"Chocolat" is on against the Super Bowl tonight. (Can't remember which cable network it's on...A&E I think.)

WTFox?

February 6 2005, 6:53 PM

I don't get Fox. I get 120 channels. I get Fox News (bleccch) but do I get Fox? No. I do not get Fox. Fox is a local channel. WTF is a local channel anyway and why don't I get them? Why has it taken me six months to figure out that I don't get Fox?

PBS is a local channel too. I can live without Fox but I sure miss Jim Leherer. It's no wonder I never see Homer Simpson around anymore. Should I switch back to cable? I don't want to switch back to cable. I like my DVR. Once a person has had DVR, I don't think that person can go back to living without a DVR. Why doesn't cable have DVR's?

I'm going to order Fox but I have to wait. My wait time is 10 minutes. I promised the boys I would record the Super Bowl so that we could watch it commercial-free. I'm figuring it should take about 45 minutes to watch the game thataway. But my youngest son said "Are you kidding me? Super Bowl commercials are great. #%#&*% the game! Let's watch the commercials". My son - the comedian. Comes by it honestly (he said proudly).

Well, it's a buck fifty a month and they'll have it turned on in about 5 minutes. Technology - you gotta love it. Homer's back in town.

Q, not sure about your local cable system, but here, we have DVR service with our cable. My brother also gets DVR in Las Vegas with his cable. We also get the Hi-Def service, and let me tell you, there's NOTHING like watching the Super Bowl in high definition. When a blind guy like can count the laces on the ball, that's a pretty cool thing.... AND, we get all our local channels!

I tried the dish thing for a couple of years and went back to cable. I got tired of losing my signal during crappy weather, and we get a LOT of crappy weather here.

That's one thing that REALLY bums me out about this whole NHL lockout. I was SO looking forward to watching hockey, and being able to see the puck for the first time in years...

Art of War

It figures that DVR is coming to cable - DVR is the best thing that has happened to tv since video tape (with the possible exception of HD). I'll probably be keeping my satellite dish (even without PBS) just because of DVR. Next winter might change my mind if it is alot crappier than this winter. That cable modem is coming back - this DSL internet service has got to go.

Have you been reading "The Art of War" recently?

I read it a few years ago, loved it. Another good book on strategies of warfare is "The Book Of The Five Rings" by Miyamoto Musashi. Musashi was a real samurai who had over 300 fights, never losing. He was the inventor of the "Two Swords In One" philosophy of fighting. He trained himself to use the two handed long sword with one hand, and used a short sword in the other. No wonder he never lost... The book is a collection of letters that he wrote to a student. Very interesting and intriguing...

The quote I'm using now is from the Art Of War. I was given a daily desk calendar this past Christmas that has a different quote for every day of the year, so I might be changing my sig now and then.

In both books, many things that are said, and strategies that are explained, are quite applicable to affair recovery, at least in my twisted mind...
