These photos were of him at ruffly 4/5years old.
And this is when my boy got Lamnitis
He lost tones of weight.

You must get the prize for most photos on a post! Well done Rhea! Love the pics of him stood in the big puddle in the field....typical forester He looks a real cheeky character. xx
Can't help wondering if was self-treating for mild beginning lami when he was standing in the puddles! Of course ponies feel the need to self-treat long before anything gets bad enough for anyone else to notice. What a lovely boy, though.

Thanks,
Sorry I do get carried away, I'm normally on
www.equine-world.co.uk, its a fab site, but its down at the moment, im always crashing their pc lol
The photos of sisco in the puddles were take about 3 years ago so def wasn't a lamnitis sign.
But he used to roll in them when he got hot!, he is a very cheeky monkey, but hes great fun.

as for the above comment about standing in puddle for a self treating lammi, do you no think he was just standing in a puddle?
Many horses and ponies get sub-clinical lami (i.e. mild lami that doesn't produce any symptoms which the owner would notice).
A good example of this is my youngster, Sunny - see pic of his off fore here:
He never had any symptoms at all of lami, never 'footy', moved perfectly all the time, but after I moved him from a grass+stable regime, with ad-lib hay in the stable and tiny amounts of hard feed, onto his current regime (very mixed browsing / grazing, including herbs which he could self-medicate for lami on, mixed terrain including stony stuff, etc.) his hoof growth improved a lot. You can see 'lami rings' in the lower part of this hoof, with a bit of flare below them, and above that part he has much better, tighter attachment of the hoof wall and even growth. His feet are now almost completely self-maintaining as he 'trims' them himself, when he feels like it, by digging at my heap of limestone chippings.

One day in may, sisco came down lame on his back hoof, he was still trotting and cantering about so i thought he had got kicked, the next day i went down and he was standing under a tree, at that moment i knew he had lamnitis,he stood there a neighed at me, it was horrid to see i bursted into tears.
I got my o/h to say with him while i ran back to make a phone call to the vet, when i came back he was lieing on the floor because he tried to move.
The vet came and have him an injection, we phoned someone to bring a box down and he went straght on, back to the stables.
He was sound within a week, but being shut in a stable made his legs worse, so i tuned him out with jester in our paddock, ever since hes been fine.
He had one deep ring around his hoof, a few more trims and it will be gone.
