Hope you had a good holiday. I had strep throat during the first week of December and I still have a cough from that therefore very little cooking in my house.
Anyways, "pi gwat" is pork and Quinn, I personally does not like that stuff. Don't you find that dim sum is very boring these days? Not much vareity to choose from.
RW- make sure he take you to a have decent place and do tell what you order.
>>Don't you find that dim sum is very boring these days?<<
In the south-central U.S., "boring" is probably not the first word that comes to mind when "dim sum" gets mentioned. "Chicken fried steak"? That might become boring. But "dim sum"?
Did I mention that I roasted a duck for Christmas? I rubbed him inside and out with some 5-spice powder and salt. With some stir-fried mustard greens and steamed rice, he went pretty well.

If she'd just give them a chance, she'd grow to love bacon, egg, and cheese McGriddles as much as I have. I just know it.
"Don't we have some kind of policy on these here boards about conversing with one's significant other?"
I think the exact policy wording goes something like this:
Significant Other Conversing Policy
If, while proctoring a post, an administrator or moderator detects signs of possible forum policy rule breaking regarding significant other conversing, he or she should first observe the forum member carefully; if the same signs are seen again (such as questionable conversing posts directed at another forum member's thread, on-topic post, or thread-drift post), the administrator or moderator should indicate discreetly to the member that he or she is aware of abnormal behavior and/or e-mail to the member as soon as possible after the observed behavior is observed. Administrators or moderators may want to compare the posts of two or more members to look for similarities just to be on the safe side. Depending on observations and judgment regarding the member's responses during administrator's or moderator's discussion with the member, the administrator or moderator may then decide to start procedures for significant other conversing forum policy misconduct.
However,
if administration or moderators find that a member's spouse cheated on him/her by frequenting a Super 8 Motel with a married person who had 3 children (at home with unknowing spouse) and was then busted which resulted in reconciliation attempts for years but the affair resumed and two divorces resulted and the forum member ended up meeting another forum member who's spouse also cheated and continued their affair after being busted but still reconciliation attempts went on for years in spite of ongoing lies and then that situation ended in divorce too and those two forum members eventually met and actually started a recovery forum and then decided to converse/drift on a 'Merry Christmas Gina' thread the matter would be considered resolved and no forum policy misconduct warrants or more severe sanctions (from an e-mailed reprimand to be placed in the member's file and/or a removal of their personal post editing feature, or locking, probation, suspension, expulsion or banning) will be served.
>>"Don't we have some kind of policy on these here boards about conversing with one's significant other"<<
RW - I definitely miss something here many many months ago but does that meant exactly what it means?
Quinn - I am sure your duckie "went really well". I am not a fan of any winged animals therefore never try cooking any ducks before but five spice sounds yummy. So does the eggs and bacon.
Do they have the usual stuff at dim sum down south? Or more advance combinations are offered?
Barbarapat wrote >>I love Bacon, egg, & cheese McGriddles<<
You see RW? I'm not alone. (Thanks Barbarapat).
RW wrote >>the matter would be considered resolved and no forum policy misconduct warrants or more severe sanctions<<
I sure don't need another outstanding warrant. What a relief.
You know. That could be your longest post ever, RW.
>>Do they have the usual stuff at dim sum down south? Or more advance combinations are offered?<<
Mostly the usual stuff but I think in the past five years or so we're beginning to see a little more experimentation. For example, its getting harder to find steamed bbq pork buns. People seem to prefer the baked ones. Things stuffed with cheese (cream cheese?) seemed to be popular there for awhile. I'm hoping that was just a fad. I doubt we're seeing as much experimentation as there might be in, say, San Fransisco or Toronto. After all there are only three or four dim sum places of any size in the Dallas area. A larger variety of vegetables would be most welcome (and in spite of appearances I'm not just saying that because RW is posting).
I know I posted here yesterday and now its gone.
Where did it go ??!!
Who took it ??!!
Where did you hide it ??!!
I'm must be going mad !! Mad I tell you !!

I spill my guts on here day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year, and the best you can come up with is "the dog ate my homework"?
Convert RW- unlikely but RW- pork or "pi gwat" is more tasty than the little wing fellows, in my humble opinion.
JC and Quinn, one of these days I will post how my mother can turn perfectly good chops into pork jerky that can double as disc.
Quinn - cream cheese in dim sum????? Toronto is NEVER that progressive in their dim sum fare. The thought is making me ill. Maybe boring is a good thing.
JC- how are you! Fancy that you are posting the same day as I am.

How about this.
I posted but some aliens from outer space deleted it so they could study how the human brain works.
By the way...
Did I tell ya'll I quit smoking. 9 months and counting.

I don't remember either ... and yet ... I still have this "need to know". Yaknow?
Gina >>Quinn - cream cheese in dim sum?????<<
I know. I know. It's scandalous. Heads should roll.
JC >>Did I tell ya'll I quit smoking. 9 months and counting<<
I'm impressed. Good for you. Seriously. That's great. Don't even think about it now that you've come this far. And I'll bet you're still 95 lbs wearing a brass bra ( ... don't worry about it ... that was a different thread ... I think ...)
>>I posted but some aliens from outer space deleted it so they could study how the human brain works<<
Hate when that happens. At least, in your case, they were interested in your brain. I could tell you stories about aliens with rectal probes that would make Brokeback Mountain seem like The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. But I digress.
***What do you do when you have the urge to light up***
I use those plastic teeth flosser thingys. My gums have never looked so good.
I still have hard cravings from time to time. Kinda like right now.
***At least, in your case, they were interested in your brain***
Thats my story and I'm sticking with it.

Q has apparently been up late (or early) listening to Art Bell again.
Sounds like WAY to much work. I vote we leave her be...
Converting RW is tough, however, she DID break down and has started eating some meat, so my guess is that it's only a matter of time.
Today... Chicken. Tomorrow..... PORK!!
Speaking of pork... JC & Gina, when a bunch of us got together in Dallas last year, some of us decided to go to dinner. No one asked the other what was being ordered, yet when the waiter took our orders, we all ordered a pork dish!
I MUST point this out. RW is posting here, Q, Gina, JC, Chris and now me. Yet no one has posted a recipe yet.
Something's ain't right...
Cory
PS: JC, congrats on the quitting smoking. My W will be 6 years without them this March. I'd quit, but then I'd have NO bad habits and would have to start one to maintain the balance..
You are not a human being having a spiritual experience, but a spiritual being having a human experience.
***MUST point this out. RW is posting here, Q, Gina, JC, Chris and now me. Yet no one has posted a recipe yet.***
No recipe but I have to tell ya'll. Hubby and I went to Vegas this past weekend for a little mental health. We ate at Thomas Keller's restaurant Bouchon. It was almost a spiritual experience.
I had mussels then the trout with almonds and brown butter and Keller's version of mac and cheese ( OH MY GOD !!!!!). For dessert I had the dark chocolate mousse.
Hubby had steak and fries.
Could it have been made with gourmet Velveeta? Nah. No such thing.
I suppose if you used some killer home-made noodles, high quality melty smooth cheeses, heavy cream, then season it with fresh ground pepper and Redmond gourmet all natural sea salt you could serve Mac-n-Cheez at Charlie Trotters in Chicago for $79.99 a plate.
