Some may have noticed that the "entrance" to the chat room has moved from the bottom of the front page to the top.
Two things go with this: (1) the list of chatters is no longer visible outside the chatroom, and (2) the actual chat dialogue no longer appears outside the chat room, on the "home page" of the site.
To me, #2 is a "good" thing, since it prevents anyone from seeing the chat while not logged into the chatroom. However, #1 is a "not so good" thing, since I can't see whether someone I particularly want to chat with is in the chat room.
Unfortunately, Network 54's software makes these a "two-fer" package deal...either you get both, or you get neither.
What do others think? This follows on our discussion about anonymous lurking, etc.
Also, The Mighty Quinn has added a "betrayed only" chat, linked to the Discovery and Further forums, while the "open to all" chat is linked to the Open and Divorce boards.
did a fine job on the chat room guidelines. I feel bad about making suggestions and then someone else gets stuck with the work. I wouldn't mind getting involved in the writing if yall wanted some help. Cept someone would have to check ma spellin. I used to read and write regulations fer a livin.
>>>This may sound lame but my major concern would be appearing rude making a quick exit>>>
That doesn't sound lame at all. In the past I have jumped into chat when I was looking for someone, and then felt that I was being rude if I left without talking to anyone. I guess the polite thing to do is stick around long enough to say hi, explain what you were doing, and then leave. Or, we can all just agree to not be offended.

Well Tex, where I come from we have this saying. You can pretty much say whatever you want about anyone as long as you follow it up with......"Bless her/his heart." That way people know you meant no offense by your comment.
So, when I pop into chat and decide to leave after a few seconds, I'll just type...Bless your heart...and that way everyone will know that I didn't mean to be offensive. LOL
BTW, I did pop into chat for a second last night to see who was in there. I didn't have time to talk, I was just being nosey. Bless my heart.....

During most of that time, my puter was turned off. Apparently, a guy doesn't automatically log off when he shuts his puter down. I forgot to logoff.
I wanted to say hi to anyone who might have stopped by when I was in chat last night. Hope to see you there again real soon. If I seem unresponsive, I'm probably just taking a nap on the keyboard.
Well.... now that you mention it, I did pop in there this morning because it showed one chatter. I just thought you were being rude when you didn't answer me. I tried not to take offense though.
Good thing it wasn't Tex, he said they take offense at everything where he comes from.
In my neck of the woods "bless her heart" has the connotation of... her elevator is not going all the way to the top, she is a brick short of a full load.... you see what I mean???? anyway GT is far too young LOL....bless her heart ahaha
