Y'all might not be excited, but I am!! I've never had a car this new before, and I haven't had A/C for more than 5 years. (And This is only possible because my big brother is helping me with the cost.)
It's $4,000 below Blue Book value and only 25,000 miles. Whoo hoo! I should get it on Thursday.

If I could get a brand spankin' new SUV, I think I'd still get a CR-V. It's got good gas mileage, it's versatile, and anything bigger would just be more than we need. Of course, I don't think I'd ever buy a car brand new, because of the depreciation issue -- but if somone wanted to give me one, well....I'd drive it.
What kind are YOU getting, MM?

According to all the research I've done, the top three larger SUV'S are Mercedes, Acuras, and Volvos. I drive a Lexus now and I LOVE it. So it depends which one I like, I guess.
The family member buying the car has millions in disposable income. He doesn't care about depreciation.
"The family member buying the car has millions in disposable income. He doesn't care about depreciation." Yowza. Well then. Have FUN!! I've never thought of test-driving a Lexus or Mercedes, etc. I figured they probably wouldn't allow someone in my zipcode to do that, ha ha!!
I do remember that Volvos are known for their safety.
Honda has high marks for reliability and holds its value really well. Although I can't imagine a need to trade in for a long, long, time.....

P.S. Thanks Charlie!! Maybe when I get it I'll post a photo. I truly feel like a 5 year old right before Christmas.

TLMM, a friend has had a Lexus RX300 for years now. He likes it and still plans to drive the wheels off it, because he's got one in college now and one leaving in a year and a half.
Lexus now has a hybrid version of the RX, if money's no object.
Jean, I'd be thrilled with a new (to me!) car! Good for you!! Hondas have an excellent reputation for comfort and safety.
TLMM - you lucky girl!
Right now, I'm getting my credit card debt paid off so I can get a new car towards the end of the year. I'm leaning towards a G6 or Solstice (SO stinkin' cute!). I like the new Nissans, too... oh, and the Chargers (with a Hemi!)... and the new Sebrings... and the new Mustangs... and and and!!
If price were no object, I'd get a completely impractical 2-seater, like a Nissan Z-350 or a BMW Sportster. But, alas, I have no relatives who like me enough to give me a new car! Man! I gotta start being a nicer person.

My yesterdays are all boxed up - and neatly put away.
Well I think I should put my name in the hat for a brand new SUV. Ummmm aren't I your adopted daughter and therefore by rights I am related to this individual with all the millions.......
I had a Honda Civic and drove it for 10 years with no problems at all besides routine oil changes. I sold it just before the affair and we bought a brand new Acura 1.7EL. The difference I notice between Honda and Acura is that although the parts are the same, the service is truly 5 star - well at least in Tbay anyway.
I go in for an oil change and my car comes out washed inside and out. If they even so much as notice a piece of leather peaking out of the door panel or a string on my leather steering wheel that is out of place - they fix it.
Honda the service was okay.......and I actually in reflection used to think excellent until I started dealing with our Acura dealer. I jokingly call my car a Honda Civic in a business suit. It is a Canadian only model and is basically a civic with some upgrades - leather, heated seats, moonroof, upgraded sound system.
Unfortunately it will be sold soon like everything else I own
I highly recommend the Acura SUV since I have heard nothing but great things about it!
Jean - I am looking at the CRV right now but unfortunately it doesn't fit in my budget - unless I go for a 2002 or older. The one thing I really like about Honda's and Acura's is that they don't lose their value nearly as quickly as other cars.
For instance I bought my Honda Civic for $14,000, drove it for 10 years and still sold it for $9,000.
Kid -- that's what mine is now! $14,000 for 2004 CR-V with 25,000 miles. My nephew mechanic checked it out and said "basically, you're getting a new car." Whoo hoo! This is only possible for because my brother is making a nice downpayment for me.
I'm having trouble coordinating a ride to go get it, tho. It's about 1/2 hour away.
