NF as riding club ponies

I have noticed that NFPEC have done very well at RC competitions.

It is such a shame that many competitions for best riding club mount are restricted to horses. I wanted to enter the best RC horses class but can't as Homey is a pony - I can't enter him in Pony Club pony as I am an adult. Unfortunately nearly all the classes locally are like this as they are Chiltern and Thames qualifiers. I have emailed the Chiltern and Thames organisers and explained that the new forest ponies make very good RC mounts and perhaps next year they might like to change the rules so ponies can be included as in real life adults on ponies are not excluded from joining RC and in fact many excel at this level but they did not reply.

Anyone else had such problems?

Luckily our competition pony is 14.2 so can compete in BRC events with either a junior or adult rider as he is over the 14hh limit needed in XC, ODE's and SJ, although i dont beleive there is a limit on height for adult riders for dressage!
There seems to be pleny classes locally for RC pony in the forest though!

Locally, in Somerset they are all riding club horse classes except one of the smaller local shows which has a riding club horse or pony club.It makes it difficult if something crops up like it did for me last weekend as you don't get another chance for another year.

I guess that living in the NF, so many people do ride NF ponies so by limiting classes to horses, clubs would not make much money as they would get very few entries locally!
I just assumed everywhere would be th same and local clubs all over the country would ahve classes to cater for adult pony riders!

Sadly around here it's the same, PC classes for under 18's and RC classes for horses exceeding 14.2hh is the general rules!

Same with the jumping around here too, pony classes always have rider age limits unless you want to go and do the 3'+ opens

Thats why i only ever do M&M classes. i did my first M&M best turned out a few weeks ago as i'd never come across the class before!

There was (not sure if its still going) an association call Pony Riders Association. I was ridden southern champion a few years ago. You collect points on a card in everything you do, certain things gain more points than others. It was fab fun!! I won it on my now retired pony.
