I still have this stupid hijacker (About: Blank) on my laptop. I run hijackthis, adaware and spybot and it removes all but some stupid hidden file that I can't get to, and eventually it comes back again at the next reboot. It sucks I can't get rid of this thing and that MicroSlut won't do anything about it.
Anyone know how to COMPLATELY remove the About: Blank homepage hijacker?
If your home page is set to about:blank, that's ok. That just makes it a blank window when you open IE. It's an option, no less. Unless you change the home page to something else and it goes back, it's not a virus/malware.
try CWShredder, it targets browser hijackers also.

I would also recommend getting Mozilla's Firefox webbrowser, I've had mine for 6 months now and havn't had a problem with my webpage getting changed or annoying pop ups.
this is actually a part of a virus that didn't work on your computer for some reason like the type of os you are running or something else. So the virus didn't work, which is good news, but this part of it is still there which is bad news. I had this. After a lot of internet research and using all the little programs that help you fix stuff and stuff, and this thing still popping up at least a couple of times a day, I did what you'd have to do if you have a virus: wipe the hard drive clean (save all things important on cds first) and then start over. I've talked to many a tech support rep at different places and yelled at a few, but unfortunately, that is the best answer.
fucking lies.............. you don't have to wipe ur harddrive, you open up your proccessinmg lists when u first start the comp and there will be a weirdly named process that will disapear, that is it restoring itself when u restart. you copy down the name search for it close down all processes you know you don't need and delete that and the file the spybot things find. that is how it is done

it had its clutches on every thing on my computer, luckily i had gotten a new hard drive earlier...the only thing i could do was wipe it clean...unlike what i do with my ass after any time i drop a mexican family
