There is an agency 'The Ashley Madison Agency' that is an online dating service for 'attached adults seeking romantic affairs'. I've heard about them before because they advertise on late-night TV.
Anyway, I'm reading the paper and they have a full page ad that says 'a high-ranking government official, who must remain nameless for obvious reasons, has become a person of interest to the authorities because he maintains an account with us and has been accused by his wife of philandering'.
It goes on to say that the agency has been asked to disclose his information. They have refused because their clients' personal information is 'sacrosanct' and they will 'NEVER reveal any details about any of thier clients...ever'. They say they may have to pay a daily financial penalty for each day that they don't comply. They say that they take the 'discretionary needs of their customers very seriously'.
The last line is, 'The only thing we don't take seriously is the event described in this notice. It didn't really happen. Happy April Fools.'
Am I overly sensitive to this...or is this in such poor taste that MANY would find this ad offensive? I have only seen them advertise in small captions of the newspaper and on late-night TV...but never in a large spread in the daily paper.
Maybe it's just me...but I didn't find it funny at all.
I didn't read it, obviously, but no, its not even remotely funny. Have you seen the 'clubs'? I've seen adverts for them, can't remember if it was on the net or in newspapers but they're called stuff like 'adulterers club' and say things like 'looking for an extramarital affair - you've found the place!'
Boy, they are sick puppies. They might as well put up an advert saying 'want to cause unimagineable pain and anguish to person you say you love?'
Definitely sicko's. I wish them everything horrible!!!!
