I have spoken to these people a few times, and they're very good and understanding. Only problem is, I really believe that if someone really wants to kill themselves, they won't ring someone who they know is going to try to dissuade them... I didn't ring them when I tried to kill myself, I rang them when I wanted to talk to someone in the middle of the night and I'd run out of friends... they were still good to me, though.

BTW, I had an email from someone who said they'd never heard the expression "out of pocket" used in that way. Is that a term that is only used in the South?

I asked my H who was raised in Ohio and Michigan what "out of pocket" meant to him. His response was that it was expenses covered by an individual, not the company. But I knew what you meant because I'm from Louisiana, so maybe it is a Southern usage.

We'd say out of pocket over here. It would be in a situation where, say, you'd got someone to do you a favour (favor??!!) and you'd say 'I don't want you to be out of pocket'

Hmmmm.....I guess I never realized it was that odd of an expression used in the context I used it.  LOL
