Have had my suspicions for some time but it was confirmed yesterday by the vet that my 'gelding' actually is a colt. This is despite him being registered as a gelding with the breed society. His gelding was incomplete and he has kept his right testicle, or at least most of it. Because its not a straight forward removal he has to go in overnight for a general anaesthetic, a very expensive nightmare. The lady we bought him from mentioned when we were chatting that her vet had not found a lot when she did him so I should have been warned but it was said in a throw away manner as though she was joking about his manliness. She said he was a gelding and thats what I thought I bought. The receipt says sold as seen, I dont suppose I have a leg to stand on in trying to get a contribution from her for the op.
On the bright side for a 2 year old colt he is very good! Apart from constantly chewing his lead rope and a bit of hollering you would never know!

this is formally know as a "rig" and unfortunatley if the colt is gelded when both testicles are not dropped this can occar, which is why most wait til 12-18 months of age.
