My name is Stephanie and I have a beautiful 2 month old son named Aiden. Aiden is my angel from God.
I found out the Down diagnosis while I was still pregnant through an amnio. The amnio was done based on my ob's intuition. She has a daughter who is also blessed with Down syndrome. She has guided me and become a mentor for me since that day.
I will never forget the day that Teressa called and told me the results. She asked if I knew what Trisomy 21 was. And I said yes. She said it was Down syndrome. I said "Yeah, and?" Well, the results came back positive and Aiden has it. OK.
Aiden's father isn't in the picture. It was too much for him to handle. It's his loss, not Aiden's.
Aiden was born on August 30th, 6 weeks early. He is the most beautiful baby (granted I'm biased). He has very soft features of the Down characteristics that we have all come to love. His smile melts me everytime. He does have the complete AV Canal defect and is in the beginning stages of heart failure. He is currently on Lasix to help with the fluid. We have went into the PICU once.
There is a local Down syndrome association here that we are members of. But I looked online and just stumbled across here tonight.
