hello as most no i was given a forester 7 years old aged 2 not a happy girl..been handled very wrong so i,ve tried so many ways..until a few mths ago a phone call out of the blue nothing to do with her but what happen next is..
i got asked to do some photos for S.Weston book..i,m not into that way never was so i went off to shot the photos..will a blank mind..it was a good few hour and i started to think maybe..did a few shots and got a little hooked.
the book arrived and i,ve done a bit of reading..
Sarah come over last Thursday we had lunch and i took her to meet the herd..(think she like Harry the best sat down with him for a chat..31 inches of him)
filly loved the massage and the others were ok..well Whisper time came.. not to bad..got told what to do next..so since then i,ve worked twice a day for 10 mins on her..
well Sunday got to put a rope around her neck..
Monday she was laying down when i got there she let me touch her and did not get up..that would have never happen in 7 years..i,m giving myself 6mths to get her leading..she shakes at a head collar but i have put it to her neck now and shes ok..but Whisper has a strong mind so i,m taking little steps..
thank for the help Sarah..will get someone to take photos of it as it happens..this is her a speed..
Just to keep the thread of milestone progress going I thought I'd add a photo taken this morning of my little chap. Its the first time he's been relaxed enough not to have to get up when someone is in the field...
Ps. Thats my knee in the corner!

hi
thats great.. givesme a little hope..
shes coming along ok.. no running away any more.. like a tummy tickle.. but not to sure on rope but i,m getting there..
When I read that you'd got a rope around her neck, I tried it on Blaze and it took a while just to get near him with it! But at the end I did get it loosely around his shoulders and i lead him a couple of steps from the strap on his headcollar, so my next ambition is to get his new headcollar on him and the old one off.

Well done Jenny, keep going! I thought I'd give you an update of Blaze's progress as well -
I can now put suncream on his nose! And the biggest success this week is that he let me put the nose of his headcollar over his nose and I laid the long strap over his head!! he stood there then for a couple of seconds and then I took it off, and so out of sheer disbelief I tried to do it again - and he let me! Wow.
This morning I thought I'd carry on the good work so took the headcollar over to him, he obviously thought that he has this game all under control so grabbed it off me and promptly ran off with it!! That was until swinging it about meant that one of the buckles hit him square on the forehead... oh dear... needless to say he's now not keen.

Hi, just reading your thread and well done on perservering.
I am so pleased with Blaze!! (and slightly smug myself)
I have just put his new headcollar on! Ooh my god.... remember to breathe...
I had to take the old one off as it was starting to rub his nose, and as soon as it was off he enjoyed having a good face rub and was less and less headshy. So then I started to repeat putting his nose into the new bigger headcollar until he was used to it. And then did the next part in sections of holding the buckle up against his head, and the next day the longer strap against his other cheek. We just kept going with that as he just would back away if I did the two together! But tonight however I did it seemed to be ok and before I knew it, it was done up.
So hopefully that means that we can succeed without access to a confined area.
Just managed to get a quick pic of the first time I can clip a lead rope on to his headcollar without him running for the hills... he was far more interested in my phone!
How are you getting on Jenny?

Please please please would you resize your photo so that we don't have to keep scrolling from side to side? The rules (see link at top of page) say photos shouldn't be wider than 650 pixels.
when i taught Lola to tie up i started in the stable by just looping her leadrein through baler twine so if she pulled back she didnt scare herself and also couldnt go anywhere if she did get loose. I gave her lots and lots of praise for being a good girl and now she ties up like a dream. Believe me for the first year of having her i never thought i would get to a stage like that with her... she was a witch with very VERY handy back legs
