i made a 85 yard gopher shot with a powerfull springer rifle
What are your guys' farthest shot with either hand or long gun?

I wish it was quail season out here. But I have to wait 'till fall. My longest shot on a quail was about 60 yards, and my longest shots ever were all on cans from 100 yards. All with my rifle. I've dropped a few starlings at fifty yards too. As far as my pistol, longest shot was about 35 yards on a pigeon. Took it out with a neck shot.
I wish our quail season was longer, but here it's only a couple of months (the california quail is our state bird). You think that's bad? We have the highest mourning dove population in the country, yet our dove season only lasts 9 days. It's okay though, because it's open season on ground squirrels and jack rabbits all year round. Anyways, good luck with those quail.
I lived on Vancouver Island for four years and it was great. I lived out by Sidney where it was all small acreages and farms. Besides the quail there are tons of crows, pigeons, starlings, rats and what I call "feral rabbits". There is a small native cottontail rabbit but there are thousands of escaped domestic rabbits. The last year I lived there one of the hospitals was hiring someone to come in and shoot the estimated 1200 rabbits on the grounds. The rabbits were tunneling under the sidewalks and foundations plus people visiting the hospital were tracking in rabbit crap. One lady thought that was inhumane and she decided that she would catch them all and take them to her farm. Almost overnight the population grew to almost 2000 rabbits because people were dumping off thier unwanted pets. I hope that lady had a big farm! Another pest that was everywhere was the Eastern Grey squirrel which was pushing out the smaller native Douglas squirrel. I also used to use low powered pistols with the hard felt cleaning pellets to chase racoons off the deck. I had rifles that could have killed them but they didn't bother me that much. It rarely got cold there, compared to Alberta where I live now, and there was always some kind of quarry close by. It's a great place for airgunning.
around 30yards on a pigeon, 25yards on a small rabbit and cans out to 50yards or so when plinking. o and a starling from around 35-40yards one time with my 1377 pistol. Hoping to get a few rabbits out to 30-40yards with my modded 2289G.
