For the past 17 years ive owned various types of horses and ridden many others as well.
I am interested in what the temperment of NF ponies are like? (ive beeen told they are placid and not bolshy unlike exmoors), which is ideal (used to have a bloshy rig and i now appreciate the quieter side of my equine friends).
Im aware they are extremely good weight carriers so should be able to take my 5'2 frame of 8 1/2 st. And they should be hardy enough to live in scottish weather.
Could anyone tell me when the sales at the NF are? Would it be best to buy one at a yearling from the sales assuming they are wild and will need to be started from scratch? Are the sales monthly, weekly or yearly?
it doesn't matter how old you get them, if they are foals they are probably wild but if they are yearlings they may have had some work done to them.
if you go to www.newforestpony.com on the right hand side there are three you can go to ponies for sale & wanted, or Where to buy your Forester and beaulieu rd sales.

There is a New Forest pony stud in Yorkshire which is a little bit nearer to you in Scotland than Hampshire is , it is the Highfox Stud and should be listed somewhere on this site or on www.newforestpony.com which I think will take you to the N.F.P.&C.B.S.
