why Esther hasn’t sold or left the resort after all these years. She also says that Esther is always saying that she keeps hoping to see something to for something to return. Sheila doesn‘t know if Esther is talking about Marina, but if it is her, then Marina’s story doesn’t fit.
~ At Victoria’s house, Luna tells her mom that she wants to apply at the resort so she can make more money than in the fish market and she can pay for her medicine. Angry, Victoria says that she isn’t going to work for anyone, just her, and if there is something that she is going to learn, it’s the powers that she’s going to inherit. She says that it’s the only thing she needs, but Luna explains that she has other plans for her future and doesn’t want to be selling fish her whole life. Victoria tells her she’s being hard-headed and like her dad. If she keeps going with her ambition, she says that she’s going to make sure that she turns becomes just like Elias.
~ Marina is bored in her room, so she goes outside. She sees Quiana and Vixia on the beach. She’s happy to see them. They tell her that they came to drop her off a present of pearls from Istah. She asks how is she, and they say she is ok. Marina thanks them, but feels bad that they’re going through all this trouble. Quiana says that the other mermaids did the same thing to her before when she was a human.
~ The next day, Sheila gives the payment for the resort to Esther. She looks at the check and says “Marina Aguas.” She asks Sheila if she’s going to meet Marina, and she says that they will soon meet for they are going to have a welcome party for her at the resort. She gives Esther an invitation to the party and says that everyone is invited.
~ Raphael looks at the invitation. He asks her how it feels to have finally made the decision to sell the resort. She says that it’s sad, but also exciting because she’s going to go back to Manila after all these years. But she keeps thinking of leaving this place. He says that it’s hard and sad at first, but by the time she takes care of her businesses in Manila, she will feel better. Esther asks Raphael to be her escort at the party, and he happily agrees.
~ Isabel is so excited for the party since it’s going to be her first real, social party. Carlitos asks if he can go. She says yes because everyone is invited, and she tells him that he is her date.
~ Sheila tells Marina that she was trying to find her dad to give him an invitation, but whenever she asked someone where he is, it seemed that they didn’t want to answer her. She didn’t want to ask more questions for fear that the people at the resort would get suspicious. Marina is upset by this.
~ Victoria is on the cliff and calls for Dugong. Dugong actually comes out of the water in its normal form wearing Istah‘s necklace, and Victoria is shocked. She asks where did she get the power to get out of the water, avoiding the question, Dugong says not to panic because she's not going to fight with her for power. Dugong continues to say that Victoria is the most powerful on land, and she is the most powerful under water. Also, she just wanted to see in person her cousin, Victoria!
~ Sheila, walking with Marina, tells the staff of the resort their jobs for the party, and Luna is one of the workers. She’s happy to have a job there. Later, she goes to Lorelei’s house and tells them that Marina is so beautiful, even though she only saw a side of her face. Lorelei asks if she’s beautiful, and Luna says yes, but she says that her being a good person is more important their her looks. She tells Elias that she’s going to work really hard so that she can save enough money to remodel Lorelei’s house and bring him away from this town. Elias doesn’t want to leave. However, he wants to go bring Luna to the sea to find the “tunay ng pag-ibig.” Lorelei can’t remember Luna‘s name. Luna repeats it and she remembers. She says that she doesn’t understand why she can’t remember things now because she used to smart and beautiful before. After that, she calls Luna “Marya” (and of we all know that Meryl is the niece of Maricel Soriano).
~ Pulling Luna’s hair and pushing her around, Victoria is furious at her daughter. She says that she’s always not following her and that the next time she sees does it again, she threatens to not let her see her dad ever again. She then tells her that she’s not going to let her work at the resort because she belongs to her. Luna is crying.
~ Esther goes to the beach and puts flowers in the ocean for Cristina. Esther cries, while Marina watches what she’s doing.
~ It’s the party for Marina. Carlitos asks Isabel why she’s avoiding. She says that she’s embarrassed by his looks. He is confused. Mario sees Luna and asks why is she late. She is sorry and explains that she had to sneak away from her mom, so he tells her to get ready. Raphael gets a call from Quintin and excuses himself from the table. Sheila introduces Marina. She walks down the stairs in a beautiful dress and wearing the necklace Esther gave her. Everyone claps for her. She says good evening and thanks them for coming. Esther goes up to her and Sheila introduces Esther to Marina. They shake hands. Esther notices the necklace. Marina walks away and Esther asks Pilar if she saw it. Not believing what she’s seeing, Esther goes up to Marina and says “Cristina...”
Episode 7: March 2, 2004
~ Marina pretends that she doesn’t know what Esther is talking about. Esther keeps insisting that she is Cristina and that she gave that necklace when she was a little girl before she went away. She asks her if she’s not Cristina, then how did the necklace get to her. Pilar is trying to bring Esther away from Marina because everyone is looking at her. Marina looks away and is fighting back tears, while Esther is crying. Later, Marina is looking at the sea. She explains to Sheila that she’s waited for the longest time to face her mom with the necklace and tell her that she’s not Cristina, but she doesn’t know why she feels weird. Sheila says that Esther might suspect something if she leaves the party all of sudden. She says that she just needs to take a breath, so Sheila asks Luna to get her a glass of water. While Marina looks at Luna, she remembers when they were kids and playing together.
~ Esther tells Raphael that she sure that that is the necklace, but Pilar thinks that it might be a copy. She disagrees because of her mother instincts, and is sure Marina and Cristina are the same person. Raphael thinks that there is a logical explanation and that she should just rest. Esther asks him to ask Marina about it, and he agrees.
~ Marina thanks Luna for the water. When she goes away, Marina tells Sheila that Luna was her friend when she was a little kid and that she wants to help her.
~ Isabel is looking at Marina from far away. She is in awe of her beauty, and Mario tells her to stop because she’s like a broken record. She tells him that from now on, Marina is her idol, and when she grows up, she wants to be pretty like her. Carlitos tells her that she’s already pretty. Mario madly says that if it weren’t for Marina, they wouldn’t be leaving the resort. Sheila brings Raphael to Marina and introduces her to him. He asks for forgiveness about what Esther did, and is about to ask about the necklace, but Marina excuses herself.
~ Esther is dreaming about the night that she gave the necklace to Cristina. She wakes up and grabs the picture of her daughter from the side table. She kisses it and holds it close to her heart.
~ The next day, at Sheila’s office, Marina asks her how long Esther would be staying at the resort. Sheila says that they didn’t talk about it, but Marina tells her that she has changed her mind and wants them out as soon as possible. Sheila thought that the plan was to make Esther agonize to the point that she would leave, and then they would take over her businesses one by one. Marina says that that is still the plan, but now that she keeps forcing herself to think that she is her daughter, she thinks it will be more hurtful if she kicks them out now to stop Esther’s hope of seeing her. The maid comes in and tells them that Esther has come to see her. Marina hides and listens in on their conversation. Esther asks Sheila who Marina is and if she is Cristina. Marina is shocked. Sheila pretends that she doesn’t know. Esther says that she wants to know what happened to her daughter, who almost became a… but she stops herself and continues to say what has happened to her daughter ever since she left. Sheila asks if she wants water, but Esther pleads with her to answer the question. Marina is upset, while Esther is crying.
~ Victoria pours water on Luna to wake her up. Victoria tells her that she knows she snuck out to go to the resort. She hits her and tells her to hurry and get ready for work. She adds that if she doesn’t want to sell fish all her life, she’s just going to pass her powers to her so that she will be the queen of this place. Luna says that she doesn’t want to. Victoria is furious, pulls Luna’s hair, and tells her that she never wants to hear her say that. Luna is crying.
~ Sheila asks Marina if what she said was right because it seems that Esther didn’t believe her. Marina says that she’s giving them one week to pack up. Sheila says that they’re not ready yet and asks her if she has any sympathy, love, or even forgiveness in her heart for her mother, especially since she overhead the conversation. Marina says no and it won’t change. She wants them to leave as soon as possible, and when it’s full moon, she wants them to be gone.
~ Esther tells Pilar and Raphael that she doesn’t believe what Sheila told her. She tells him that since Sheila’s boss is Marina, she can hide stuff about her background. He agrees, but says they can’t assume. Esther explains that they haven’t shown any papers about Marina, that they just told her that she grew up in America and is the youngest of 5 kids. She wonders why if there’s nothing to hide, then how come all of a sudden they changed their mind from letting them stay there all they want to wanting them to leave now. Pilar thinks it’s because they’re planning on expanding the resort. Raphael offers to do a background check on Marina to put her mind at ease. Esther is grateful.
~ At the cliff, Victoria tells Dugong that Luna’s being so stubborn and if she doesn’t open her heart, she’s not going to learn her powers. Dugong asks why is she in a hurry. She explains that if Luna doesn’t get any powers, how can she get better (about her being paralyzed). Dugong tells her that if she wants Luna to learn her power, then she should use her mind. Victoria doesn’t understand how.
~ At Lorelei’s house, Lorelei gets Luna’s name mistaken again and even thinks that Elias is Luna’s boyfriend. Luna explains once again, and she remembers. She tells Luna to always remind her because she knows that she always forgets. Just then, Elias starts choking and isn’t able to breathe. They both get worried, and at the same time, Victoria is chanting Elias’ name. Unbeknownst to her, Luna has actually used her power to make Elias breathe again. Victoria says “your welcome, Luna” and smiles.
~ Raphael is talking to Quintin and asks him to do a background check on Marina. He asks why is he so interested in her and even jokes if she might be his sister-in-law. He tells her to fax him anything he finds.
~ Luna comes home and Victoria asks if HE'S ok. Luna doesn’t know who she’s talking about. Victoria answers Elias and asks if he can breathe now. Luna is shocked and Victoria admits that she did it. She threatens that if she continues to be stubborn, she’s going to do more than that to Elias. She tells her to decide if she wants the power or not and reminds her that her father’s life is in her hands.
~ Luna is looking at the sea and is crying. Marina goes up to her and asks if SHE'S still hurting you. Luna is shocked, but Marina changes what she said and asks her why she’s crying. She says that her mom got mad at her. Changing the subject, Marina asks her not call her “po” because she’s not old. Luna says that she’s just giving respect because she’s her boss. Marina says that it was last night in front of a lot of people, but now that it’s just them two, she can just call her Marina. Marina also says that she has a good feeling about her. She explains that whenever she sees her, she reminds her of her friend when she was a kid. She then asks Luna if she wants a job at the resort. She says yes, but her mother won’t let her. Marina offers to talk to her. Luna says no because she’s just going to get mad, and she just wants her to work at their fish stand, but thanks her anyway. Marina asks her about her dad, and offers to talk to him to convince her mom to let her work at the resort. Luna says it’s not going to happen because they hate each other and it’s been a long time that they’ve been divorced, but she tells Marina that if she just asks her dad, he will say yes because he’s nice. Marina asks her where she is.
~ The next day, she brings Marina to Lorelei’s house. Luna wakes Elias up and when he looks at Marina, they both feel something strange. Elias says that it’s her, that SHE has found the “tunay ng pag-ibig...”
Episode 8: March 3, 2004
~ Elias is so excited to see Marina. He grabs her and tells her that it’s really important to find the “tunay ng pag-ibig,” which is the answer. Marina starts crying since she knows that he is her dad. At the same time, Luna is trying to break them apart while excusing her dad for he has an illness. Lorelei tells Marina to find whatever he’s talking about and comments that she’s so pretty. She asks Marina if she’s been part of a beauty contest, if she’s so beautiful, if this is the time for her to join one, and that she thinks she’s crying because she’s so beautiful. Marina isn’t paying attention and is looking at Elias. Marina runs out, and Luna tells Lorelei that she scared her off. So Luna goes after her. Lorelei comments that Marina’s pretty, but rude because if you’re pretty, you should be nice. Luna goes up to Marina. She says she’s sorry because he reminds her of her dad in America because he also has an illness. Luna is surprised that they have another thing in common. Marina leaves.
~ Carlitos asks Isabel if she wants to watch a movie. She says later, which makes him ask when will that be because they’re almost leaving. She says that Pilar isn’t going to approve of her going out, so he says that he will ask Mario for permission. She explains that just because he’s friends with her brother, that doesn’t mean he’s going to let him go with her. Quintin rolls up to the resort. He goes inside and asks “Ms. Beautiful” (Isabel) where Raphael is. So giddy with his looks, she tells him that he’s by the pool. Quintin leaves. She turns around and tells Carlitos that he’s so handsome.
~ Raphael asks Quintin what he’s doing here. He jokes that his brother is not happy to see him. Raphael says that he told him to do something about Marina. Quintin he tells him not to worry, and that it will be faxed right away. Esther and Pilar go to the brothers. Esther tells him it’s good that he still remembers this place, and asks him when was the last time he was here. He says it was a long time. She tells him that if he came later, he might’ve not caught them there. Quintin asks why. Raphael interrupts and explains to Esther that Quintin was trying to find out about Marina, but when he ordered his brother to do it, he just passed it on to another person. Quintin says not to worry because he’s rushing it. Esther hopes before they leave, she can reveal who really is Marina. Pilar says that she’s nervous about what they’re doing especially with Quintin and Raphael because they’re giving Esther hope. Esther says there’s nothing wrong with what they’re doing. Quintin agrees and says that they’re just checking on Marina. Raphael says that they’re just doing this for her peace of mind. Esther asks Pilar if there was another chance for her to get Virgilio back, wouldn’t she do something. Pilar agrees, but tells them to do whatever.
~ Sheila asks if she’s sure to Marina. She says yes and that she wouldn’t ever forget Elias’ face. Elias is her dad. Sheila points out that Luna then is her half-sister. Marina says yes, but who is her mom. She explains that that’s why she feels really close to her, not because we’re friends, but because they’re related. Sheila asks if she’s suspicious of anything. Marina says no and tells her that she wants to know everything.
~ Victoria is talking to Dugong. Dugong asks her if she followed the advice. Victoria says yes, that Luna seems to be giving in. Dugong teases her and asks if she’s pretty, and Victoria says yes in a reluctant way. Dugong asks if she really wants to give up her power. Victoria assures her that she knows what she’s doing.
~ Carlitos is talking to Mario, who says that him and his sister is different. Mario says that he wants a simple life and if they lived in the province, it’s fine with him. But Isabel is different. Carlitos tells him that it’s like he’s saying that he has no chance with Isabel. Mario says it’s not that because she does like him, but if he’s serious about courting her that he just can’t be him. Carlitos asks what’s wrong with him because he works and gets a lot of business with fishing. Mario agrees, but he can’t just go along fishing with his dad. He has to have ambition in life.
~ Luna is walking home. Marina is following her. Quintin is following Marina. Marina sees where Luna lives. She turns around and Quintin scares her. He pretends that he’s looking for something and asks her for directions, but she pretends that she’s not from around here and leaves. Quintin smiles.
~ At Victoria’s house, she asks Luna if she has decided about the power. Luna doesn’t respond. She repeats that if she really loves her dad, then she should think about his life.
~ Lorelei and Elias are at the beach. She’s putting on make up and asks him if it’s pretty, but he starts to splash water on her. She gets really nervous and screams that she doesn’t like to be splashed on. She has a flashback. She remembers when she was a young, beautiful mermaid (not how she looks like now)! She went to Dugong and asked to be turned into a mermaid. Of course, Dugong asked what’s the payment, but she has nothing. Dugong tells her that it’s going to take her beauty and intelligence. So Lorelei is crying while Dugong is doing the spell. Later, she goes on the beach and she transforms to how she looks today. She makes herself up and goes to Armando, who’s drinking with his friends. She says that she’s Lorelei, but he doesn’t believe it. She explains that she turned into a human because he promised her to love her. He explains that HIS Lorelei is beautiful, white-skinned, and a mermaid. He also tells her that she looks like a crazy person and they all laugh. Back to the present, she’s crying and Elias says sorry.
~ Raphael asks Quintin where he went. Quintin explains that he was doing his assignment - following Marina. Raphael is shocked and asks if she saw him. He says that they were even face to face, but she didn’t know who he was. He also adds that she’s really pretty, so if he’s not interested in her, he says that she is her type. Esther interrupts asks him what really happened. He explains that he pretended that he was asking for directions, but she acted weird like she was scared. Esther is confused. He explains that Marina was following a girl, so he asked around and found out that that girl’s name is Luna, who lives near a cliff. He also says that he’s confused because Marina is so interested in these two crazy people (a boy and a girl), and Esther is shocked. She says that it’s Elias because he’s the only male who’s crazy in this town. Raphael asks Quintin if he’s sure about this. He says “cross my heart, hope you die.”
~ Marina is on the beach talking to Vixia and a new mermaid named Myria. Myria tells her to take care of herself, especially around these people because they’re not trustworthy. Marina tells them not to worry because Sheila is there, but Vixia warns her about Dugong since it now has power. Marina says that she’s far away from Dugong, but Myria tells her that not to be sure even though she’s far away from Dugong because she doesn’t know what else can happen. Vixia explains that that’s why they’re there to watch her, because Istah ordered them to. Marina gets worried. Myria tells her that they just wanted to warn her and to be strong. Vixia says that she feels someone is coming, and they swim away.
~ It’s Luna. She calls for Marina, and she asks her what she’s doing there. She says that she’s just getting air. Luna says that when she was a little girl, she would talk to the ocean when she would have a problem. Luna says that she might not believe what she’s going to tell her because she was raised well, but she says that this town has a lot of folk tales. Marina asks like what, and she asks her if she believes in mermaids. Luna says she saw one when she was a little kid. That they were friends and her name was Cristina. She also says that she was really nice since whenever she had a problem she would tell her, and they would swim together, but it’s been a long time that she hasn’t seen her, so she doesn’t know if she’s ever going to see her. Marina tells her that even though she’s far away, she might still be watching her. Luna is happy and comes to the conclusion that Marina believes in mermaids too. Marina wants her to treat her like how she treated Cristina - like friends. Luna says that she’s embarrassed, but she will, even though she’s her boss. Marina says that if she needs anything or someone to talk to when she has a problem, she’s there for her. Luna thanks her and they hug.
~ Esther says that she can’t sleep because what Quintin said is still in her head. Pilar tells her not to hope so much because she’s just going to get hurt in the end. Esther asks her to explain the actions of Marina, like what is her interest to Elias and who is this Luna because Victoria’s place is by the cliff. Pilar says that a lot of years have passed, and a lot of people now live here. Esther doesn’t believe it. Pilar tells her to not to always follow what she’s feeling because sometimes feelings don’t tell the truth. Esther says that she’s not going to leave the resort until she finds out who really is Marina.
~ The next day, Esther and Raphael go to Sheila. She is giving back the check that Marina gave her. She says that her mind has changed and that she doesn’t want to give up the resort and the guesthouse. Sheila explains that the deal is done, they already signed the contract, and that Marina has already paid. Esther says she’s giving up the money because she doesn’t need it, and if she needs to buy it again from Marina, she will do that. Sheila assures her that it’s not for sale. Raphael asks her to make an appointment with Marina so that they can talk about it, but Sheila tells them Marina has plans for the resort. Esther tells her that she wants to know the truth if Marina is Cristina. Sheila says that they’ve already talked about this, but Esther interrupts and says if she isn’t Cristina then what does she want with Elias. Sheila is shocked and Esther is crying.
~ Later, Sheila tells Marina what happened. Marina is upset and asks how did they find out. Sheila says that she doesn’t know and was surprised. Marina asks her if they got suspicious, but she hopes not. Sheila points out Raphael could be behind this because he’s a doctor. Sheila assures her that resort is hers and that she owns everything , unless they contest the identity of the buyer. Marina asks what she means. Sheila explains that the name “Marina Aguas” is fake. They can search, but it will take some time before they learn the truth. Sheila asks if there’s any hope for her and her mom to make amends. She also tells Marina that if she should’ve seen how much she was pleading to find out if she’s her daughter or not, and it makes her really want to believe that she really loves her and that she really didn’t want to throw her away. Marina tells her to stop.
~ Later, Mario tells Esther that she has a visitor. Marina and Sheila go to the resort. Esther goes up to Marina and they look at each other...
Episode 9: March 4, 2004
~ Esther tells them that they’re eating, and asks if they want to join. Sheila says that they don’t want to intrude, but they’re the ones who asked to talk to Marina. Esther says it’s good so that they can figure out all the problems. Marina is straight to the point and says that she’s not selling the resort. She also tells them that she wants them all to know who she really is, so she passes document papers to Esther that shows that she really is “Marina Aguas.” They both leave and Sheila asks Marina if they were a little strong. Marina disagrees and tells her we need to be strong in life - that is the biggest thing that she learned from Esther, and that she’s just showing it to her mom. Esther is upset and crying. Raphael tells her to look at the bright side because she found out the truth that she’s not Cristina, so it was a good decision to sell this place and now to move on with her life.
~ Victoria asks Luna if she has decided because later tonight is the right time for her to pass on her powers. Luna doesn’t answer. Victoria advices that she should think of her father’s life the whole afternoon. Luna says that she doesn’t need the afternoon because she’s already decided. She agrees with Victoria that she should think of her father’s life. She has agreed to get the power, but she tells her that she has to take back Elias’ curse. She excuses herself to go to the market and leaves right away. Victoria is shocked.
~ Pilar is packing. Isabel asks her what time they are leaving. She says tomorrow night because it’s a full moon, and that’s what Marina asked for. Pilar takes Cristina’s baby book and looks at a picture of Esther and Cristina. Later, Pilar decides to go to Marina and brings the picture with her. She explains that Esther doesn’t know that she’s here, but because they grew up together, she’s doing this for her. Pilar wants her to forgive Esther, so that before they leave they will have made amends. Marina doesn’t really care what she’s saying. Pilar gives the picture to her and says that she is Cristina, Esther‘s missing child. Pilar explains that she is the reason why this whole time Esther’s been sad, lost an appetite to run her businesses, and almost lost her mind. She thinks that Marina doesn’t understand how it feels to lose a child because she’s still young, but Pilar explains that if you lose someone you really love, especially a child, it’s really hard. She wants Marina just to understand and forgive her if Esther has troubled her. Marina is crying, but doesn’t show her tears to her.
~ Esther goes to Pilar, who is in Cristina’s room. Esther asks what she’s doing, and Pilar says that she’s packing because they’re leaving soon. Esther asks her not to do it because she wants to do it herself. Cristina’s room has stayed the same, and there are even mermaid figurines. She cries over her daughter. Marina is looking at the picture, and she is crying as well. Marina remembers when she was a little girl, playing with Esther.
~ By the ocean, Isabel goes to Carlitos and asks him if it’s true that he applied at the resort. He admits it, but he says he didn’t get hired because he didn’t graduate high school. She wonders what went through his head to apply. He explains that he’s embarrassed of the girl that he has been courting for a long time because she might say she doesn’t have any ambition, and if she’s going to Manila, he wants to find a good job so that he can save a lot of money. Isabel is shocked that he would really do that for her. He tells her he loves her. She offers to talk to Marina so that she can hire him, and he sarcastically says that she’s talking like they’re close. She feels that she and Marina will be close later because she’s really nice.
~ Marina goes to Lorelei’s house and tries to sneak in some things for her dad, while he’s sleeping, but Lorelei sees her and asks what she’s doing here. Marina says that the things are for them and runs out. Lorelei tells her to come back because she wants to talk to her, and comments on how beautiful Marina is because it’s like she’s looking in a mirror.
~ Dugong asks Victoria if Luna has accepted to get the powers, but Victoria’s frustrated on what to answer. Dugong laughs and thinks Luna is giving her a problem. Victoria explains that she is blackmailing her because she will only take the power if she brings back Elias’ intelligence. Dugong asks her if she’s going to do it, but Victoria says no because she has never taken back a curse. Dugong says that this will be the first time, but Victoria disagrees. She says that she’s not going to let Luna do this because she’s not going to lose to her to her daughter. Dugong thinks that once she gives her the power, she might not be able to control her. Victoria explains that no one has ever said no to Victoria and no one has won over her. Dugong laughs and says that Elias has, but Victoria doesn’t believe what she said. She tells Dugong that she took care of him and to just wait for tonight.
~ Marina is talking to Sheila. She says that even though they showed her that picture, it doesn’t matter to her. She also says that no once can tell the documents she showed them are fake. She still hopes that she gets to see her dad. Sheila wonders if the love she shows for her dad, she could just have a little bit for her mom. Marina explains that he was not the one that threw her out and that it was her mom who always put Elias and her aside. Just then, a worker of the resort brings two lifeguards from Manila to them. Sheila introduces Randolph and Ronald to Marina. Everyone panics when a girl is about to drown in the swimming pool so Randolph dives into the water and saves her. Marina is impressed and hires them on the spot. They both are happy.
~ Luna goes to Lorelei’s house and asks where the food and clothes came from. Lorelei doesn’t remember. Luna tells her that she’s going to tell something to her dad. Lorelei forgets again who her dad is, so Luna tells her again. Luna brings Elias away from the table so that they can talk in private. She tells him that what she promised herself, that whatever happens she wouldn’t accept her mom’s power, is not going to happen. She says that even though the power is not from God, she has no other choice, but to do this for Elias. He tells her not to do it. Luna is shocked and asks him if he can understand her. But he goes back to his normal self and tells her that they should find “pag-ibig.” Luna is crying and tells him that she loves him so much, wants him to be better, and that she would do anything for him. They hug.
~ Vixia and Myria are at the beach. Marina sees them and notices that they always wait for her. They say it’s because it’s Istah’s orders to watch her. Vixia tells her it’s also because they miss her. Marina misses them all, as well. At the same time, Luna pulls Victoria on her wheelchair to the beach. Dugong starts to sing in a weird language. Victoria raises her arms. Luna demands her to take off the curse before she gets the power. Victoria says later, but Luna demands now so she can be sure. Victoria tells her that first she has to promise to her that when she gets the power she follow everything she tells her to do. Luna tells her that she will be her slave. Victoria raises her arms and lightning strikes. The curse is gone and Elias wakes up. He’s about to run out, but Lorelei tells him to sleep now. He asks who is “pag-ibig” and she says that it’s him because he always says that. He then asks her who she is, but she doesn’t remember. He tells her that he needs to talk to Esther because he knows how to turn Cristina into a human again. He explains that he knows that the kiss of true love is what Cristina needs to get rid of the curse. Marina hears the singing and asks them who’s doing it. They explain that it’s Dugong. She asks them what the song means. They say they don’t know, but it means that danger is coming. Marina looks worried.
~ Lorelei is shocked that Elias’ child turned into a mermaid. Victoria is holding Luna by her neck. She remembers what she was talking about with her dad. Victoria has feeling in her legs, and they both stand up. The power seems to be going into Luna’s body, but she suddenly breaks apart from her mother. Dugong stops singing. Elias and Lorelei were running on the beach, but lightning strikes him. Marina notices that Dugong has stopped. She wonders what kind of danger is going to happen. Victoria wants to know happened, and Luna says that she can’t do it. Victoria tells her that she can’t take it back because the time to do this has to be now. Victoria grabs Luna and tells her that they will do it again. Elias goes back to his normal form and tells her that they need to find “pag-ibig.” Lorelei gets frustrated because she doesn‘t understand why he keeps changing. Luna’s crying and doesn’t want to. Victoria tells her that her father will die, but Luna tells her to kill him because his life is nothing right now, anyway. She curses that the moment that her father dies, she will kill herself. Victoria is furious, pulls Luna to the ground, and starts beating her. Marina goes back to the resort, and sees a body on the steps. It’s an unconscious and bruised Luna. Marina takes her in her arms and wonders who did this...
Episode 10: March 5, 2004
~ Marina brings Luna to one of the rooms in the resort. Doctor Sandico observes her. She’s sorry that she called this late, but he was the first person that she thought of. He says it’s ok and just to call him Raphael. She asks if she’s ok. He says that she’s fine and it’s a good thing that her wounds aren’t deep. He also tells her that she just needs rest and that she can take pain killers because her body will be aching in the morning. He asks who hit her, but she avoids the question and thanks him again. Raphael leaves.
~ The next morning, Victoria tells Dugong that she doesn’t understand why Luna has courage to fight, but she’s scared of the power. Dugong advices her to maybe accept that Luna will never want it. Victoria disagrees because she’s her child, and that she’s the only one who can get the power to make her better. Dugong tells her to wait because maybe, one day, she will go to her and want the power. Dugong also recalls that Victoria said that the times are changing, but Victoria wonders when will it be where she can walk again. Dugong tells her to have patience.
~ Marina and Sheila are watching over Luna. When she wakes up, she says that she’s going to go home. Marina tells her to get some more rest because she’s not strong yet, and that maybe she can leave the next day. Luna denies. Marina asks her why she’s always on her mom’s side when she’s always hurts her. Luna explains that they don’t have a lot in common, but whatever happens, she’s still her mom. She thanks her for taking care of her. Marina reminds her that she can tell her if she needs anything. She also offers her to live in the resort with a job so that she can save money to make her father better. Luna wishes it was that easy, but she doesn’t know about her mom and her power. Realizing what she just said, Luna changes the subject. She repeats that she’s leaving now and thanks her again.
~ They’re all having breakfast at the resort. Raphael goes to the table and is sorry that he’s late because he woke up late. Quintin says out loud that he took an emergency call last night. Esther asks who it was, and he pretends that it was some guy’s kid. She asks why in the middle of the night, and he lies again. Quintin asks him to just tell her, but he tells him to be quiet and asks for the rice to cover up what they’re talking about. Pilar asks Raphael and Quintin if they packed yet because they’re going to leave with them. Quintin wants to stay, but Raphael tells him that they are going to leave altogether.
~ Luna goes home. Victoria doesn’t want to look at her, but says that it’s a good thing that she came back because she can never leave her and threatens to curse her. Luna tells her that she has been cursed ever since she gave birth to her, so it’s sure that she will never leave her.
~ Sheila goes to Marina and knows that she’s thinking about Luna. Marina says that she wants to help her, but she’s always not taking her offer and saying that her mom will get mad. She knows that Luna wanted to tell her something and wonders about the “power” that she was talking about. Sheila tells her that when she found out that they were half-sisters and ordered to find out about Luna‘s background, she asked around and found out that Victoria is the name of her mother. If she’s not mistaken, Sheila explains that the town believes that Victoria is their sea goddess because she has power. She says that people believe that she was given to them from God or others think of her as a mangkukulam and they believe that she has helped them a lot. She tells her that she heard Victoria’s nice, but doesn’t understand when they said that when she gets mad, she really gets mad. Marina whispers Victoria’s name to herself and remembers a time when she was a little kid. Pilar was telling Esther that Elias was outside of the house screaming that he’s sorry and he’s starting to cause a scene. Esther tells her not to let Cristina out and that he can go with Victoria. After, she tells Sheila that she’s the “Victoria” that Pilar was talking about.
~ Later, at Victoria’s house, she is screaming for Luna. Marina walks in, and Victoria asks who she is. Marina explains that Luna is her friend. Victoria figures out that she is the person that she keeps talking about. Marina introduces herself, and she lets her inside. They’re looking at each other really weird. Victoria says that she just missed Luna because she has to leave really early to watch their fish stand at the market. She asks what she needs and offers that she could help. Marina reveals that she went there to ask for permission for Luna to work at the resort. Victoria lies that Luna is a shy kid and that she didn’t finish high school because she’s lazy to go to school, so she’s wondering what kind of job she’s planning on giving her. Marina offers to educate Luna, even if it’s just short classes because Luna learns quickly. But Victoria repeats herself that she’s really lazy to learn, so it would be a waste. Marina tries to say something, but Victoria continues that if she lets Luna take the job, then what would happen to their place in the market and herself since she can’t walk or work, so she has to take care of her. Victoria thanks her, but says that her daughter can’t take the job.
~ Sheila goes to Randolph and Ronald and notices that it’s early for them to start work. They explain that they have to go and check the area so they can be familiar with the surroundings. She agrees. Later, Elias and Lorelei are playing on the beach near Randolph and Ronald. Elias sees a pair of snorkel goggles and steals it away from them. They to get it from him. They get mad, so they start beating him up. Lorelei tells them to stop and screams for help. Manding and some other guys pull them away from Elias, and he points out that Elias is crying. They say that he took their goggles. Manding tells them that he’s crazy, so he doesn’t know what he’s doing. He also tells Elias that it’s really theirs, so he has to return it. Lorelei says that he doesn’t want to, so she tries to trade her bag of things. Manding gives it back to them and Elias is sad.
~ Marina tells Sheila that Victoria looks nice, but is different and it’s like she’s hiding something. She also explains that she was uncomfortable when she looks at you because it’s like she’s looking at your soul. Sheila tells her that if she’s going to do something like that again, she has to tell her so that she can go with her. Sheila tells her that while she was gone, someone gave her a dinner invitation. Marina denies to go if it’s the scuba divers, but Sheila says that it’s actually Esther, who wants to say goodbye and ask for forgiveness, so she wants them to have dinner later that night.
~ Victoria tells Dugong that she had a visitor and she didn’t like what she was feeling. Dugong asks what she means. She explains that she’s strong and not an ordinary person. Dugong asks what’s her name. She tells it that she is the new owner of the resort, Marina, and asks if she's heard her name. Dugong says not yet, but her name is pretty. Victoria doesn’t understand why Marina’s smell is different. Dugong sees Luna is coming, so she hides back into the water. Luna tells her that it’s time to eat.
~ It’s a full moon later that night, and Marina is feeling weird. Sheila asks her what’s happening and if she’s going to have dinner with Esther. She says that she wanted to go, but she feels sick. Sheila thinks she has a fever. Marina doesn’t understand why she’s so hot right now. Sheila offers to call a doctor, but Marina says that she’s going to go outside to get some air.
~ Pilar tells the maids to put the luggage in the car. She calls Esther and tells her that everything is ready. Esther asks her if Marina has agreed to have dinner with them, but Pilar tells her that Sheila told her that she’s not going to go because she feels sick.
~ Victoria tells Luna that Marina came over. She asks what she said and gets worried if her mother did anything to her, like fighting with her. Victoria asks why would she fight with her since there’s no reason to. She tells her to remember that whoever she becomes close with, she’s the only who’s going to be there for her in the end. So she advises her to be wise on who to choose as friends, and not to choose friends who can’t go against her power.
~ Marina goes to the beach and starts coughing. She starts to become out of breath. She doesn’t know what’s happening. She collapses on the sand behind a boat. She starts to worry and looks at the full moon.
~ Carlitos wants Isabel to be his girlfriend, but she tells him later. He worries that she isn’t going to write, but she promises she will. They all get out of the house. Pilar asks Esther where she’s going. She says that she wants to see the ocean for one last time. Raphael offers to go with her, but she says that she can do it by herself and that she will be quick. Meanwhile, Marina knows something is wrong with her feet. She wonders why this is happening. She can’t believe that her feet has turned into a mermaids tail. She breaks down and says that this isn’t possible. Esther goes outside. Marina starts hitting her tail. Esther hears her crying, and goes behind the boat. She sees Marina. She knows that she is her daughter and says “Cristina.” Marina looks up with tears in her eyes...

Mulawin is famous in our country!!! Lots of people idolize "Aguiluz" and "Alwina". Anyway, the acting is OK and the story is totally catchy. It revolves around Alwina and Aguiluz (pronounced as A-gee-luz), two young Mulawins on a quest to find the Mulawin Tree. When she finds it, it will restore balance to the world. But, of course, there are baddies. Those are the Ravena. They were ex-Mulawins who revolted. The queen, Vultra, is the most feared of all. Aside from the Mulawins and the Ravenas, there are Pelicos, which are silly, parrot-like half-man, half-birds. Also, Diwatas and Encantadas, which are fairies and Musangs, creatures who look like lions. The Pelicos, Diwatas, Encantadas and Musangs are on the Mulawins' side, so I'm sure they will win!!!

Encantadia

Encantadia video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RK8MmfB7lHI

An enchanting new world opens in GMA’s new telefantasya: Encantadia

Prepare to enter and journey through the enchanting realm of Encantadia—a magical world divided into four kingdoms: Adamya, home of the Adamyans; Sapiro, land of the Sapiryans; Lireo, realm of the Diwatas; and Hathoria, domain of the Hathors. The peace and balance in Encantadia rest on the power of four precious stones—the gemstones of water, earth, wind, and fire.

Directed by Mark Reyes and Gil Tejada, Jr., Encantadia will bring viewers to a completely different world—a world of powerful fairies, brave warriors, lovable and mythical creatures, and ferocious fiends. This grand production showcases Filipino creativity and ingenuity at its best, from the set to the costumes, props, and the fantastic story itself. GMA’s brilliant production team painstakingly created the elaborate world of Encantadia, from the grand throne room and place of worship in Lireo to the dark and dismal domain of Hathoria. The costumes, makeup, and props are colorful and intricately designed. It will also be the first production to make use of animated puppets.

Encantadia (Telefantasya)

by

Mahiwagang Puso
-ENCANTADIA theme

Hindi sapat ang isang awitin
Kahit tapat man ang damdamin
At kulang pang magpaalipin sa’yo giliw

Kunin ko man lahat ng mga tala
Sa akin ay di ka dapat maawa
Higit pa riyan ang aking gagawin
Upang iyong dinggin

Chorus:
Ulan man o bagyo
Lindol ng mundo
Ang sigaw ng bulkan
Pipigilin ko, pipigilin ko
Binigyan mo ako ng mahiwagang puso
Tatahakin lahat mapatunayan lang
Ang pag-ibig ko sa’yo

Di man kaibigan ang tadhana
Dinala ka ng iyong paghamak
Sa di mapapantayang hangarin kong ibigin ka

Chorus

Ang sigaw ng bulkan
Pipigilin ko kung ibigin mo
Binigyan mo ako ng mahiwagang puso
Tatahakin lahat mapatunayan lang
Ang pag-ibig ko sa’yo

The Overwhelming Water

No element is far more overwhelming than water. That of which can both give and take away life. Alena (Karylle), the 3rd among the warrior princess holds the Gem Of Water

The Nurturing Earth

Danaya (Diana Zubiri) is the youngest of the four, yet she is the fiercest. She guards the Gem of Earth, a huntress in her own right. What key does she holds in this magical saga?

The Unbridled Wind

Iza Calzado dons the cloak of "Amihan", the vernacular term for the easterly winds- that which is calm and soothing. She holds the power to control the power of wind and weather. Trapped in a love triangle with a mortal Ibarro and her own sister. Would she win the heart of the man she loved?

The Raging Fire

"Pirena" is a vernacular translation of Fire, the raging fury of envy, the symbol of hatred. Pirena(Sunshine Dizon) holds the Gem Of Fire. Being the eldest, Pirena is naturally the epitome of pride, jealousy and hatred. What does fates hold for the eldest of the four warrior princess?

Kampanerang Kuba

Kampanerang Kuba

video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzrDeR24kko

Teleserye fanatics have another reason to stay glued to their television sets on weekdays as ABS-CBN presents a classic fantasy for the entire family, Kampanerang Kuba

Based on the classic silver screen tale by brilliant writer Pablo S. Gomez, which was brought to life by movie legend now Lipa City Mayor Vilma Santos, Kampanerang Kuba’s television incarnation has been updated and re-imagined in a way television viewers have never seen before — as a drama, fantasy and musical all rolled into one.

Kampanerang Kuba’s all-star cast is led by Anne Curtis, Eula Valdes, Jean Garcia, Jomari Yllana, Jodi Santamaria, Christian Bautista, Patrick Garcia and Luis Manzano.

Kampanerang Kuba is the touching story of Fatima (Anne Curtis), nicknamed Imang, a young woman whose physical deformities never stopped her from being kind, cheerful and full of hope. She was raised in a convent by strict doting nuns, whose kindness she pays back by being of service around the convent — as the kampanerang (bell-ringer) of the convent’s church.

But Imang’s story does not begin there — not with her mysterious connection to sisters Lourdes (Eula Valdez) and Lucia (Jean Garcia), who belong to one of the richest families in Imang’s town.

What binds Imang to the sisters? Is it Lourdes domineering husband Martin (Jomari Yllana)? Lucia’s husband Antonio (Yul Servo)? Or Lourdes and Martin’s ill-tempered daughter Veronica (Jodi Santamaria)? Or is it that fateful night when Lourdes and Lucia gave birth at the same time?

Watch the mysteries unfold one by one as Kampanerang Kuba airs weeknights on ABS-CBN.

Also in the cast of Kampanerang Kuba are Bobot Mortiz, Cherrie Pie Picache, Malou de Guzman, Meryll Soriano, Eugene Domingo and Chokoleit. Musical sequences and original songs were created specially for the show by composer and lyricist Vince de Jesus, whose prior works as musical director include the score of films like Crying Ladies and La Visa Loca. Wenn Deramas and Andoy Ranoy, who first collaborated on the top-rating and pioneering fantaserye Marina, return for directing duties in Kampanerang Kuba

Etheria

by

video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bbvMvu1PPw

Etheria is a Filipino fantasy television series that was produced by GMA Network. The full title of the series is Etheria: Ang Ikalimang Kaharian ng Encantadia (Adamya: The Fifth Kingdom of Encantadia), referring to Encantadia, its highly successful predecessor series. Etheria ran for 50 episodes from December 12, 2005 to February 17, 2006, and then gave way to the telefantasya franchise's next incarnation Encantadia: Pag-ibig Hanggang Wakas, which began to air the following Monday, February 20.

The setting takes place before the events in Encantadia thus it may be considered as a prequel to Encantadia. Although, it is technically a sequel, a continuation of the story of the Encantadia series, because the story plot of Etheria starts with the four elemental Sang'gres (Pirena, Amihan, Alena and Danaya) and Ybarro going back in time when Etheria was in its full glory.

Majika

by

video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acPc0Z1pj7E

Saladin is a fascinating world where magic is a way of life. Through the new TV series Majika, this supernatural universe of spells, charms, potions and other magical activities will hold viewers under its spell. In Saladin transpires the tale of Sabina and Argo, salamangkans played by two of the country’s youngest superstars, Angel Locsin and Dennis Trillo. As we enter their world, we become witnesses to their quest for self-discovery as they decipher and make use of their magical powers, and understand why love is the greatest magic of all.

Dennis and Angel arrive at the Majika press conference riding on stallions. Their grand entrance is preceded by a parade of sorts, with various characters in Arabian Nights- and Harry Potter-inspired costumes. Kitchie Nadal sings the theme songs she composed. After the speeches and thank yous, members of the cast situate themselves in specified areas for the five-minute interviews with each reporter. A buss on the cheek from Angel and a firm handshake from Dennis, then we proceed.

“Honestly, we don’t know,” reacts Angel, when asked about the source of the apparent chemistry between her and her leading man. “When we work together, it’s really all work. We give what is expected of us so that the scenes will come out very well. It helps that we remain good friends and he is also a very good actor. ”

“We’re very comfortable with each other,” Dennis adds.

To prepare for their roles, the two took horse-back riding lessons. “I still have two-sessions remaining,” Dennis shares.

Angel throws in, “I trained for five days — three-hour-long, horse-back riding classes with Ms. Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski. I really don’t ride horses because I’m afraid of them. Initially, I was fretful but I know I cannot do the exercises if I allow my fear to overwhelm me. And I respect Ate Mikee a lot. I really want people to see that I know how to ride the horse.

“Aside from the physical demands that the role requires, I am changing the way I act here. In Mulawin, I play the role of a provincial lass that learns to fight in the end. In Darna, I was a super heroine. Somehow, I have absorbed that role so I must take her out of my system to give justice to Sabina.”

“People will watch (the show) because (it) is something new,” Trillo comments. “We are doing the best we can to flesh out and make the uniqueness of this fantasy-series come to life. Somehow, I think it’s very Disney-esque, very magical. The storyline is very light and it’s not as violent compared to the other shows on air right now. As an actor, it offers bigger challenges and we hope the viewers see that. Aside from riding horses, I am learning archery because the bow-and-arrow is Argo’s primary weapon. Working out regularly with my trainer and watching what I eat is a must because as you see, my costume is very revealing,” he says.

The two are of the same opinion that Majika is not a rip-off of Harry Potter and The Legend of Narnia, but unique in itself. The similarity lies in its integration of magic, which is crucial to the plot.

The Paters are members of Saladin’s Council of Elders. They are led by Balkan (Eddie Gutierrez), the most powerful Salamangkan. Other members are Malko (Nanding Josef), the Pater of levitation; Dibin (Gabe Mercado), the Pater of magic potions; and Aduro (Jaime Fabregas ), the Pater of beasts and creatures. The last three share their insights about this world of Majika.

“The Paters make sure that the powerful dark lord Markadan (Eddie Garcia) remains in prison, for his escape will be a threat to the peaceful existence of Saladin,” says Josef. “I can control gravity here and make things and people literally float.”

Gabe, on the other hand, is, “the most junior of the Paters and the most kind-hearted one...” He explains, “Most of them are really experienced magicians so I’m still in the process of learning the extent of my (abilities). Dibin is very light and a quite animated.”

“It will let us remember the kid in us,” relates Fabregas on what makes this show unique. “We should never forget that at one point in our lives, we were all kids. The characters here are mischievous; sometimes they’re super playful to the point of being naughty. Some will get hurt, but it’s not something that is intentional. Nothing is dark or totally evil here. A lot of good and positive stuff is offered for children here.”

If they do possess such magic in real life, how would they use it? Josef says, “Instead of making someone levitate, can I just make someone sink instead? If I’ve got powers, people who cheat, people who are corrupt are the first ones na dapat madyikin.”

“I wish I can make a potion for courage and a potion to see beyond yourself,” replies Mercado. “Everybody should drink these two potions so that they can see what is really happening in this country. I also want to create a potion for love. The love that will give you the conscience not to hurt, not to cheat, not to belittle another person.”

And for Fabregas: “I want to people to have wisdom, this is what we lack. There are a lot of intelligent and smart people. Yung intelligence, diyan pumapasok ang kalechehan at kagaguhan! But wisdom, there are just a few men and women who have it. With wisdom comes sympathy, with wisdom comes justice, with wisdom comes loves. With wisdom, you will treat your fellowmen with common decency.”

... with Jake

“Terman is a friend of Argo and Ebrio (Polo Ravales), and I was raised to become a good salamangkero,” says Jake Cuenca of his character. “I am the most determined to be the best among the three of us. It’s a very challenging role. I love it. It’s different from the soap roles I have done in the past. Most of my characters are gray or are really bad men. Now, I am one of the good ones. In the latter part of the show I will also fall for Sabina, much to dismay of Sara (Ryza Cenon). Sabina is the hottest of them all, I guess.”

How did he train for the role? “During the training for the fight scenes, I almost broke my ankle so I had to rest for two weeks. So, when I was resting, I attended the acting workshops with Ms. Gina Alajar (who plays Adana) and you know what, it was so intense. To the point that after the workshop, you get really tired, stressed-out and frustrated. Then, I’d go frequently the gym. I cannot gain weight because of my costume. I enjoy wearing the costume because it’s easier to get the feel of the role when you’re in it. Pati pagtayo mo nag-iiba.

“I hope a lot of people will enjoy this show, especially the kids. After all they are the ones who get thrilled by the costumes, magic, horses and fun adventure. We hope we make them happy, and they will also learn the lessons we impart,” ends Jake.

Majika is directed by Eric Quizon and Mac Alejandre with RJ Nuevas as head writer and Don Michael Perez (creator of Mulawin) as creative consultant. It airs weeknights in GMA-7’s primetime Telebabad Block starting tonight, March 20.

Sugo

by

video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mstugRpj1Lk

Sugo (Filipino for "Chosen One" or "Messenger") is an action-adventure primetime television series produced by GMA Network. It premiered in the Philippines in June 2005.

The series is created by GMA Network, which also produced other hit fantasy-themed series (telefantasya) such as Encantadia, Mulawin and Darna. Sugo combines fantasy, action, adventure, comedy and drama elements. GMA hired international action choreographer Wong Wai Fai and other Hong Kong martial arts experts to make the stunts more believable. Wong choreographed stunts in movies such as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Kung Fu Hustle, Rush Hour 2 and Bulletproof Monk. The series aired in GMA's weeknight primetime block and was a top rater in its time slot according to AGB ratings.

Sugo stars heartthrob Richard Gutierrez playing the twins Miguel and Amante. Joe Chen, a Taiwanese actress plays a role in the series and is one of the leading ladies of Gutierrez. Chynna Ortaleza and newcomer Isabel Oli and are also Gutierrez's love interests.

Sugo’s story is anchored on the ancient belief that life’s existence lies on the battle between two tribes — the forces of Karag-ayan and the forces of the Binhi-lan — signifying Yin-Yang.

The story first takes place somewhere in the 16th century, when the Philippines is in its first years of Spanish rule and natives are slowly embracing the Christian faith. Though the Spaniards get many of the natives to convert with ease, some stubbornly stick to their original religion. One is Apo Abukay, a ruthless, ambitious and domineering chieftain of his own tribe. Because he believes that the God of Darkness he worships will grant him wealth and power, he sees the Spanish evangelists as a threat to his tribe's way of life. He then starts an attack on the Church, killing as many priests and lay people as he can get his hands on.

Eventually the fledgling Philippine Church gets worried, and they hold a meeting in which one of them brings in a rich yet blind Spaniard named Conde Vergonze. This clergyman promises everyone present that his companion will help get rid of Apo Abukay. The pair are met with laughs at first because they do not believe that someone blind can help them rout a murderous native. But these laughs are quelled when Vergonze demonstrates his skill.

Soon Vergonze goes on to destroy Apo Abukay's tribe and Apo Abukay himself. One of the last he kills are Apo Abukay's wife and their newborn daughter. Thinking that his work is done, he exits the tribe's hideout.

Unbeknownst to him, one of the tribe's elders survives the massacre. This particular elder realizes that the chieftain's dead wife still has another undelivered baby in her womb. He delivers the baby girl and thanks his god that they, at least, have survived.

His daughter is not the only thing that Apo Abukay leaves behind. He also leaves behind a prophecy: over the course of several generations, a blood ritual will be conducted by his descendants, now called the Binhi-lan, which involves the blood of the firstborn female in that generation. There are two ceremonies to be conducted over the course of the female's (the "alay", or "sacrifice") life: once right after birth, and once on her eighteenth birthday. In a particular generation, the cycle will end and Apo Abukay will finally be resurrected, allowing him to continue his grand design and spread darkness across the land.

But then there will be a "sugo" (literally, "he who is sent") that will be sent to kill the "alay" and stop Apo Abukay from ever resurrecting. The sugo will come from the line of Conde Vergonze, now called the Karag-Ayan, and he is the first-born male in that generation. For centuries, it seems, the two clans have been playing a game of cat-and-mouse: while the Karag-Ayan try to find the Alay, the Binhi-Lan try to hide in order to protect the Sacrifice and conduct their ritual in peace.

Amidst this century-long struggle blossoms an unparalleled love between Karag-ayan Amelia (Lorna Tolentino) and the Binhi-lan Rodolfo (Jestoni Alarcon). Though they know about each other's ancestry, they don't seem to care about the fact that their families are mortal enemies and fall in love with each other. However, Amelia's father, the Sugo for that generation, tries to break up their relationship. Having enough of the family feud, the two decide to elope.

In a hut in some undisclosed location, Rodolfo watches Amelia give birth and witnesses the birth of their first baby boy. The former, however, begins to grieve because he thinks his loved one has died in childbirth. Later, Rodolfo's brother catches up and a shootout occurs wherein Rodolfo is accidentally killed. He then takes the newborn boy and raises it as his own son, names him Amante and plans to make him the guardian for the Alay.

The viewers later learn that Amelia is in fact alive and delivers another baby boy, whom she names Miguel. She looks around and is shocked to find that her love is on the floor, dead. She flees the hut, taking her baby along with her.

Meanwhile, Guillermo, a Binhi-Lan, is upset because the woman of his dreams, Graciella, marries his brother instead of him, despite the fact that they [Graciella and Guillermo] were childhood friends. In spite of this he seems not to harbor any ill feelings toward his brother and maintains a friendly relationship with his love interest.

When Graciella gives birth to a baby girl, the would-be Alay, she refuses for her baby to participate in the blood ritual. Guillermo volunteers to help by disguising himself as medical personnel and getting a blood sample of the baby in the nursery, allowing Graciella to flee with her baby while he comes home with the blood sample and another baby. Later on as Graciella nurses her daughter, an elderly woman passes by and claims that the baby belongs to HER own daughter and tries to pry it off Graciella, to no avail. Still later on the same old woman accosts her as Graciella leaves the hospital in a wheelchair, claiming still that the baby Graciella cuddles in her arms is her daughter's.

When Guillermo arrives home, his brothers confront him and he invents a story that Graciella ran away, leaving him with the baby. The brothers decide to take the fake Alay in and name her Rebecca.

A boat accident separates Graciella from her baby, and the old woman who was badgering her earlier discovered the baby and brought it home with her, naming it Isabella. Graciella regains consciousness and performs a frantic search for her missing daughter. She ends up in a car accident wherein she loses her memory and is taken in by the man who ran her over.

Amelia, in the meantime, finds shelter with a kindly old woman named Merced. Her son Miguel grows into a lively young boy during their stay at Merced's, but mother and son are separated when Miguel finds his way to his grandmother's house. Like Graciella, Amelia performs a frantic and fruitless search for her young boy.

A scene from Sugo

Miguel soon begins to lose eyesight. Soon he is completely blind and is the butt of jokes made by his arrogant cousin, Adan. Adan, along with his father, believes that he deserves the honor of being called the Sugo, especially because Miguel is blind and incapable of defending himself. When a family friend, a kindly old priest named Father Francis comes to call, Adan's father points out what he has been claiming all along. Father Francis agrees to take Miguel into his orphanage.

Life at the orphanage is a far cry from life at the mansion. Here Miguel is not teased for being blind or mocked for being weak; here he makes friends and is taught the art of self-defense by Father Francis. He learns to use his ears as his eyes, so to speak, and quickly identifies people and things just by using his heightened sense of hearing; he even learns how to play basketball exceptionally well using his hearing.

Over the years, Miguel sheds his innocent, shy defenseless image and becomes kind and generous and lighthearted and strong. He is fun-loving, loves to play with the younger kids at the orphanage, steal food from the pantry, and he loves to play basketball as well. Despite that easygoing nature, he is a skilled fighter and he is deemed dangerous by his many opponents, excluding, of course, Adan, who is still as cocky as ever after all these years and still looks down on his cousin despite the fact that Miguel is as good a fighter as he. Miguel falls in love with a childhood friend; Isabella, who, ironically is the same woman he is supposed to kill.

His adventure begins when he meets Mei Li (Joe Chen), a Taiwanese student who is staying in the Philippines from an important mission. She gives him a bracelet, a special one, something of Apo Abukay's, and the Karag-ayan thank her profusely for giving it to them, promising they will deal with it best as they can.

Meanwhile, Amante grows up conceited and arrogant. He is rich, powerful, and has access to high-tech gadgetry and powerful weapons. Unlike his twin, he is dark, moody and cold. Though Rebecca, who grows up spoiled and rebellious, always pleads for his attention, begs her to love him, he always tells her that he is tasked to guard her and nothing else. When he meets Isabella, though, he develops a romantic interest in her, which can only mean more trouble.

The twins will be tasked to fulfill separate but related missions. Amante’s mission is to protect the alay (offering) whose blood is the only key to awakening Apo Abukay (Gardo versoza), the Binhi-lan ancient tribal mummy buried in a hidden labyrinth deep in the mountains. Apo Abukay used to be a powerful chieftain who abused his powers, and his awakening would signal the reign of darkness on earth. On the other hand, Miguel must kill the alay, who comes from the bloodline of Apo Abukay, before the dreaded awakening occurs.

(This story is still running its course, but the article will be added to as it progresses.)

Sa Dulo Ng Walang Hanggan [Eternal Point]

by gergoz

Sa Dulo Ng Walang Hanggan [EternalPoint]

[Story]
Sa Dulo Ng Walang Hanggan is the best soap opera ever produced in the Philippines. Teleserye at its best. This show has the best set of cast to date. From Claudine Barretto to Dennis Trillo to Kaye Abad. Everyone was brilliant especially Mylene Dizon (Sally Conception). Mylene was the best villain in this soap. We all loved to hate her. The main plot and subplots were all interesting. All actors (movie and theater) in this soap were really good. This is Wenn Deramas' best work ever. KEiko Aquino and Rondel Lindayag and all writers were really brilliant in organizing the plots. from 1912 to 2001. Superb. If ABS-CBN will air this soap again, I would watch every single episode. Although not all characters resolved their issues at the end, the last episode was still worth watching. Very touching finale.

Hanggang Sa Dulo Ng Walang Hanggan

Sung by Zsa Zsa Padilla

Hanggang sa dulo ng walang hanggan
hanggang matapos ang kailan pa man
ikaw ang s'yang mamahalin
at lagi ng sasambahin
manalig kang 'di ka na luluha giliw

At kung sadyang
s'ya na ang 'yong mahal
asahan mong ako'y di hahadlang
habang ikaw ay maligaya
ako'y maghihintay maging
hanggang sa dulo ng
walang hanggan

IS TJ TRINIDAD THE NEXT TELESERYE PRINCE?

by

As Richard Gutierrez kindle the
magic of fantaseryes, a new prince charming from
tinsel town is vying to revive the Filipinos’ delight
for melodrama.

He is TJ Trinidad, a leading man on the rise as he was
given another boost in his three-year-old showbiz
career—becoming the love interest of soap opera
princess Kristine Hermosa in the remake of the
historical teleserye Gulong ng Palad.

“Acting is my no. 1 priority. It’s a passion of mine,”
said TJ who plays Carding, a spoiled rich kid and
mama’s boy who fell in love with Kristine’s character,
Luisa.

“But the role I play in the soap is very far from who
I am in reality,” he pointed out.

TJ, or Raul in real life, got his doses in acting from
the TV commercials he did since he was 10. San Miguel
Beer, Head & Shoulders, Nescafé, Swatch, and PLDT are
just some of the products he endorsed.

Coincidentally, becoming a staple in boob-tube
advertisements is one of the things he shares with a
long-time crush—the queen of commercials
herself—Sharon Cuneta.

“When I was a kid, I used to believe that I was the
Megastar’s Mr. DJ,” he confessed, further saying that
working with the 1998 Box Office Queen and Grand Slam
Best Actress is one of his much-awaited fancies.

From minute TV appearances, TJ’s craving for more
acting stints started to steer. His training grounds
were the amateur theater performances he made to raise
funds for a parish in Alabang.

During his college years, this football and tennis
aficionado concentrated on being the frontman of his
band Mofo, alongside earning his B.S. Commerce Major
in Marketing degree from De La Salle University.

Like any young bachelor, TJ practiced a corporate
career after college, but after the three companies in
which he worked were padlocked, the half-Norwegian,
half-Spanish heartthrob decided to track down his
childhood calling.

Through the help of family friend Edu Manzano, TJ was
introduced into showbiz via June Rufino, his present
manager.

“I never planned anything. As long as I’m acting, I’m
happy,” TJ told his fans in an online forum. “I let my
manager do the planning for me. I never compromise my
principles for the sake of popularity or advancing my
career.”

For his talent and sincerity, TJ impressed director
Jerry Sineneng and another co-director, making him win
a spot in Judy Ann Santos’ heart as John Paul in the
defunct action-drama series, Basta’t Kasama Kita.

As he put it: “Any actor of any caliber would count
himself lucky to even be mentioned in the same breath
as Judy Ann.”

Nevertheless, TJ’s fortune as the on-screen lover of
one of this generation’s premier actresses multiplied
two-fold. In Gulong ng Palad, He was not only matched
with another actress of the likes of Judy Ann. This
time, he handles the lead role.

“I can’t name the difference between Juday and Tin.
They’re both hardworking and talented. They have
different ways of approaching acting. Both are also
fun to work with and are good kissers,” he told in an
interview.

Since he only met Kristine through an audition for the
soap, TJ, as of press time, does not feel that he
could be Tin’s real-life darling, just like what
happened in the previous lovebirds who graced the
foremost Gulong sequels.

“I will not court a girl who’s already committed,” he
firmly said. “Tin and I are only friends, for now.”

He, however, did not discount the fact that he enjoyed
doing the honeymoon scene with his leading lady,
together with his first crying scene, which he
surprisingly got during the first take.

“My whole experience in making the drama series is
memorable,” he melodiously said. “Every scene and take
is a new learning experience for me.”

Andrea del Rosario, who plays the thorn between lovers
Luisa and Carding, reckons her working (and smooching)
experience with TJ and another co-star, Rico Barrera.
“TJ kisses better than Rico,” she said, proudly
stating that she christened Rico’s lips. “Maybe it’s
because TJ is more veteran than the other.”

Indeed, TJ and the cast were able to reawaken the
nostalgia of the old Gulong ng Palad, according to
Loida Virginia, original writer of the series.

“The actors of the Gulong ng Palad today have equaled
the performance of the past actors of the first
version,” she declared.

Could this success signal TJ’s turn to trudge the path
toward becoming an in-demand leading man?

As of the moment, TJ still feels that he has not
fitted yet in Piolo Pascual’s or Jericho Rosales’
shoes.

“I want to be like Piolo in terms of
talent, not popularity,” he stressed.

Like his idol, TJ would also want to be in a tandem
with young, celebrated actresses like Bea Alonzo,
Claudine Barretto, and Heart Evangelista. Nonetheless,
he believed that “hard work and dedication are the
keys to success and not whom you’re paired up with.”

For TJ, who pledged loyalty to the Kapamilya camp,
Gulong is just one of the many opportunities that he
is excited to get his hands on. But for ABS-CBN, which
is again wooing its audience to go back to their
melodrama grassroots, TJ is a face of hope.

Gulong Ng Palad [Wheel ofLife]

by sweet honesty

[story]
The much loved soap opera of the late 70s, Gulong ng Palad is making a comeback, modernized but the story of true love defying all odds still remains. With a stellar cast led by Kristine Hermosa, TJ Trinidad, Luis Alandy, Cherie Gil and Rio Locsin to only name a few will surely have you riveted to your screens.

The story of Luisa and Carding unfold once more to the delight of the soap’s old fans and hopefully would capture the interest of new generation teleserye followers. The two star crossed lovers played by Kristine and TJ will bring back the good old days of Gulong ng Palad which was first a radio drama in 1949 then was made into a movie and a TV series in 1977. The classic story line of rich kid love poor girl will surely reach out and touch the hearts of audiences again.

Other artists to look out for are love teams Joross Gamboa, Roxanne Guinoo, Hazel Ann Mendoza, Mhyco Aquino plus sexy villainess Andrea Del Rosario and Nash Aguash reprising the role of the very cute Peping. Intended to run for 20 weeks, catch Gulong ng Palad every night starting this Monday, January 9 only from the station who gives you the country’s top notch teleseryes ABS-CBN.

The current Gulong ng Palad is a third generation soap which originally saw light on radio in 1949. Written by Lina Flor (Carolina Flores who later became Mrs. Koko Trinidad) who was a radio talent and a Daily Mirror columnist (Sundries), it was a daily 15-minute series on the air over DZRH.

Among the radio talents in the cast then, Loida Viriña -- Lina Flor’s sister -- who voiced the role of Luisa.

After it ended as a radio serial in 1956, Gulong ng Palad became a popular series in 1977 up to 1984 on Banahaw Broadcasting 2.

This time with Lina Flor having died, Loida Viriña became the soap’s writer. They took in an established star Marianne de la Riva to play the role of Luisa and Caridad Sanchez to play her mother Idad and new child actor Romnick Sarmenta to be the young boy, Peping.

Established performers made up the rest of the cast: Augusto Victa as the father Tomas, Tita de Villa as Donya Menang while Beth Bautista as Mimi.

It was the network’s wish to take in a new actor to play the male lead, Carding opposite Marianne de la Riva. I remember that many took part and the auditions stretched to weeks.

My friend Toto Confesor, in between his involvement in Kahirup ball and projects of the Ilonggos, was helping then the brothers Ronald and James Corveau. They brought them for auditions.

A week later, Ronald was asked to report to the set for taping to the excitement of Toto. Gulong ng Palad made him an instant star.

In fact, the soap changed the lives of Marianne and Ronald, the Luisa and Carding of Gulong ng Palad.

After taping one evening, they just got lost. They eloped and got married to the shock of their families…and media.

The first Gulong lasted for seven years on DZRH radio. The next Gulong, on TV two decades later, lasted for seven years (1977 to 1984) on BBC2.

***

Now after almost 22 years, the third generation Gulong ng Palad with ABS-CBN calling the shots, with Loida Viriña being creative consultant.

No one from the old soap has been taken as part of the cast. Moreover, the story has been upgraded and expanded to include other characters. To be in keeping with the times, they point out.

Jerome Pobocan and Erick Salud direct with Kristine Hermosa (Luisa), TJ Trinidad (Carding), Rio Locsin (Idad), Joel Torre (Tomas), Cherie Gil (Menang), Andrea del Rosario (Mimi), Joross Gamboa (Totoy), Hazel Ann Mendoza (Nene), Nash Aguas (Peping), Tuesday Vargas (Saling) and Raquel Villavicencio (Carmela, Mimi’s mother).

GULONG NG PALAD
By Jerome Salas

Kung minsan ang takbo ng buhay mo
Pagdurusa nito'y walang hanggan
Wag kang manimdim ang buhay ay
Gulong ng palad, gulong ng palad

Ang may kapal marunong tumingin
sa taong naghirap at nasawi
bawat isang gabi ay mayroong
isang umaga, isang umaga

Chorus:

Gulong ng palad
ang buhay ay
gulong ng palad
ang kandungan
ang kapalaran
kung minsan ay
nasa ilalim (2x) /ibabaw

(Instrumental)

bawat isang gabi ay mayroong
isang umaga, isang umaga

Repeat chorus

Kung minsan ang takbo ng buhay mo

wag kang manimdim ang buhay ay

Vietnamese Phim Bo : Blouse Trang (White Blouse)

by

Faces of Vietnamese Phim Bo that's Vietnamese language for Drama/Series.

Blouse Trang (White Blouse), is a 70-part TV series which portrays the lives of doctors and nurses in a general hospital. In particular, the show follows the challenges and conflicts faced by three talented young doctors: Thanh, Hung, and Thy Oanh.

All three are ambitious and work to realise professional success by following different paths, but share a common realisation that their most important duty is saving people’s lives.

"Blouse Trang is a story of modern youngsters who work hard to earn a living and progress rapidly in their careers," said the series’ director, Tran My Ha.

Ha says his series is a message for Vietnamese youngsters who sometimes forget traditional values in the pursuit of money and career status. "I believe young viewers can learn valuable lessons from the show and its characters," said Ha.

The script for the series was written by Nguyen Manh Tuan, a popular screenplay writer. Tuan and Ha worked together to adapt the screenplay for TV.

"Our story is a real story," Ha said, adding that he and Tuan spent nearly two years writing the script.

Lauded as one of the country’s most talented directors, Ha has attracted large youth audiences for previous films such as Giua Dong (Mid Stream) and Ong Ca Ho (Mr Ca Ho).

"Many critics are concerned that Vietnamese audiences prefer foreign movies over local ones. But I believe that with our quality films, we will attract movie fans, despite the domination of Korean and Chinese films," Ha said.

Before making Blouse Trang, Ha asked the actors to visit two inner-city hospitals.

"I wanted the film to reflect the true lives of doctors. They are ordinary people who must work like superman to care for their patients."

"I want Blouse Trang to be a realistic story. I hope real-life doctors can see themselves in the film."

He explained that doctors differ in personality, lifestyle and age, but they all share the same dedication to helping people.

"We contacted many doctors, particularly young doctors and nurses in the city. This way we could understand their lives and the hardships they face. Their energy and talent made a strong impression on us," said Tuyet Thu, who plays Thy Oanh.

"I love this series, and my role. Through my work, I can learn about different experiences and feel confident and powerful in finding my true path," she said.

Tuyet Thu is particularly enthusiastic about a scene in which Thy Oanh’s boyfriend ends their relationship because he thinks that she loves her patients more than she loves him.

"Thy Oanh cries that medicine is her destiny and becoming a doctor is her role and her duty," Thu explained. "Thy Oanh faces trials that only doctors like her can understand. She devotes her all time to caring for her patients. I hope everyone will understand the difficulties that female doctors like Thy Oanh face."

Malaysian tvDrama :Manjalara

by

Telenovela garapan pertama Khabir dilihat seperti meniru bulat-bulat Mi Gorda Bella (My Sweet Valentine).

SYNOPSIS

[AKASIA MANJA LARA] Everyone who knows the young Manja loves her. Her beautiful spirit and sweet disposition make up for her less-than-perfect physical appearance. Just when fate seems about to smile on her, tragedy takes her mother’s life and Manja is forced to live under the hateful grip of her Uncle’s menacing wife, Sahara who endeavors to rob her of her inheritance.

Fate’s grim sense of humor then shoots Cupid arrow as Manja falls in love with her cousin, Eskandar who is the only one in the family apart from her uncle, who treats her well. Bravo for South Korean Drama

by

I find Korean dramas really well produced with lots of good production skills in terms of clothes, fashion, lighting, scenery, landscapes, and very high on sentimentality. Chinese dramas -- you'll have to differentiate between the ones produced in main China or Taiwan.

It's good to improve technical production in the telenovelas, isn't it?

I get to watch a couple of Filipino soaps here too, and so far, they have nothing to do with the Korean/chinese nor the latin american novelas...in terms of production technicalities.

All soap operas have the same stories no matter what their nationality.... simply love, hatred, lust, revenge, sacrifice... what else can there be??

Mula Sa Puso (From The Heart)

by brown monkey

Mula Sa Puso (From The Heart)

[Story]
The television series that have inspired and touched the lives of millions of Filipinos for the last three years, Mula Sa Puso is the classic tale of the struggle between good and evil, truth versus lies and deceit, kindness in the face of greed. It is also the story of an overpowering love that defies the boundaries set by an intolerant society, a love that refuses to be destroyed by hatred equal in its intensity. At the center of this is Via (Claudine Barretto), raised like a princess, prepared and pampered for the role she will ultimately take as the heiress to the banking empire her father, Fernando Pereira (Juan Rodrigo) built.
The turmoil in Via's life begins when a group of armed men abducts her during her 18th birthday celebration. The would-be kidnappers are about to kill her when Gabriel (Rico Yan) and Warren (Patrick Garcia), hear her screams and come to her rescue. Gabriel saves Via's life. This ignites the romance between Gabriel and Via and reunites Via to Magda (Jaclyn Jose), adoptive mother of Gabriel and Warren and unknown to Via, her real mother. But things would not be easy for the two. First, Via is already engaged to her childhood friend, Michael (Diether Ocampo). Second, her father does not approve of Gabriel because of his hatred towards Magda. Third, Selina (Princess Punzalan), the sinister aunt of Via is obsessed in making her suffer as a form of revenge towards Fernando. Despite the circumstances, Gabriel and Via struggle to keep their love alive. As the story flows, all the complexities arise like a puzzle but in the end all will slowly fall into place and will form the most romantic love story that has touched millions of viewers in television.

[Lyrics]:
MULA SA PUSO (from the heart)
Jude Michael -version

about Philippines Entertainment

by viet boi

Well, philippines entertainment. I saw a few philippines serie and i have to say, compare to HKnese, chinese, taiwanese and korean serie, they still have much rooms for improvement, like story, scenery, acting!(too fake) and voice(i still can´t stand their voices, maybe it is not their faults, but the sound quality is just bad). But i also have to agree, they have improved in some ways, too. But the actors and actresses are pretty.

Well, music industry. I like Christian Bautista Lea Salonga as singer. The others ain´t that good at all.

Teleserye: Information from Answers.com

by gel

Teleserye

For English counter part, see Soap opera. For Mexican Soap opera, see Telenovela.

Teleserye is the local name of produced soap operas in the Philippines, derived from the terms "tele" short for television and serye, ("series"). They can have different sub-genres; they could be melodramatic, fantasy themed (fantaserye), action (action serye), musical (music-serye), or they could be be derived from movies (sineserye).

Teleseryes are produced by the two main Philippine TV networks ABS-CBN, which is Philippine's largest producer and exporter of Teleseryes and, GMA Network,by the independent company TAPE Inc. and by the movie producer VIVA Entertainment.

History

Soap operas in the Philippines originated in radio, then it expanded into television in early 1960's. The first Filipino TV Soap Opera was "Hiwaga sa Bahay na Bato" in 1963 produced by ABS-CBN.

Soap operas in the Phillipines were usually shown during daytime. Among the most popular daytime soap operas then were, Gulong ng Palad, Annaluna, Mara Clara, Annaliza, Aguila and Valiente. But in 1996, soap opera programmimg was move to primetime due to the popularity gained by mexican Telenovela, Marimar, aired on RPN 9. This is the start of telenovela craze in the Philippines.

ABS CBN made the first Filipino Telenovela on primetime, when it shift the timeslot of Mara Clara from it's daytime programmimg to primetime slot. This move was also followed by it's biggest competitor GMA Network.

In 2000, ABS CBN, made a milestone in Philippine Telenovelas when it introduced "Pangako sa 'Yo", which was known to be the first teleserye, and Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay". These teleseryes became a big hit in the Philippines and likewise to other countries.

Again, in 2004 ABS-CBN introduced a new genre of teleserye which mixes soap opera, fantasy, myth, magic and enchantment. This genre was called Fantaserye. Marina was the first fantaserye.Today fantaseryes are the most viewed TV program in the philippines. Recent surveys by media research firms AC Nielsen and AGB state that fantaseryes have the highest ratings in the evening prime time block.

This coming 2007, teleserye and fantaserye production will again be changed. ABS CBN will be introducing the first filipino Sci-fi teleserye which also incorporate anime genre.Rounin will be the first Sci-fi-Anime teleserye in the history of Philippine television.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-j5olgFBsw

Unlike the first season of Star Magic Presents, which presented many stand-alone stories in single episodes, the entire second season of the series is devoted to just one story, with the title Abt Ur Luv.

The story revolves around the lives of four young women -- Neri, Brenda, Celine, and Gwen -- as they experience and fight for true love while they are taking on the challenge of proving to the world that they're full-fledged adults.

Miss Malaysia Carrie Lee: A modern-day Cinderella
By Maridol Rañoa-Bismark
The Philippine Star 02/10/2007

One look at Miss Malaysia 2004 Carrie Lee and you know why Alfred Vargas and LJ Reyes decided to cool off from their relationship. The rumored apple of Alfred’s eyes is not just another pretty face. Her Cinderella story — somewhat akin to another beauty queen, former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres — is for the books.

As a struggling teenager born to a humble family, Carrie had to take on odd jobs just to get by. At 16, she was already working as a waitress and a flower shop staff. At 17, she took on three jobs: for an education software company, a sidewalk café as a waitress, and — on Sunday, her supposed rest day — she modeled for another outfit. Out of her earnings, Carrie not only financed her studies, but that of her brothers’ and sisters’ as well.

Probably because she knows how to handle life’s ups and downs, Carrie was at the receiving end of Lady Luck’s blessings. She was distributing leaflets one day when someone saw her and suggested she join the Miss Malaysia pageant. And, like the magic wardrobe in The Chronicles of Narnia, Carrie stepped into a brand-new world of opportunities and adventures beyond her wildest dreams.

She instantly found a friend in Jackie Chan, whom she met in the Hong Kong airport on their way to a charity project to help the tsunami victims in Indonesia. Carrie also entered Malaysian TV, where she did dramas. She also hosted shows and appeared in a couple of ads not only in Malaysia but also in Hong Kong and Vietnam. This is where her skills in English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Indonesian came in handy.

Fate has never been this kind. Carrie moved out of her humble abode and transferred to more comfortable, spacious quarters. She parlayed her experience as a beauty queen and host to put up her own company. White Fairy — which carries her signature white and pink colors — organizes beauty pageants and other special events.

When she returned to Malaysia from the Philippines where she had a three-week stay recently (she’s back here to tape the soon-to-air GMA afternoon teledrama Muli), Carrie graced the opening of a new branch of her boutique in Kuala Lumpur.

Now that she’s back in the country, Carrie is getting her fair share of intrigues. She’s coy when people ask her the inevitable: Are she and Alfred sweethearts? Ask Alfred, she tells the most curious of reporters.

She has nothing but nice words to describe him though.

"Alfred is handsome, nice and caring. He’ll make an ideal boyfriend," she says.

How can she tell?

"I know by the way he treats people. He treats the rich and the poor equally," she replies.

She showed him around in Malaysia when they went there for some scenes in Muli.

Yes, she admits. Her former boyfriend got jealous of Alfred because his photos happened to be in Carrie’s cellphone. Those photos of them together were taken during their scenes for Muli. But Carrie’s ex didn’t like them any. He promptly deleted them.

Those photos, however, were not the culprits that wrecked havoc in their relationship. It was work. Carrie’s ex, it turns out, didn’t understand her work before the cameras. They come from two different worlds, and never the twain shall meet.

Now Alfred may be steeped in showbiz, but Carrie is mum about the romantic possibilities between them. Give her a break, she has known the guy for only a few months!

He has told her about Boracay and Tagaytay, where Carrie is raring to go, now that she’s on an extended stay here. She’s also getting Filipinized day by day. Carrie admits she adores street food, like dirty ice cream, which she first tasted while taping in Cavite, and the humble taho.

She spent her first three weeks in Manila learning her Tagalog speaking lines in Muli and a smattering of conversational Filipino: "Mahal ko kayo, Kapuso and salamat po," Carrie told visibly amused writers around her.

She’ll learn a lot more as days go by. No, make that several weeks, perhaps months.

Carrie herself is amazed at how she has not felt homesick on any given day she’s in the Philippines. The people are so hospitable and caring, she gushes. And how sinigang and the native crabs make her mouth water!

Best of all, Carrie just can’t get enough of acting. She may have lost her boyfriend along the way, but she has moved on, like she always does.

Carrie Lee is no survivor of life’s school of hard knocks for nothing.

Romantic in a traditional way

Romantic in a traditional way
By Maridol Rañoa-Bismark
The Philippine Star 02/17/2007

Alfred Vargas is such an old-fashioned romantic he’s the type who will fly all the way to New York to meet the parents of LJ Reyes. Any girl would melt at the first sign of devotion such as this. LJ did — of course. But now, their busy schedules are getting in the way. Alfred admits that though they haven’t broken up, he and LJ are in the cool-off stage.

"I have shows (one of them is GMA 7’s new drama series Muli, to premiere Feb. 19 after Daisy Siete on Dramarama sa Hapon). She herself has one. She also has her studies at La Salle, where she’s a dean’s lister and family obligations to attend to," he adds.

It could also be a case of familiarity breeding, not exactly contempt, but irritation. Alfred thinks he and LJ have been together so often the slightest problem between them leads to arguments. And so, before the flame grows into a burning fire, they decided to distance themselves from each other.

It has not reached the point of no return, for sure. Alfred invited LJ to a Valentine dinner with his mom recently. He even marked the occasion by sending LJ a bouquet of roses.

"We’re more relaxed these days," says Alfred, pointing out that the strain in their relationship is gone. With the stress gone, they can each buckle down to their respective work. Which is just as well.

Alfred is foraging into relatively new territory — drama — on Muli. We first saw him in the Seiko sex comedy Bridal Shower and later in Bikini Open. But we have yet to see Alfred show his flair for drama.

This he does as Muli’s Lukas, who leaves his pregnant wife (Marian Rivera) in the custody of his aunt (Odette Khan) to work in Malaysia. There, he bumps into Cheryl (2004 Miss Malaysia Carrie Lee), who is about to marry a man she doesn’t love. And the plot thickens.

Having a Malaysian as leading lady and Malaysians as co-stars and members of the production crew opened Alfred’s eyes to a lot of things.

The first is that the "language barrier is nothing." You can get along famously as long as you respect each other.

For instance, Carrie observes, Alfred has the utmost respect for Pinoy art and culture. She loves Fort Santiago, where they shot one of the scenes (another location is the world-renowned Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur).

"She’s a superstar in Malaysia. I saw her face on billboards. She’s very elegant and regal, to the point that you’d like to offer her a chair as soon as you see her," gushes Alfred.

If Carrie would have a counterpart in the Philippines, he adds, it would be Miriam Quiambao and Precious Lara Quigaman.

The second lesson Alfred learned from his stay in Malaysia while shooting Muli is that "respect, regardless of nationality, can lead to friendship."

The Malaysian crew hired by the production outfit Creasian Sbn Bhd (the teledrama’s producer together with GMA Network) may have shorter working hours a day.

They put in as much as 14 hours per day on the set (Filipinos can work as much as three days straight, without sleeping). The Malaysian crew, as opposed to their Pinoy counterparts, is confined to TV work alone, and doesn’t cross over to the movies. But the Pinoys don’t take this against them.

What’s more important is that they come up with a teleserye that showcases the best of the Philippines and Malaysia, something both countries will be proud of (Muli will also air in Malaysia).

The teleserye has also taught Alfred that, "even if you’ve found your special someone, it’s still destiny that dictates how things will work out."

Yes, you can bet your last centavo. The guy is an old-fashioned romantic all right.

Pinoy Teleserye in Cambodia

by

The teleserye “Pangako Sa ‘Yo” was broadcasted here in Cambodia with Khmer dubbing. If you go to the market during noon, you’ll see all the vendors tuned in to Jericho Rosales speaking in a high-pitched Khmer voice. The teleserye was so popular that many Cambodian babies are named “Angelo.” Right now, Cambodian channels are broadcasting “It Might Be You: with John Lloyd and Bea Lucero. I guess the new babies would now be called Lawrence.

MAALAALA MO KAYA TO AIR IN BRUNEI

by

MAALAALA MO KAYA TO AIR IN BRUNEI

The country's most-awarded primetime drama anthology begins its conquest of the Asian region this month, as the leading free-television channel of the Kingdom of Brunei Darussalam, begins airing syndicated episodes of Maalaala Mo Kaya starting this Monday, August 30.

This new deal, which was announced by International Sales and Distribution head Reena de Guzman Garingan, places each Maalaala Mo Kaya episode on the late-morning slot, at 11 AM to 12 noon from Mondays to Thursdays.

The Brunei agreement is yet another coup for ABS-CBN's International Sales and Distribution Group, which has already scored broadcasting deals for several of the network's leading teleseryes for the Asian market. Mula sa Puso, known internationally as From the Heart, began the Filipino teleserye sensation in Malaysia when it ran 180 45-minute episodes on a national scale, from Mondays to Fridays. This was followed by Pangako Sa 'Yo (The Promise), which made its stars Jericho Rosales and Kristine Hermosa bona-fide celebrities in the region. Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay (The Long Wait), Sa Sandaling Kailangan Mo Ako (The Moment You Need Me) and Sana'y Wala Ng Wakas (Timeless) followed, to similar success. And finally, Pangako sa 'Yo has also been winning over viewers in Cambodia, where it is aired on a UHF channel, dubbed in Khmer.

Selling individual programs to different markets all over the world, ABS-CBN International Sales and Distribution has made the Philippines a name to be reckoned with in international television by providing material appreciated not just by Filipino communities, but by audiences worldwide.
